Travelling back to Ikigai was always a pleasure for Reine. Well, travelling anywhere was a pleasure, but there was something about Ikigai that Reine always enjoyed, even beyond the fact that this was one of the most welcoming countries for magi. While he simply couldn't bring himself to settle down in one place forever, if he could, Reine would happily have come back to Ikigai time and time again.
Reine had been enjoying the local delicacies and a few of the simpler events, when he heard a voice in heavily-accented Ethean that caught his attention. Looking over, he saw a vendor standing behind a counter, but what caught his eye was the game: a group of brightly coloured hollow balls floating in a small pool. "Is that what I think it is...? Reine approached, taking a look. As the vendor talked, Reine shook his head. ["It's fine. I speak some Ikigaian."] Ikigaian had always been a complicated language for Reine even at the best at times, so he'd struggled with working at a bar. Thank goodness his sister had given him help and plenty of practice. ["This is...kingyo sukui, right? I very much like this game!"]
While he had a fondness for many festival games, goldfish scooping was one of his particular favourites. Sadly he rarely saw it outside of Ikigai and anywhere but Ikigai that he had tried it...well, they'd always seemed like they were trying too hard in some way that he couldn't quite put his finger on. In the rush of his settling down in Ethea a short while ago it seemed like he'd almost forgotten all about this! Still, at least now he'd get another chance. ["I may have a game, please?"] Reine handed over a bit of money, and in turn took one of the nets.
Having played this game a few times before, he'd started to learn there was a certain knack to it. It was all a matter of timing - the paper in the nets wasn't meant to survive for long. Move too quickly and the paper would tear before one could catch anything. Move too slowly and nothing would be able to be caught at all. Reine took a moment to watch over the pool, watching the fish move like a hawk. Reine carefully raised the net over the water and then, being careful when the net broke the water, moved the net carefully through the water, trying to aim for a fish before bringing it up for one of the floating hollow balls. He'd rarely been able to catch fish but he was hoping at least to catch some of the money...
