Pegasus Irving,

this is gospel for the fallen ones

He is very good at winning at cards, although no-one's ever truly sure whether he counts the cards or he just has exceptional luck.  Except when he gets caught, anyway.  He likes winning at cards, and will take 'necessary measures' to make sure he does.  Sometimes though he isn't particularly good at hiding his efforts.  He greatly dislikes being interrupted while he is in the middle of something because it makes it more difficult to get back into whatever he's doing.  He enjoys sailing, reading and long walks on the beach.  No seriously, he really does like long walks on the beach.  He's well-read and takes pride in his understanding of a wide variety of topics, although if you get him relaxed enough to talk about those things he is also more likely to use swear words.  It isn't personal, it's a habit.  He literally swears like a sailor.  

He revels in being around the water, even more than a regular water magi might.  Part of that might be the times he was on land, he was in Suraja.  Oh and if you give him an opportunity to be sarcastic or sassy, fair warning he WILL take it.  There is no question.  Unless he's busy running from you.  If you're a hunter that might happen.  Watching him run away like a roadrunner is amusing considering you might expect something more graceful from the water magi.  

If something seemingly has a benefit to himself, he will at least consider it regardless of whether it'll be seen as wrong by others.  He is also terribly vain.  Pegasus knows he's good looking.  Damn, does he EVER know it.  And he lets it go to his head, flirting quite a lot with a good part of the population.  One thing you don't want to do is make Pegasus angry.  He will lash out violently if he thinks you've slighted him, or cheated him.  It's an ironic reaction considering how often he cheats people, but in his mind it's okay if he's the one doing it and...not as okay if someone is doing it to him.  If he becomes angry, he also becomes even more reckless and impulsive than he is regularly.

Pegasus has two forms, a male form and a female form.

His male form is strong, muscular and is six foot five. He has dark hair and golden eyes. Their irises are like that of a cat. Sometimes, Pegasus will put in a coloured contact to hide his magi trait, although he prefers not to do so. His right eye is hidden by an eyepatch, a solution to the fact the edge of his eye has a few dark lizard-like scales around it. When he walks, it is with a confident swagger in his step. He has small fins on his back, as well as gills on either side of his ribcage. The ends of his fingers have claws instead of fingernails, and his toes have claws as well although he files them down most of the time.  His canine teeth are slightly longer than normal, and very sharp. Each magi trait other than his teeth have a smattering of dark scales around them.

Pegasus's female form has a lithe and athletic frame.  She is five foot seven with brown hair and eyes that are the same gold.  However, she wears coloured contacts to give her a normal pupil and brown eyes.  She wears an eyepatch in public, although in polite company she doesn't wear one.  Whereas with her guy form she wears it for style as well as hiding the scales, in her female form she only wears it to hide the scales.










In male form, Pegasus can be seen rocking a track suit, or a regular suit.  He likes looking smart and often pairs it with a tie.  In female form, Pegasus prefers to wear a button down with suspenders and a jacket.  One constant is both forms wear slacks, although the male form is known to wear jogging pants as well as jeans.  Sometimes he even relaxes in sleeveless tops.  It all depends on where he is and how relaxed he feels.

Pegasus was born on March 5, 2569 in a Magi Relocation Camp.  When he was born, he was weak because of his mother's malnutrition.  At the time, there was a riot in the camp against the authorities and guards.  In the confusion it was determined that he would be better off transferred to one of the male camps with slightly better conditions.  And so he was separated from his birth mother.  One of the water magi in the camp he was in took on the role of taking care of the baby.  

When Pegasus was five, the water magi who had raised him died.  Nereus had been an older magi who finally couldn't handle the conditions in the relocation camp.  He had named Pegasus.  The child didn't know it at the time, but his guardian knew the name meant a mixture of 'strong' and 'from a water spring'.  The elderly magi had thought it prudent to pass on a name with some meaning to a younger generation.  When Nereus died, some other magi reluctantly started to help Pegasus find food and stuff he needed as he grew older.  However, he didn't receive the care he had in previous years from the aging magi.

