[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Sunset in the Dagos slums was still a pretty sight; the oranges and pinks of the sky brought joy to the young Magi. The streets were clearing out, and though the air was thick with the smell of smog, she thought it was a beautiful day. The moon was visible in the darkening sky. With her winged arms wrapped around a brown bag full of what groceries she was able to afford, the little crow moved along the sidewalk, dancing and spinning around as she sang to herself. “Hum de dahhhh, Ohhh~ The moon is my lover In a silken dress of stars, She glows unlike any other Sends me sweet kisses from afar~” The air magi was a talented singer and musician, but dance was obviously an art that eluded her. It was more like the spinning and hopping of a playful child who rarely gets to go outside. Several times she almost lost balance, interrupting her lyrics with a laugh, trying to keep the bag from spilling. “Oh, my love, I can’t wait to see you shine! The sun went to sleep, so ‘til morning you are mine~” She sang the words up towards the moon, with her eyes closed, not trying to project like she did while performing but not trying to mumble. She was getting stares, and was oblivious to them. People that knew her just smiled and went back to their business, or watched politely. She was a fixture around here, and had a reputation for her little performances. She spun in a full circle, hopping from one leg to the next, spinning each time. “Dear, oh dear, we’ll dance to daylight’s riiiiise,” she sang, holding the last word with vibrato. And with an awkward flourish, dropped down to a small hum again. Happily, she danced forward, with her eyes closed. She was near the alley she took back home. “When the sky turns bright, we’ll whisper our goodbyes,” she sang. “Oh d-Ooof!” Her next chorus was interrupted as she collided with someone she didn’t see. She fell forward, unsure how tangled she ended up with the person, or if they had fallen or not. She ended up on her stomach, with the back of groceries spilled out ahead of her. “Ahh, oh no, I’m so sorry!” She said, turning her head to look at the person before working to unscramble herself from them. “I wasn’t looking where I was walking, ah! Sorry, sorry!” [attr="class","text-lyrics"]Always on my lips you will dance so sweetly the leviathan @ GS & BRSW[newclass=.icon-bg]padding:10px;border:1px solid #000;height:100px;width:100px;margin-right:10px;[/newclass][newclass=.iconhere]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity: 0;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres:hover]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity:1;[/newclass][newclass=.notestxt]padding-top:20px;font:small-caps 10px 'Times New Roman',serif;color:#fff;text-align:justify;padding:10px;overflow:auto;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics]display:inline-block;font: italic 9px/100% Times New Roman,serif;text-align:center;letter-spacing:1px;width:80%;border-bottom:1px solid #000;line-height:0.1em;margin:10px 0 20px;margin-left:30px;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics span]background:#fff;padding:0 10px;[/newclass] [newclass=.post]font:11px Times New Roman,serif;color:#1c1c1c;padding:0px 20px 0px 0px;height:350px;width:330px;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;line-height:130%;position:relative;margin-top:-400px;margin-left:100px;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-track]border:1px solid #000;background-color:#fff;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color:#000;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar]width:4px;background-color:#fff;[/newclass]

The dream of the future you see, dissolves... Sunset over the city, Fey found her eyes drawn upward toward the warm glints of light passing over the horizon. A tired sigh escaped her lips as she wandered through the streets, only giving a quick glance back and forth at her surroundings to see various shop keeps finishing up business and packing up. Her days had been strange lately, what little routine she had normally had been thrown out the window, and now this day had passed by as something of a blur. Simply wandering to and fro with no real reason to do so. Now she was forced to jog through the streets, to find somewhere to lay low for the night before it actually got dark. She didn't like being caught out after nightfall if she could avoid it, things became that much more dangerous in the veil of darkness. [break][break] Still, she found herself distracted watching the sun slowly moving over the horizon. If nothing else she liked the sight from time to time, like a warm bonfire burning over the horizon. It was a nice distraction, at least. A nice distraction until she rounded a corner a bit too quickly, a bit too obliviously, only to smack head on into another person heading her way. A brief moment before she collided her eyes shot open and she stumbled a bit trying to stop, giving a yelp before ultimately failing and colliding with the girl before her. Fey toppled backward as the one she ran into came forward and landed on her rear with a thud, flopping onto her back with a groan. She only stayed there for a bit before pushing herself up to a sitting position, her mind finally processing a girls frantic voice a few moments later. [break][break] “A-a-ah! U-uh...” her own voice stammered out a feeble attempt at a reply as she looked over the clearly avian girl. “wasn't paying attention...” She huffed before quickly springing to her feet and shuffling, making an idle motion of dusting the hem of her dress off. “N-no... it was my fault...” Fey muttered quietly after the other girl had apologized, more than once. She ran a hand through her hair and scratched her head awkwardly, she was normally more attentive to her surroundings but today she was far too out of it. [break][break] A moment later she began to quickly move, gathering up some items that had evidently been spilled from a bag the other girl carried. It would have been a waste to let them get ruined on the ground. A moment later however she seized mid motion, springing up straight and wide eyed. “I-I'm not trying to steal from you! I was just...” She exclaimed, a bit louder than she would have liked, only to cut herself off a moment later.

