»The Felici Cultural Festival was something of a big deal in the city; after all, it prided itself on being a center for the arts and higher learning. Hadiyya thought it was a bunch of crap; where was the magi culture? No, it was just a day where the people could pat themselves on the back and convince themselves they were open-minded, welcoming, and cultured people, instead of yuppie elitists and hypocrites.
Still, that didn’t mean she couldn’t enjoy her little slice of Suraja in the mix. As much as she was irritated by the Etheans in attendance, it was a good way to combat her bouts of homesickness. Music, dance, drinks, and food; it certainly felt like a nice party!
She was just in a short, black tank-top and jeans, today, forgoing her labcoat and letting her crowded canvas of tattoos air in the sunshine. She was all smiles, despite her cynical outlook; booze had a way of doing that to a woman. She went from vendor to vendor, stand to stand, looking at displays of art, sampling the food (finally, something GOOD to eat in this country), getting to know some of the Surajan hosts with small talk about home, and, of course, really sampling the drinks.
A lot.
It was only a matter of time before she found her way to the stage area, where musicians played songs from Suraja, sandy tunes that took Hadiyya back to her little shack in Anjum. Soon the music picked up in an energetic dance song that got people moving. It stirred the combination of booze and nostalgia in Diya.
Before she knew it, she was in front of the stage, where the dancing was intense and the music was loudest. Her body took over and soon she began to move in ways that one of her mothers had taught her: She was an expert bellydancer, a performer, and a role model to the younger Diya. She learned from her, loved it, but hid it almost all the time during her time in Ethea, unless the right combination of booze and tunes struck her.
Like right now.
She was having a blast, surrounded by energy, her senses filled and her body moving. She didn’t realize she had something of an audience herself, as people spread away to give her a bit of room and watched as her body moved like hanging silk in a breeze. Not many knew she could dance- only her closest friends, such as Kelri, Lilith, and Ami were privy to such secrets (As well as the strangers in various bars she sometimes danced in, as well).
The performers were happy to encourage people to dance in the grass up front, and of course, many did; Diya wasn’t alone, but she was the only one at the moment doing it as they did in Suraja.

oh lord won't you show me am i the sinner or the saint oh lord won't you please tell me was all my suffering in vain
Sophia held a love/hate relationship for festivals. She did enjoy festivals because their was much to drink, but the reason she hated it was because she had to deal with people. So what did she do before she got invited to go to the festival by a couple of people within the Hunter’s Guild? She chose to drink. A case of beer that her friend within the Guild bought her.
So here she was, standing in the midst of this festival where people came to drink and celebrate how welcoming and kind they are when it was all complete bullshit. She was in her lazy attire; fitted with a nice gray hoodie that clung to her body and a pair of black joggers that slightly sagged. Which of course, she didn’t mind… It also didn’t help she was barefoot.
The first thing her friend did when she arrived was hand Sophia a cup filled with alcohol. Taking it happily, the hunter chugged the drink before then taking her friends and chugging that as well. She had quite the high tolerance when it came to alcohol taste wise. Being able to control herself? Something she didn't have a tolerance of. Sophia's friend continued to run off, refilling her drinks and bringing them back for the blonde who quickly downed each drink until she had to eventually slow down to sip on them. Sophia and her Hunter Guild buddies chose to go from vendor to vendor, getting any drink they possibly could then sample the food.
The hunter rarely listened to music such as what was playing but it was quite a catchy tune, something she was growing use to. A couple of her girl friends were swaying themselves about with giggles and laughter, having gotten some more to drink for Sophia when she would ask for it. Further and further they went until they hit the front of the stage and the two were enjoying themselves dancing. That was, until people began to crowd one individual then moved to allow her space.
It didn’t take long for Sophia to notice but when she did, she couldn’t take her eyes off the girl. Pausing in her own dancing, she moved a bit closer to the front of people that were watching the female that seemed to be bellydancing and even much more, having abandoned her own group for this. Her eyes wouldn’t move from the girl so instead, as others slowly began to join in, Sophia simply moved on closer to the figure with a flirtatious smirk on her face. She watched as the woman's body moved with a sort of rhythm that she took acknowledge of quickly. It was enchanting to say the least.
Cheeks red, eyes that were relaxed and a flirtatious smile. The only things she needed to look remotely attractive to women was that sly smirk she often held with her hair pinned up. Moving around the female, she placed herself calmly a couple feet away from her just watching with her sly smirk. “Quite the moves, my lady.” Sophia slurred some.

