Personality overall
Orion is a single-minded man who has only one real drive in his life: destroy the Magi. His life was forever changed when his mother was killed in an accident involving these magical beings, and he has been hunting the wayward beings ever since. A devout follower of Kalidas, he has devoted his life to protecting humanity from the magical beings among them. To that end, he is only happy when he is hunting them, and he can be moody and grouchy when his trail has run cold, or when he has no task ahead of himself. Previous to this, however, he was attending the University, and he has retained some interests from the more refined and civilized time in his life, such as a love of piano music and children. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he is not driven by bloodlust, but rather by a determination that he is doing the right thing. However, despite his positive intentions, he is downright unpleasant to most people because of the anger he still feels, and because he views most other people as either incompetent or not really devoted to their task.
Person to person, Orion seems to speak only two languages: sarcasm and sullen silences. Only people with a thick skin would find it easy to interact with him, since he always says what is on his mind and never lies, whether the truth hurts or not. He dislikes the disruption to his routine that comes from having friendships, and rarely pursues them for this reason. He is unable to see Cyborgs or Magi as sentient beings deserving respect, and the only people he seems to get along with are children.

Taller than the average at 6'4", Orion is the picture of toned strength, rather than bulk. Although he is wide in the shoulder, his strength comes from skill and hard work, rather than any natural muscle. His hair is black (with a brown tint in sunlight) and usually disorderly, much to his great annoyance. Only when it is long will it behave even halfway, and practical concerns about his senses contribute to him keeping it at about shoulder-length. His dark hair contrasts with eyes that are pale blue in the middle and dark around the edges.
Another distinguishing mark is the X-shaped scar on his left cheek, near his jaw, which he got on a hunting trip. He wears a pearl earring on that side to remind himself of his mother, and to remind himself why he hunts. Although most of his skin is usually hidden by his dark clothes, he has a number of unusual scars that result from hunts and occasionally training accidents. He does not consciously hide these, and is instead proud of them. He tends to have good posture, and only slouches when he is trying to conceal himself, such as if he is tailing someone. He is a scowler, however, and only looks relaxed when he is alone and listening to music.
Fashion
Orion tends to wear black because it blends in easily with the city, whether it is dark or not. He wears shoulder pauldrons and a bullet proof piece over his stomach during the hunt, but leaves the rest of himself less well protected, out of deference for Kalidas. His black gloves fit tightly and allow him to wield his sword and his guns with equal ease, while protecting him. Typically, his sweater has a neck that goes at least halfway up, although it lacks sleeves. He likes black cargo pants because he loves the pockets, and it allows him to be prepared when he is going about his business. His black belt also has compartments for storage, and he mostly keeps his ink, paper, and rune supplies in it.

biography
Born in Dagos City to Sera and Artemis Lorne, Orion began life as the second son of a very poor family. While his mother and father worked hard, it was barely enough to scrape by a living in the slums, with his father working in a factory and his mother working in a casino. It was rare that the family got to spend much time together when Orion was young, and he was mostly raised by his brother, who kept a close eye on the curious boy when their parents were at work. It was Theron who taught Orion to read, and Theron who realized that he was an exceptionally bright child. He encouraged Orion in his studies, even while Theron himself was more involved in the shady side of Dagos. To make up the money that the family needed for rent, it was Theron who dropped out of school and took a job as a courier for one of the Downer runners in Dagos. He pushed Orion in his studies, and Orion eventually graduated near the top of his class. Growing up in the slums as he had, Orion was curious about magic, and decided to enroll in the University straight out of high school. His high grades allowed him to enroll on a scholarship.
Once Orion went off to school, Theron took the little money that he had managed to put back and moved to Felici to be closer to Orion. However, he didn't leave his drug running days behind, and he has been in and out of legal trouble ever since coming to the capital. Orion, however, excelled in his studies. His star might have continued to rise in the Runic University if it wasn't for the incident. On her way home from work one night, Orion's mother accidentally came between a group of Magi and their sleazy upper dealer. Her death was mostly an accident, with the Magi already jumpy and terrified, and the dealer ready to double-cross them, but when the dust settled, Sera lay dead. Orion took off from school to attend her funeral, but Theron did not come, which led to a falling out between them. Overcome with grief and rage, Orion found solace in the Temple of Kalidas, he decided to devote his life to hunting down Magi, and making humanity safe from them.
These days, Orion splits his time between hunting and school, but his true allegiance lies with the Hunter's Guild. As a result, he is moving through his schooling more slowly than he would otherwise, devoting more time to weapon's training and praying to Kalidas than he would to his runes. His runic training remains at the beginning level, despite his initial promise, but he has excelled as a Hunter. He hasn't heard much from his brother or his father in a while, but the thought rarely disturbs him.