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever “Ah, no, no, it’s my fault, I should have- hm?” She said, pulling herself up to a sitting position. The crow stroked at her ruffled feathers, flattening them back out. She regarded the magi girl in wide-eyed curiosity for a moment before breaking the tension with a soft giggle. “I didn’t think you were!” She said. She stood up and went to work gathering the rest of the scattered groceries. She approached the girl with a smile and gently took one of the vegetables she held, placing it neatly in the bag. “Don’t be silly. Thank you, too! I’m sorry; sometimes I just get lost in my dancing and don’t look where I’m going. Are you okay?” Upon the girl’s confirmation, she’d flash a smile. “Okay, good.” She pointed to the fruit in the girl’s hand. “You can keep that one. It’s so nice of you to help me; most people are too busy and just walk off.” She shrugged, and turned, crouching down to pick up more scattered groceries. They were mostly fruits and vegetables, things that could be made without much preparation. She had splurged a little on some basic seasonings; they went a long way to making the community’s soup taste like an actual cuisine instead of just slurry they had to swallow to survive. She picked up some other things, that couldn’t be grown or scrounged; bread, crackers, noodles, rice… cheap staples that would help fill over a dozen hungry mouths. “I don’t think we’ve met,” she said. Her tone was sing-song and casual, as if their collision happened years in the past and had been long forgotten. “I’m Cadence! I love your dress, wow! Do you sew?” The bird was unaware of the curious eyes watching the pair of them. This far into the slums, where Cadence often tread, it was mostly people making sure the little walking entertainment was safe and sound. But there was always the chance that less friendly eyes were around. Still, she hummed to herself, oblivious to them all. The dream of the future you see, dissolves... Fey heaved a heavy sigh, the conclusion that this girl would have thought her a thief was a conclusion she had admittedly jumped to faster than a rabbit down its hole. It was embarrassing as the girl in front of her brushed the whole thing off without missing a beat. She seemed like an odd one saying most people would have just walked off. Most people would have bitten your head off for knocking them over and scattering their groceries, too. “Yeah, I'm alright.” Fey replied quietly, setting the rest of the items she held back into the girls bag, saved for the one piece of fruit she had been offered. Normally she would have insisted on giving it back, but her head was still reeling in the sudden flurry of interaction. “Its ok... I wasn't paying attention either. I don't want to see food get wasted either.” She replied with a little explanation, crouching down to continue help gathering up the scattered fruits and vegetables. When the other girl flashed a smile Fey returned it, admittedly somewhat nervously. This girl was so... breezy compared to the normal slum dweller, which set her off kilter. [break][break] “Oh... My names Fey, I-” She began an introduction, only to cut off, her eye flicking downward towards her dress. “Huh? No. Well, yes, a little. But this is new...er.” Fey began to reply, lightly plucking at the fabric of her dress with an index finger and thumb. She was fortunate enough to be able to trade in her dingy old patchwork dress for something newer not long ago, still bought second hand, but newer. She couldn't help but pinch some pennies a bit. “I like your... feathers...” Fey replied, trying to politely repay the compliment. It was hardly common she got one, so she figured she should do the same. But she did find the girls feathers to be interesting, she hadn't seen another magi with that particular formation in the past. Her eye lingered on them for a moment, in a way she wished her own had aspects been... softer, so to speak. She had liked animals, so she could not help but envy others with those characteristics a bit. [break][break] Still, ones like that must have been difficult she imagined, being not easily concealed. Fey could already feel peering eyes around them which did little to put her at ease. She wanted to duck away out of sight, but at the moment it would have been too conspicuous. The avian girl, Cadence, didn't seem to be bothered by this at all however. It must have been nice to be that care free and chipper. “Are you alright, too, by the way?” Fey finally asked, mostly as a way to fill the space. She pretty clearly seemed alright with how much energy she had, but she could hardly think of anything to say.

