The isles were much more lively than he remembered. Kai smiled easily as he walked down the crowded streets. Nearly everyone was gowned in those flowing robes, the layers of cloth and the familiar ties. Jonathan isn't entirely into the whole 'dressing up' part of the holiday but was more than content to snack on his favorite desserts, currently he was nibbling on a piece of manju while lustily staring at a nearby Dango stand. If only he stared at people like that more often, Kai would have had a sibling-in-law by now if his brother had the same interest in people as he did sweets- oh look at that, he bought two servings of mochi ice cream. Kai laughed a bit at his brother's anxious sweet tooth reminding him that they were both on a budget before they met back up with his parents later in the night.
But that was later.
Right now they could relax and enjoy their home.
They went on like this for a bit, checking out the dancers, (one of the dancing dragon magi in particular), enjoying the bustling stalls, the filling of familiarity. Kai sighed happily as he took in the overwhelming feeling of home. He really had been been missing this. Dagos had been pretty great, pretty scary too, but it was so depressing all the time. It was like the city smog was choking the people, squeezing out this life, their joy. It was so constricting, but so slow that you wouldn't even realize it. Kai laughed out reveling in the feeling of just being alive. After a while the brother's exploits had taken them to one of the various game stalls. This one had a dull fish tank. The clear waters inside clearly showing off the koi lazying swimming inside. With a pleading look to his brother and a bit of begging, Kai moved towards the stand. The man tried to explain in Ethean, but quickly switched when Kai started to speak the local Ikigaian. The rules were pretty simple and the fox magi was practically vibrating with excitement as the amused stall vendor handed him a scooper. With expectant and hopeful eyes, Kai reached in, slowly, hoping that today he could bring home a fish of his own to care for.