»Diya was lost to booze and song and the way it felt to move like she used to in Suraja. Only when the stranger spoke did she actually notice that she’d been approached. Even in her haze, Diya could tell the woman was young, probably just a teenager or just turned 20, and clearly interested in the way she was dancing. She returned the girl’s smirk, laughing a bit at how her words were slurred (as if Diya was one to talk- she’d been hitting the drinks pretty hard today). This wasn’t going to go anywhere beyond the festival, but why not indulge the woman in a bit of play?
“Ha, nobody who knows me would call me a lady, ay?” She laughed, turning towards the shorter woman. Gods, why was EVERYONE she knew so damn short? “Too proper, too Ethean, yeah? You can’t be either if you want to dance like this!”
She amped up the gyrations of her abdomen, raising her tank top ‘til it was below her chest; proper dancing left the belly exposed, after all, and now that she had an audience, she should do it right. Her hip shakes and snaps were expertly done; her mothers would be proud, but sober Diya would just be embarrassed. Good thing sober Diya wasn’t around, too, because she would not have liked her next move, which was to pivot 180 and look over her shoulder at the woman, without missing a single beat.
“I’m Diya,” she said. “Surajan born and raised. Hope you’re enjoying the show as much as I am, yeah?” She laughed. Innocently, she could have been talking about the music performance, but not-so-innocently… well, the implication was obvious.
“So, are you just going to stand there, or try to dance? It’s a party, ay? Come on! I'll show you.”

oh lord won't you show me am i the sinner or the saint oh lord won't you please tell me was all my suffering in vain
Sophia was glad that the woman had returned the smirk, laughing some. The blonde didn’t know she was laughing at her though, but she had an idea even with such a clouded mind.
“I’m a proper lady, though. What would you rather me call you, love?” Sophia questioned with a smirk. She reeked of booze probably, but it didn’t help that she had started drinking so early in the morning and continued on until she got to the festival. Nico didn’t like drinking or the smell of alcohol, so as soon as Sophia had started, the dog bolted and hid from her for the rest of the day until she left. Good dog, really.
The short blonde could not help but stare. It was a wonder, something she couldn’t do obviously but the way her stomach and hips moved in a rhythmic motion. A smirk crossed her lips once more as her eyes filled with lust watching the woman. She loved watching individuals dance, it was a wonder and amazing how they were capable of moving their bodies in such a way to seduce and attract others around them and it was obvious she was getting much attention as an even larger crowd had formed, cheering the woman on. A blush formed across her face as the woman had done an easy 180 and looked over her shoulder at her. Nothing was missed, it was on point and absolutely perfect. How the hell…
“Sophia, Ethean born and raised.” Truth be told, Sophia had done her extensive research on the world around her and she knew only a slight bit about Suraja. Her brow raised slightly as she questioned if she was enjoying the show. Obviously she was, seeing that her show was the lady before her. Taking a step further she couldn’t help but nod and laugh a little. “Of course I am. It is quite the sight to see. A beauty if you’d say.”
She wasn’t really expecting the woman to ask if she was going to dance. Honestly, Sophia didn’t dance. She had no idea how. Well, her friend taught her how to slow dance but that was just about it. She had no idea how to do anything else so when the question rose her eyes widened and she couldn’t help but look around.
“I. I don’t really know how to dance I guess?” She said, moving closer so she’d be standing in front of the woman. She glanced around awkwardly, not sure on what to do. “So, how exactly do I do this? Just move a little? Move the shoulders? What?” She did a little shimmy of the shoulders in hopes she'd get a small giggle from the girl but she did also do it as if she were being serious. Sophia had no idea to dance but if it gave her a chance to talk and possibly hook up with someone tonight, she'd attempt it.