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever “Oh, I know!” She said, shaking her head. “Wasting food is one of the worst things, isn’t it? So many people would have loved it! But a little dirt isn’t going to hurt these~” She sung the last few words and laughed. “But really, I insist you take that!” Between the two, it didn’t take long to refill the grocery bag with all the scattered goods. She dusted herself off, leaving the bag on the ground between the two magi. She moved her head around, examining Fey’s dress with her usual ignorance of personal bubbles. Her own dress was poorly altered; Cadence had tried to learn sewing by fixing up the kids’ clothes, but her stiches never did last long. There were obvious tears in the fabric where she had to open space for her wings. Speaking of wings, Cadence beamed at the compliment, then turned around as she put her arms out, spreading them fully. “Thank you!” She said, spinning her back to the girl briefly, to show her what they looked like from that angle. She had no intent of showing off, but she was happy to be proud of her looks. “Most of my family has black feathers, but I was born with white. Al-bin-ism, I think,” she said, recalled how Shinzu had pronounced it. “It means my feathers and hair don’t have color! I… didn’t used to like it,” she admitted, her voice dropping a little. “I felt kind of… alone? But nobody really cared, so I kind of like them now! It makes me different.” When she turned back to face her, she examined her face a little more closely. She spotted the girl’s curling horns, nearly hidden under her hair. “Oh! Fey, those are such pretty horns, too! Hm? Oh, oh yes, I’m okay.” She looked down and around at herself. Besides some superficial scrapes, she couldn’t feel anything wrong with her. “Pardon me if this is prying, but I haven’t seen you around before. The dream of the future you see, dissolves... Fey gave a small smile. Not wasting food was a common view within the slums, and for good reason. Plenty of them knew what it was like to go hungry for days. She was sure there were only a handful of people living in the slums that would have been turned off by a little dirt as well. Fey flinched when the girl suddenly moved in close, her eyes widening a bit as she was being looked over. She could feel her skin heating up and her eyes wandered about. This couldn't have been more conspicuous. The girl seemed nice, but Fey was kicking herself for not paying more attention to avoid this sort of situation all the same [break][break] She gave a quiet sigh of relief when the girl backed away to begin showing off her wings. Fey couldn't help but stare a bit as she spread them out to full mast. They may have seemed like trouble, but she had to admit it was impressive. “You could be a performer with those.” Fey replied with a light smile, she had to feel for the girl a bit if she were so different from her family, but it seemed to make her striking. Standing out may have not been the best trait for a magi in today's world, but with any hope ones like this girl would have a bright future. She could even admire the girls cheery attitude about the whole thing. It took a certain kind of person to look on the brighter side like that. [break][break] In the next moment the girl was back at her face after showing off her wings, and pointing out a little detail about her appearance she had tried to hide. She wondered if the phrase 'eyes like a hawk' would have been appropriate here. Fey's hands shot to her hood and tugged down on it sharply, her eyes wide open and darting around the area. “Oh... they're... uh....” Fey muttered, her nerves suddenly shot on edge and unsure what to really say. In the same moments she wondered if it was silly to panic like she was, when the girl in front of her was so obviously a magi. “...I'm glad you're ok.” She said, with a small effort to change the subject away from her appearance. [break][break] “Ah... no, not in the city. Well, I live here. Sort of.” Fey gave a somewhat awkward laugh, her living situation had become a bit tough to describe, but she could say she lived in the slums if nothing else. “Um... I could try to patch your dress... if you'd like...” Fey continued, another change of subject. She didn't want to be rude to the girl, but the patching of her dress had looked a bit haphazard. And she seemed nice enough that offering a hand did not look like a large risk. “...or maybe my old one would...no no.” Fey's mind wandered off for a moment, muttering lightly to herself before shaking her head.