The mass Magi breakouts from the camps occurred when Pegasus was eight years old.  He ran with a group of adult magi who had helped facilitate the breakout.  Planned it.  He was young and didn't understand much of what happened.  All he understood was that they were leaving the camp.  Pegasus didn't like the camp much...but he didn't know anything else.  He remembered some of the tales Nereus had told him once upon a time.  However, they seemed just like fairy tales.  Tales of other places in the world that didn't make magi stay in camps together.  Tales of times when even their own country hadn't done it.  Fairy tales!  

Together he and the magi he was with escaped to Suraja.  They lost some of the magi on the way to Suraja, and then some further dissipated once they were in Suraja.  He and an earth magi named Avani made their way to Elios together.  According to Avani, it was a place on the sea.  Pegasus looked forward to it, seeing so much water like he hadn't seen before.  Avani also started to teach him stuff he would've learned at school.

When they arrived in Elios, Avani laughed at Pegasus.  Said he hadn't thought the kid's eyes would sparkle quite like they did.  Pegasus couldn't believe the amount of water there was.  He went to dash in before Avani grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and held him back.  Said the water was too deep and that even a water magi would be able to drown if he wasn't careful.  They stayed in Elios for awhile.  Days were spent where Avani taught him to swim.  Then taught him playfully how to aim a pellet gun Avani had, and how to fight.  Just street fighting with a mix of a few different martial arts, but the earth magi claimed it would come in handy one day.  Pegasus didn't care.  It was fun.  That said, there's only so much teaching that can be done in a day.  Pegasus didn't necessarily have a large attention span.  For the most part, the street fighting was taught while Avani was looking for a job for them both.  He was a sailor by trade.  Finally they found a ship that wanted to hire him.  They were also fine with bringing Pegasus on as a cabin boy.  

When they embarked, Pegasus found ways to make his chores interesting.  To him, it was fun being on a boat.  It meant being surrounded by water, and he loved that.  And so at age nine, Pegasus became a cabin boy.  It was the first time he was part of a crew.  

Soon it was known that the ship had a water magi as part of the crew.  The crew was a mix of people from Suraja and Ikigai.  They were all perfectly happy with one.  In fact, on a ship like they were most of the crew regarded it as a good luck charm to have Pegasus onboard.  While they were sailing he did things like swabbing the deck and helping to clean the galley. 

When he was ten, the crew took on an eleven year old boy.  His mother joined the crew at the same time.  Aixi was an air magi, and he quickly settled into the work of the crow's nest.  On the crew downtime, Aixi taught Pegasus how to play a couple of instruments with his mother's help.  Pegasus took to it very much.  The crew sang as they were working already and he'd been told he had a good voice.  From then on, if morale was low the captain might approach Pegasus to sing and play the instruments to bring the crew's spirits up.  This was also the year that Avani finally put forward the paperwork to adopt Pegasus officially.

They all worked hard at transporting cargo for the next five years.  Some of the crew quit to go pursue other careers, and others replaced them on the ship.  Avani was made first mate because he was one of the adults who had been there the longest.  The captain had left it up to the senior members of the crew to sort out which of them were first mate, and they all trusted Avani.  They all voted for him to be first mate and the captain agreed with his crew.  Then they noticed profits were down.  The crew also stumbled across stuff in the cargo that shouldn't have been there.  This is how they discovered the captain had been transporting illegal weapons all that time to pad his pockets.  None of the crew was pleased considering that put them in danger.  They had discovered them by stumbling across a locked compartment in the hold.  They discovered it in a group of five, and one of them then picked the lock because they were super curious why it was locked.  When they found the weapons in there, they reported via the ship's radio when the captain was sleeping.  The captain was arrested and jailed.  The captain's first mate was looked into as well, but it was determined that he had nothing to do with the illegal dealings.  The first mate bought the ship with some money he'd been saving up for all that time.  And so Avani, the first mate, became the new captain of the ship, renaming it to be Sea Dragon.