Runic Novice: After a lengthy period of time studying the Olden Language you have now been given your first small amount of ink to practice. Well done, student. You can now do Simple Magic Circles with very basic Instructions.

Purchased abilities
Runic Apprentice: You have proven yourself to be a trustworthy student in the Runic Practice. You are careful in forming each and every stroke (when being tested at least) and have memorized the symbols thus far given you. The professors have decided that you are ready to learn more symbols and phrases. You've now started to combine runes in to more complex Circles. ***Your max circle count is 3.
Runic Advanced: This is the level that approved professor characters will be placed at. Not too newbie where someone will ask "um, why are you a teacher?" but still allowing room for the character to upgrade their abilities. Your circle knowledge is enough that you can even put a complex circle within a complex circle. ***Your max circle count is 5.
Runic Expert: You are at the top of your field. It is not an odd sight to see a Runic User at this level to not only charitably help society but take paid jobs through the Government and the Hunter Guild. But most importantly, you are the major force of the University itself. Your skill has reached the point that you can have even 3 levels of complex runes within a single rune. ***Your max circle count is 7.
Sharpshooter: Skilled with projectiles and able to aim them with a high proficiency. Even if you are a level Firearm III, you are, with the purchase of this ability, considered a IV. This also applies to the Throwing and Archery skills. You serve the Goddess of the Hunt for a reason.
Aroma Memory: (Upgrade of Heightened Sense of Smell) Can now memorize smells and categorize them mentally. Sure, you can recognize the smell of apple fritters. But now you can tell apart the smell of one person to another. For instance, you'll recognize the scent of the escaped prey from five months ago.
Bound: Enhanced jumping distances. You can now bound over a good ten feet. Just be careful on your landing. Wouldn't want you to break a leg. It's happened, poor John Doe.
Hunter's Step: Through practice and patience, you have learned to dampen the noise generated by your foot falls. At this level, your footsteps are fairly quiet, though a person in close proximity is still likely to hear you.
Hunter's Sprint: Your nimble steps have become such a part of your movement, even in the frenzy of running you are silent, unobstructed, and leave little trace in your wake.
Tracking I: Your knowledge of tracks is at its base level. You know animal tracks and can vaguely place how long they've been there. However you cannot tell a direction unless there's a clear path.
Tracking II: Your senses have increased, now you can notice other things to track like broken twigs and displaced greenery. Using these variables you can now infer a direction towards your prey.
Pack Sense: Just as wolves hunt in packs, so to are Hunters meant to hunt as a single unit. You gain the ability to sense your fellow Hunters' exact position in a 25 foot radius around you. Both Hunters must have this ability for it to function properly.
Pack Tactics: (Upgrade to Pack Sense) In addition to being able to sense your fellow Hunters within a fifty foot radius, you are now able to form a link with them that allows you to vaguely sense their emotional state, such as when they are in danger or in pain. At the same time you can sense their attack pattern, allowing you to work efficiently against the same target. You must both have this ability to for it to function properly.
Spirit Sense: As a Hunter, you have been gifted with senses that far exceed that of your fellow mortals. Through rigorous training you have succeeded in learning to hone your senses to a razors edge, granting you a sort of “sixth sense” that allows you to sense nearby spirits as well as gauge their general location. (To purchase this ability, you must first complete an in-character thread with someone who already possess it so that they may train you)

Hunter's Greatsword (Unique Hunter Weapon): A massive two-handed weapon, Orion's great sword was created from the bones of an Air Magi. Because of its magical components, it is not quite as heavy as it looks, and has the ability to dispel Air magic. Orion wears this weapon down his back. Commonly used to create distance or in close hand-to-hand combat, the Hunter's Greatsword is unwieldy to anyone without the proper muscle and size to command its bulk.