Notes Don't give her your dingy old dress, Fey. Thats not any better.

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Cadence jumped and made a delightful little squeal, that came out more like a chirp. “I am a performer, actually! I’m a musician and a singer!” She was in full ramble-mode now, completely oblivious to the girl’s discomfort. Nobody could say Cadence wasn’t passionate about what she did. “I do some singing at the bars around here, and even in the streets sometimes! Oh, if you ever find yourself in my area of the slums, say hello! I could do a little performance for you, maybe a song or two, if you want. Do you really think I look like a performer? Wow, that’s so nice of you! I do have a little better dress for those but it’s not much to look at.” The problem with air magi singers was that they had endless lungs. Fortunately for Fey, Cadence’s brain ran out of words before she ran out of breath. She nodded at Fey. “Yep, I’m fine; I fall a lot, so I’m kind of used to it,” she said, adding a sheepish laugh and scratching the back of her head. She tapped her feet up and down. Stupid huge bird feet. If only there was more airspace in the city. “Oh, that would be sweet, but I couldn’t ask that of you,” Cadence said. “You don’t need to do that for me. It’s not pretty but it does its job, you know?” She did perk up at the offer; it would be nice to have a little less in the way of holes and tears in her clothes, but… Oh! “Actually, if you, ah, do mean it,” she said, looking down as if shy to ask her for a favor. “There are a pair of kids I watch. Orphans. I think they could use better clothes more than I could. I just… can’t really afford to get them nice things.” She sighed with a wistful little smile. “I’d like to get them into a school, but if I can’t even get them clothes, I’m worried it’s a long shot.” She jumped up a bit. Ah! She did it again. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to go on. I just don’t know when to shut up! D-don’t worry about it, really. I have a pretty big performance coming up, actually. Maybe with that money I can… well, give them a better life than one on the streets. The dream of the future you see, dissolves...
Fey flinched and blinked a few times, once again at the sound of the girls chirping. So she was a performer, it seemed she picket the right career to match her appearance. Fey gave a little smile, it suited her. She was clearly an enthusiastic and friendly girl, a good demeanor to have if you wanted to be an entertaining. “I see. Thats good for you.” Fey gave a small laugh, she couldn't help but let her guard down a little. The girl sheepishly scratched her cheek with an index finger, taking a glance around the area. “I'm around here a lot... almost every day, really. So maybe I will, sometime.” She had to admit a song and performance sounded nice. She liked arts and music, from what little she had been able to see of it. It would be a rare treat. Fey even found herself feeling a bit jealous, she wished she would have been able to nurture a talent like that. The girl nodded, to her eye this avian girl really did look to be the picture of a performer. [break][break] Fey's eye flicked down to the girls feet when they tapped against the ground. That did seem like trouble when you were walking around the city. They gave her an interesting look but certainly didn't seem practical. “Yeah, I do.” Fey gave a small shrug, she knew plenty well what it was like to make due with haphazard clothing. It was always the least of her concerns, the majority of the time at least. She wasn't surprised the offer was declined, she would have done the same if someone had offered that to her. She was surprised to hear a request for someone else however. Fey gave a small sigh hearing the story, it seemed this girl really was trying to help a lot of people. [break][break] “Sure... I'll help. I never had the chance to go to school... so...” Fey muttered out, it was a bit embarrassing to admit, but she knew the difficulties in not having a proper education. If she could even do a little something to help someone else not have to deal with that trouble. The girl seemed to go into a bit of a panic a moment after her question, to which Fey simply shook her head. “No... I can see you're trying... so I'll help. I can't do much... but... I want to see things get better... so we don't have to live these sorts of lives...” Fey's eye turned away, glancing down towards the ground. It was something she wasn't quite comfortable with, but someone had to extend a helping hand if anything was ever going to get better. And she had been helped recently, so she supposed it was only right to try and repay that, somehow. “Besides... who will ever help us if we don't try to help eachother.” She stated finally with a heavy breath, trying to calm her nerves. It was important for the magi to help one another, if nothing else.