»Diya would be an awful alcoholic if she didn’t notice the slur of Sophia’s words and the mingling of alcohol-scented breath. This girl was toasted. And any girl who could hold her liquor and show a spine was someone Diya wanted to know a little better. Maybe not as a bedmate; she was getting tired of that game. But friendship and flirting was always welcome.
Judging by the way Sophia’s eyes stayed firmly locked to her dancing form, Diya was doing a damn good job with her flirtations.
She laughed at how Sophia mimicked her greeting. A wink was shot at the shorter girl in exchange for her compliment, just before Diya turned her head away a little; gotta keep ‘em wanting. “Ha, don’t I know it; I don’t think you’ve blinked this entire time, habibi.” She gave the girl a giggle to package the teasing statement. A moment later, she did another 180 and continued her dance with graceful nonchalance. “You’ll have to visit Suraja sometime; there’s always a place to watch great dancing. It’s basically a paradise for girls like us, ay?”
Oh, she didn’t know how to dance? And she was bold enough to approach her, surrounded by so many people? Hadiyya grinned- this was going to be fun.
Apparently Sophia thought so, too, given her frankly hilarious attempt to mimic her. The Surajan couldn’t help but laugh in good-natured fun at her; yeah, this girl was alright. Good to see people with some backbone and initiative- that was the type of person who could keep up with Diya’s ideas of fun.
So she earned herself a little reward.
She sashayed up close to Sophia, keeping her eyes locked on the woman’s with a playful intensity. “Mm, you have to loosen up, habibi! Here, feel how I move.” She took the girl’s hands and placed them on either side of her hips, keeping the same look on her face the entire time; it was a smirk that said ‘I know what this is doing to you, but I’m going to play it innocent.’ With the Ethean’s hands on her hips, she raised her own hands above her head, shimmying and shaking her hips with somewhat exaggerated moves, while the rest of her body flowed back and forth like gentlewaves.. “See what I mean? You have to feel the music and just flow with it, yeah? Feel how I’m moving?”

oh lord won't you show me am i the sinner or the saint oh lord won't you please tell me was all my suffering in vain
Sophia couldn’t help but giggle a little when she noticed the wink. It was nice to be winked at, getting that warm feeling within the chest was always a nice feeling that she often enjoyed when she met women. Honestly, she was the one typically doing the winking but tonight she was too intoxicated to be the usual casual flirt she was. Watching as the female turned away, Sophia felt herself wanting to see more of the female’s face. “Can’t help it, you know?” She commented, taking a moment to break her streak of staring at the woman.
Staring was her thing though. Returning her gaze, another blush crossed her cheeks as she did another 180 and continued to dance with grace. “Maybe I will. Maybe I’ll take you with me, too.” She chuckled. The girl enjoyed flirting but she was also tiring from all the women she was sleeping with. Honestly, she had lost count on how many she had slept with. They didn’t even bother to call her or anything after their nights of fun. It bothered her. She didn’t want to admit she was a clingy type, but when she found someone, she wanted to atleast have a conversation afterwards as if nothing happened or atleast to talk about it. It was nice to know her weaknesses or how she could better herself. She was a weird woman to say the least but the woman before her… There was a vibe to her that she enjoyed and she was not going to ruin tonight. Or ever if the two kept bumping into each other.
She felt a happy smile cross her lips as the woman laughed at her attempt of dancing. She got what she wanted, Sophia liked that. At this point, the hunter didn’t even mind if anyone was watching her have fun. The female was allowed to have her fair share of fun and if it meant to have fun with this woman for the night, she didn’t mind at all because she knew well that it would be great company. Well, her intoxicated mind knew it would be great company. Her intoxicated mind also knew she was going to have a horrible hangover tomorrow.
Suddenly, the woman approached her casually. They locked eyes and she could see a playful glimmer in her eyes. Feel how she moves?
As the woman took Sophia’s hands and placed them on either side of her hips, the hunter didn’t have any time to react. She had no way of reacting. Her mind wouldn’t let her as she just stared with a look of astonishment. She saw the smirk and knew exactly what it meant and it absolutely killed the female. The hot feeling of her face grew as her cheeks turned a deeper crimson color and her throat grew tight. She couldn’t speak, it was difficult to swallow. Was this how men felt trying to talk to an attractive woman?
Sophia could feel her body heating up as she watched and felt the woman’s movements. It was even better feeling them, she could feel each movement, the way she shimmied and shook her hips in a manner of movements. Her body was smooth, warm. Something she enjoyed greatly. “Y-Yeah. I mean. Yes. I do. Of course I do. It would be dumb if I couldn’t. I mean. Uh.” Yep. Here she went. The drunken Sophia couldn’t keep her mouth shut now.
“It’s very nice. I just don’t know if I can do that. I mean sure I can do a little bit of dancing. I feel the music, I just don’t know if my body will flow with it, you know? Uh. Yep. Wow. Uhm.” She could feel herself stuttering some, quickly breaking eye contact for a moment to look down, only to see her body moving. Yep. Good job, making matters worse. Looking back up, she just locked eyes with the woman once more and smiled, not one of nervousness but drunkenness. She couldn’t help it. But she could try.
The female slowly began to move her hips. At first it was small, slow movements, then she quickened her own pace. She did small shakes here and there, glancing to the female as she watched her, attempting to imitate what she was doing but only to fail. The only thing she could do really was shake her hips and move her shoulders a little. Was that dancing?

