IRILYS  GOD  OF

- Traditional and Modern .... Ear - ih - liss

How the Culture Perceives Him: Found within every court of law and school, a stone Irilys' widespread wings symbolize the welcoming for all that wish to learn. The God is always depicted as a variance of Owl.


How He Actually appears: This God's natural form is a giant bird-like creature with multiple eyes. However, even in the Heavens Irilys rarely wears that appearance. This God has only ever been recorded to appear as an Owl. So overall the culture is correct; Snowy Owl, Barn Owl, Pygmy Owl. The God does not seem to have a favorite breed. 

POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES
- Irilys honestly does not care about etiquette or being respected as others do. You will not be pecked to death if you disrespect Him. 
- Enjoys mortal children in an innocent way. To witness living beings who are more-or-less innocent intrigues Him. 


NEGATIVE ATTRIBUTES
- Because the God does not care if He is noticed or not, it's difficult to know if you've spotted the Great Owl or not. Often times Irilys will merely appear to be an average owl so good luck bird spotting I suppose. 
- Though the God is not vengeful when it comes to being disrespected Irilys will be more difficult to speak to if the mortal has been disrespectful before. 


WEAKNESSES
- You start scratching his head or under his chin, He melts. 
- Once Irilys learns of something He is ignorant of the God will press to learn everything about it. The Great Owl is even known to pick apart televisions, cell phones, and engines to learn what they're made of and how they work.

Irilys honestly does not have much of a history to speak of and this is because of his neutral standing. The Great Owl has never taken a side in any conflict and won't begin to now. If He were to get involved then there would be less to learn of the circumstances and their after affects. 

The only noteworthy moment worth mentioning is that Irilys actually founded the Runic University those many centuries ago. However over the years the University has taken a publicly acclaimed atheist label. It is unknown to all but the Headmaster if Irilys is still involved with the University's happenings or not. 

Preferred Offerings: Again, restating, this God does not require offerings or too much attention from mortals. In all honesty, this God is not known for showing up even when called. He's too busy learning something else somewhere else. I'm sure you understand. However, bringing a book never hurts. The God likes to read. Owl cuisine such as mice will never be frowned upon. And Lords know he likes getting his head scratched.