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever “Yeah, me either!” Cadence said at Fey’s admission. “The camps didn’t have much of one, and I can’t afford it for myself. I can’t even read or write much.” She shrugged, clearly okay with this. “I don’t really need school for what I do. But the kids are young; they can make use of it! Even if I can get them in for a year, it’s better than nothing.” She cooed with delight and jumped up with a spin, her airtime a little floaty as wind whipped around the pair. “You’re so right! It’s nice to meet people who know it’s good to help others. Well! I’ll take you up on your offer- are you free now? I don’t live far from here. Oh! And you can stay for dinner, if you’d like! Really, it’s the least I can do. And then you’ll know where to find me if you want to come see me!” Cadence chattered on like a bird chirping away at a morning song. Every movement bounced with delight. She leaned down to pick up her grocery bag and heaved it up to her chest once more, nodding for Fey to follow her, if she was agreeable to the plan. Either way, Cadence would continue rambling on to Fey. She would tell her all about the kids, and how nice they were, and then go on to talk about the rest of the little homeless community, and how helping each other out really put them all in a better spot. Her lungs rarely ran out of breath, and she was completely ignorant of whether or not Fey was trying to edge in; though if she did, Cadence would take an embarrassed pause, finally realizing how carried away she got. If not, she would chat with the girl all the way down the winding alleys to her home. “This is where I live!” She said, proud of the ramshackle, worn, and vandalized little storage facility. Garage-like doors in various degrees of rust and abuse lines the dirty alley; her unit was the one with music notes painted on the door. “Here, would you like to come inside? I can show you my harp! And my piano!” She would set the bag down and, with a little struggling, open the dented and dirty door, lifting it up to reveal her living space, whether Fey said yes or no. The inside was dusty and small, but neatly arranged. The walls were filled with chalk drawings done by the kids. A piano and harp sat against one wall, taking up almost the entire thing; they were clean, unsullied, and pristine, contrasting sharply with the rest of the minimal, dingy room. A cot on the floor and two other dresses hung from scrap wire strung from one wall to the other. There was also a little amp and a violin case, in similar condition to the instruments. It was clear Cadence didn’t own much of anything beyond them. The dream of the future you see, dissolves...
Fey gave a small nod. It was almost surprising this girl came from the camps. She was so chipper she would have hardly expected her to come from that background. But in the end she should have, most magi above a very young age would have found themselves in one for some period of time. That was the sad reality of things. “Too late for me, but at least someone else could have the chance...” She gave a sigh, it was unfortunate this girl hadn't even gotten to read or write much. She was glad her mother had taken the time to teach her those at least, even if she had to admit she hardly got to read anything like a book. She thought of offering to help Cadence brush up but ultimately chose not to, it seemed too forward. And she wasn't even sure how to begin teaching someone else a thing. [break][break] Her eye jerked up when the bird hopped up into the air and floated down. It looked like she really could have flown with those if she wanted to. Fey couldn't help but laugh, before quickly raising her hands up and shaking her head. “I'm free but-... O-oh no... thats fine... You don't have to feed me too. ” She blurted out quickly, half cutting herself off as she did so. She had no desire to be rood, but she did not want to take any of this girls food. She didn't want to take anything she had earned for herself. Still, before long she was being swept away in this girls breezy attitude. She could not help but follow on behind as she sauntered away. [break][break] Fey let the girl ramble on about this and that as they walked, simply giving hums and nods as responses. She seemed so happy to be talking about even these little things that she couldn't bring herself to interrupt. After a while they arrived at the building the girl apparently called her home. Fey looked it over with a hum. Like most anything in the slums it didn't look like much, but a home was a home. Just having a place to stay was what mattered, she knew that full well. When the door opened up Fey peeked inside, her eye glancing around. She was surprised to actually see well kept instruments inside. [break][break] The girl's eye lit up a bit, quite literally with a small change in hue as she stepped over to the instruments, curiously looking them over. She avoided touching them but shuffled here and there, back and forth as she looked them over. It took a moment before she realized she was intruding and whipped around with a sheepish smile. “A-ah! Sorry... I've never seen one up close... before...” The girl muttered with a small laugh, embarrassed at the sudden, uncharacteristic action. She gave a small sigh, her eye tracing around the walls of the room dotted with drawings.