When Pegasus was sixteen, the ship was hired by a guild of merchants connected to the Surajan government who wanted the sea's trade routes patrolled to make sure nothing was amiss, and to discourage pirates.  For the most part, it was peaceful work.  They did have scuffles with pirates a few times though.  The crew was capable of defending themselves and fighting offensively well too.  At the same time as they did this, they also hauled cargo from Suraja or Ikigai and back.  They avoided hauling things to Ethea considering the only port was in Felici.  A good part of their crew were magi after all, and it was dangerous.

Things stayed basically the same for the next four years.  Pegasus grew bigger and stronger, reaching new heights.  Quite literally, since he grew to six foot five.  Some of the crew retired, replaced by younger crew but otherwise business stayed the same.  Pegasus was no longer a cabin boy of course, and not even just a musician.  He was an important part of the crew, helping to navigate and to cook the meals in the galley.  He graduated through a distance learning school.  When he was twenty one they started letting him bartend in the galley.  Pegasus also started hanging out sometimes in the red light districts of cities while they were in port.  The rest of the crew just let him do his thing mostly, although Aixi teased him sometimes.

When Pegasus turned twenty two, Avani retired.  The earth magi said he was too old to captain a ship anymore.  Pegasus didn't argue as the man was one hundred and eighty years old.  At least that was the best guess.  Avani had lost track of his exact birthday somewhere in nearly two hundred years.  He put Pegasus in charge of the ship.  Pegasus chose his first mate to be Aixi, his longtime best friend.  

One day when Pegasus was twenty three, he received word from the ship radio that Avani wasn't doing so well and was likely in his last days.  Fortunately they weren't far from the port in Elios.  They sailed back and Pegasus was in time to help his father through his final days, helping to feed him and make sure he was okay in every way possible.  Avani passed away in July of 2592.  Upon finding the magi's will, Pegasus discovered he had been willed the Sea Dragon.  He organized his crew more properly the rest of that year, sailing with them.  However he quickly discovered he wasn't ready to sail again so soon after his father's death.  What he hasn't told anyone except those he's made inquiries carefully to, is that Avani's will also had a story he'd been told about Pegasus.  From word of mouth, Avani had been told about Nereus and how the elderly magi had not been Pegasus's parent.  That his real mother had been in another relocation camp.  The suspected name was put in the will.

He helped make a seaport to the east of Dagos bigger so that his ship could sail closer to where he decided to make his home.  In Dagos City.  He put Aixi in charge of captaining his ship, knowing he could trust the air magi to make sure everything ran smoothly.  Pegasus didn't want to have to captain a ship with so many memories right then, and he had things to investigate.  People to find.

Pegasus created a bar in Dagos City in the red light district.  He did this with a cyborg friend of his, Justin Simons.  Officially, Simons owns the bar.  Pegasus is only the bartender.  However, they cooperate this way so that Pegasus's name doesn't have to be on the deed.  They bring in musical acts, but sometimes it's just Pegasus singing and playing on the small wooden stage.  It works out well for both of them.  He knows how to play the piano, guitar, saxophone, flute and ukelele because he enjoys picking up instruments on his downtime.  Plus, knowing so many instruments is yet another thing for Pegasus to brag about.

Pegasus still remembers the way he was treated in the camps, even if a lot of the memories are hazy.  He is cautious around every single human he encounters.  He has a tendency to judge them much more harshly than he would a magi with the same opinions.  He judges cyborgs on a case by case basis.  And magi?  Magi are always welcome to talk to him.  

He worships the goddess Arithelia of course, as well as Tatara the god of death.  He knows Avani and Nereus and many of his friends have passed on and so he has respect for the god of death.  He believes that luck in business deals could be attributed to Kupiec.  However, he does not worship the god because in his experience all the toughest businessmen have been dangerous to be around.  It is common sense in his mind not to get involved with the god of such things.  

Water I: This allows you to manipulate fifty gallons worth of water (reference) that is already clearly in existence to the naked eye. You cannot change its temperature. Nor can you produce a projectile yet.

Water Walking: Self Explanatory. You can decide whether or not you sink.

Ambiguity: The ability to change into both male and female, as well as an in-between at will. However, males born with this ability still have a 15% chance of becoming pregnant and are forced into a female or split gender until term.