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Cadence laughed as she took a seat in the stool before the piano. “Not surprised! They’re kind of expensive, I’ve heard. I got lucky; they were my mom’s; she must have had them before the relocations. Lucky too that whoever owned this place must have forgotten about it!” She danced her fingers on the keys, playing a low, muted scale all the way to the end of the piano. The sound was lovely, echoing lightly in the confined space and out into the alley. “It’s not always easy to maintain them,” she admitted. She gave the piano a few pats, like it was a pet. “Had to learn myself, but… it’s nice, now. It’s kind of like taking care of memories, making sure they stay pure and happy.” Her smile quivered for a second, but she shook the sadness free. No, just like Ari had said. I had to be strong for them, and pave a better future. She scooted over on the bench and pat it lightly. “Come on, play a few notes! You’re not gonna break it.” After letting Fey tap at the keys, if she wanted to, Cadence would point out the right ones to press to play a small, basic scale. She would give her a thumbs up and a wide smile, telling her that she was a natural. If the girl seemed happy enough to do so, Cadence would say “You can come by whenever if you want to learn!” After showing Fey all the instruments and talking about her parents some more, she would pick up the bag of groceries once more and ask her to follow for another block, down a winding alley, which grew surprisingly cleaner as they went on. The alleyway widened out a bit to a clearing, obviously frequently used not due to trash, but to the halfway homely feel to it; a nice looking fire pit, clean (but obviously once trash) benches and picnic tables and patio umbrellas, organized crates and bins filled with various things like tools, cookware, and firewood, clothes hanging from lines… As far as the slums went, this place looked rather nice. She set the grocery bag on a table, then reached up and grabbed some small clothes from the lines. “So these are the ones,” she said, holding the outfits out and displaying the many tears in each. “I guess they’re not around right now. So, um, I’m not sure if you want to do this now? I have a sewing kit in that box of tools, though it isn’t much. If you wanted to do it now, I could start cooking, if you’re hungry? O-or whenever! I don’t want to bother you...” [attr="class","text-lyrics"]Always on my lips you will dance so sweetly the leviathan @ GS & BRSW[newclass=.icon-bg]padding:10px;border:1px solid #000;height:100px;width:100px;margin-right:10px;[/newclass][newclass=.iconhere]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity: 0;[/newclass][newclass=.iconheres:hover]-moz-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.9s ease-in-out;opacity:1;[/newclass][newclass=.notestxt]padding-top:20px;font:small-caps 10px 'Times New Roman',serif;color:#fff;text-align:justify;padding:10px;overflow:auto;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics]display:inline-block;font: italic 9px/100% Times New Roman,serif;text-align:center;letter-spacing:1px;width:80%;border-bottom:1px solid #000;line-height:0.1em;margin:10px 0 20px;margin-left:30px;[/newclass][newclass=.text-lyrics span]background:#fff;padding:0 10px;[/newclass] [newclass=.post]font:11px Times New Roman,serif;color:#1c1c1c;padding:0px 20px 0px 0px;height:350px;width:330px;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;line-height:130%;position:relative;margin-top:-400px;margin-left:100px;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-track]border:1px solid #000;background-color:#fff;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color:#000;[/newclass][newclass=.post::-webkit-scrollbar]width:4px;background-color:#fff;[/newclass]

The dream of the future you see, dissolves...
Fey couldn't help but watch curiously as the little birds fingers ran over the keys with a quick stream of sound. She had never even seen a piano actually in person let alone being played, even simply. They were expensive she was sure, but she could also be sure these meant more as a memento then as a price tag. She gave a small smile, she knew those things were important. The only thing she had to serve as one was a dingy little scarf. “It must have been tough... but it still sounds nice.” She said with a small nod. She didn't much know what one was supposed to sound like, but it didn't come out as simply noise so she imagined something had to have been done right. [break][break] Furthermore it was impressive she was able to learn by herself. She must have had talent to do so. Fey could see a bit of shift in the girls face for a moment, a pang of some suffering she was pushing back. Her eye faltered for a moment, she knew that feeling. But before she could dwell on it her attention was pulled back by an offer to play. “H-huh? Me? It won't be... I mean I've never...” Fey stammered out for a moment, before giving a sigh and sitting down. She might not have had an opportunity like this ever again. [break][break] She looked over the keys of the piano, extended an index finger and gently pressed down on one. A high toned sound rang out and drifted out through the room. She repeated the motion a few times, on a few different keys. She followed the instructions to play the basic scale, and for a moment her face lit up. It was nothing special, but she had always wondered what it would be like to do anything with an instrument. She returned Cadence's smile with one of her own, but raised a hand with a sheepish laugh at her offer. “I couldn't trouble you with that much... its not like I can do much with it...” A sigh escaped her, she did think it would have been nice to learn, but she wasn't sure she had the time to spend doing it. [break][break] A few more moments passed before they departed once again, down another series of streets and pathways. The area they moved into seem to get a bit nicer as they went, finally entering into an area with tables and benches set around. This was one of the places she had never wandered before, and her eye drew around curiously. A moment later her gaze flicked to a set of clothes displayed before her. Fey hummed lightly, looking over the torn up fabric. She looked up to Cadence with a nod. “Sure, I can start. It might take a little while.” She gave a small smile, taking one of the pieces of clothing in hand and looking over the tears more carefully.

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever With smile and encouragement, she let Fey play with the instrument a bit longer; she was clearly enjoying it more than her hesitation claimed. She recognized that little spark; she saw it from each of the kids as she taught them, and even a curious older magi or two, who had always wanted to play but never did. She tilted her head, then at Fey’s unexpected protest to her offer. “You’re sure? It doesn’t have to be useful to be enjoyed, you know,” she said. She stood up from the bench with a small smile. “Well, the offer stands. Come on by anytime. I’m usually here, or by the temple, if I’m in town.” Before they departed, Cadence would take a thin cloth and wipe the keys down before lowering the wooden cover over them. She would prattle on about music during the short walk down the alley, to the “community center” as it was dubbed. With an excited jump, the bird fetched her meager sewing kit and set it near Fey. There wasn’t much to it; a few half-used bobbins in black, white, and a few other colors, three needles, and a piece of spare cloth that was used as a pushpin for the dozen pins she had. “Sorry, it’s not much,” she said, suddenly self-conscious about the meager supplies she had. “I’m going to start cooking. Is there anything you dislike, or are allergic to?” She started gathering food from the various coolers and makeshift shelves in the area, having to tip-toe up to reach the higher shelves. The amount of food she was gathering made it clear she was planning to make food for a lot more than two people. She hummed lightly as she gathered up fruits, vegetables, and fresh fish, put them on a table, and went to work preparing them with as clean of a knife as she had. She was grateful for her little family of a dozen or so; some spent their days fishing, some had gardens, some knew where to find good salvage, and some were crafty; together, they could keep each other fed, and sheltered. The little clearing here was an intersection for a few alleyways, back in an undeveloped part of Dagos; it was mostly ignored, and often out of the way, so they didn’t get much trouble, aside from the occasional wandering hunter. It was a surprisingly homely setup; shelves, nooks for shelter, supplies, and even a beat-up minifridge hooked to a half-broken solar panel. She would punctuate her singing with conversation with Fey as they both went to work on their various tasks. Mostly, she was curious about the girl. What did she do? How long did she live here? Does she have a place to stay? What does she do for fun? Does she have friends? She couldn’t help herself from bombarding the girl with questions; she was a curious crow, after all, and her social graces were, well, lacking. The dream of the future you see, dissolves...
Fey blinked a bit, giving a small sheepish laugh at the little birds words. She supposed that was right, and when it came down to it it was not like she was lacking in time. She was used to having every waking moment dedicated to trying to find some work or money so she could eat, but even with just having a place to stay the need to do so was lessened drastically. “I... might take you up on your offer, if I have some free time.” She would give a belated reply after they arrived at the community center, taking the sewing kit that was handed to her. [break][break] Fey shook her head, glancing at the contents inside for a moment. She rolled the long sleeves of her dress up and folded them over her elbows as to not be in the way, plucked a needle and a thread of at least mostly matching color to the first garment, a shirt, and took a moment to carefully loop the thread through the needle. “Oh its fine, I've worked with less.” Fey stated matter of factually. She had been forced to mend her own clothing with threads made from frayed old rope sewn together with broken discarded needles of illicit origins before, a proper needle and thread was a far cry from those times. She cringed to herself thinking about it. [break][break] “Oh, uhm, I'm not allergic to anything, I don't think. And I'm not too picky.” She gave a light smile and a dry laugh, she still didn't want to take Cadence's food, but to reject at this point would have been rude. Fey quickly went to work on mending the garment, carefully poking the needle through the fabrics to pull the thread along the lines of the tears. If she was going to eat she could at least pay the girl back with this. [break][break] She could hear Cadence begin to hum, and soon followed suit without quite meaning to. She hummed quietly to herself as she worked, patching up each tear as best she could. Swapping threads to match, occasionally heating the tip of a needle with the tips of her fingers to pierce more smoothly. When a question came up in between each of their work Fey's eye would flick towards the girl, pausing for a moment before answering. “I've been doing odd jobs for a while... I guess I'm still kind of doing that.” She replied vaguely to the first, with a small laugh. She wasn't sure quite how to describe the work she would be doing now. That was probably for the best, anyway. [break][break] “I've been here for years. I just got a little place to stay... It's not much but I'm glad to have it...” The girl gave a small nod, for her it was great just to have it. “I uh... don't really have any hobbies... or friends...” She couldn't help but give a small sigh. Those were things she had hardly even thought about for years. It felt odd to think about it after so long, but after stating it she had to give pause and correct herself. “Well, I guess I could have one friend... Shes kind of my boss, but she helped me a lot so I hope we can be friends.” Fey said, a bit of embarrassment tinging her cheeks. This little birds attitude was really proving infectious, it was hard to avoid being cheerful around her.

[attr="class","post"] [attr="class","text-lyrics"]I'll sing it forever Cadence was happy to have a partner hum along with her little tune; it always made the songs feel less lonely. She’d turn from the food to watch Fey for a few moments, before returning to chopping vegetables. “Odd jobs, hm? Well, jobs are jobs, I suppose, nothing odd about that,” she said, laughing at her own lame joke. “It seems to be doing well for you! That’s always nice to see; not many Magi are so lucky, y’know? I’m glad I even get as many small gigs as I do.” Her expression fell when she heard Fey had no friends. Really? How many isolated Magi were there, really? But she fell back into her singsong attitude as Fey talked about a particular friend of hers. “Well, if she helped you out, I’m sure she wants to be your friend!” Cadence chimed. “It’s good to have friends. We can be friends, too, if you’d like! You can visit here whenever you want. I can introduce you when everyone gets back!” She had been making a number of acquaintances lately, even that of a goddess. It was nice… her community here was family, but the people outside of it were special, too. Maybe she’d have to gather them all up for a big cookout one of these days. Once her food prep was done, she took a bucket to a spout that lead up to a plastic barrel rigged to the side of a building with wood and ropes. She pulled down on a string, and surprisingly clear water flowed into the bucket. One of the old magi, now gone, had shown them how to collect rainwater, and how to use simple things as filters. It wasn’t ideal, but it was better than puddle water. She transferred buckets into a large pot on top of the makeshift firepit, hanging just above the cylinder made from old stone and bricks. A cut piece of an old shopping cart lay over the opening of the pit, turning it into a little grill that was tucked neatly under the soup pot. She put some kindling and wood inside a little makeshift “door” on the side of the grill and knelt in front of it, her face contorted in concentration. She had a small piece of flint and put of metal, trying with little success to start up the fire. She could barely even make a decent spark. “Dangit… how does Fiamma make this look so easy…” She huffed.