»Diya laughed; the woman didn’t lack for confidence, that was for sure. She liked it. “Mm, I think it would be you coming with me, habibi. I wouldn’t mind playing the role of tour guide for someone as cute as you.” A demure laugh accompanied her face moving just an inch closer, and her voice lowered until it was a whisper barely heard over the music and crowd. “I can take you places you won’t find in a travel brochure.”
Somehow, Diya managed to stifle her outright laughter at Sophia’s dumbstruck rambling. Looks like her plan to fluster the otherwise confident Ethean was a rousing success- and this was just phase one.
“Mmhmm, you’re feeling it, you’re feeling it,” she encouraged, looking down at Sophia’s awkward movements. A grin tugged at the corner of her mouth. Her attempts really were darling, and as long as she kept rising to the challenge, Diya would keep rewarding her.
It was time for a more hands-on lesson.
Keeping her dance flowing, she shimmied just out of Sophia’s grip until the other woman’s hands slipped off her hips. From there, she whirled around her dance partner until she was behind her. Gently, she put her hands on Sophia’s sides, and slide down slowly to her hips (unless there was any indication Sophia wasn’t a fan- Diya was drunk but she wasn’t some pervy guy). From there, Diya firmed her hold and pressed herself into Sophia’s back. Assuming the woman went with it, Diya tilted her head to the side so she could talk into Sophia’s ear with a low, smooth voice that worked well with her thick accent.
“Move like this,” she said, and pushed on Sophia’s hips to get her to swing and flow like Diya was earlier. Her own hips, nestled against Sophia, swung with the motions her hands dictated, obviously just to help Sophia get the idea, and with no ulterior motive in mind whatsoever. She certainly wasn’t looking to fluster the younger woman even more- that would just be cruel.
After a few swings, Diya would continue to guide Sophia’s hips with her own, and move her hands up the woman’s body to her shoulders, so she could guide her upper body movements as well. “Not that easy, ay?” She said with a little laugh. “Have to get your body to do a few different things. Remember to get your motions to work together, not fighting one another, yeah? Feel the music and let it flow, habibi.”

oh lord won't you show me am i the sinner or the saint oh lord won't you please tell me was all my suffering in vain
“Oh? Well then, I think I just got lucky.” Sophia commented with a chuckle. Yet, her chuckle was immediately killed and replaced with a blushing hunter. “That sounds like it would be fun.”
Sophia knew well that her movements were odd and awkward, but she was trying for the woman. She didn’t often do this. If she wasn’t able to seduce on the first try she would give up but something about this girl drew Sophia in. She had to try. She wanted to try. This was an odd feeling and perhaps it was just the alcohol doing this to her but it didn’t seem to affect her all that much.
Honestly, the hunter hadn’t even noticed that the woman had moved, her hands falling to her sides as she lifted them instinctively. It was when the woman planted herself behind Sophia and she could feel her hands on her sides. An immediate blush covered her cheeks and found herself frozen in place. It was an odd feeling to be touched and pressed against. Usually Sophia was the one doing this but for some odd reason, it still got her going and made her tense up just the slightest. Not because she wasn’t enjoying it. No, she was just not use to this.
The voice was smooth and the feeling of her pushing on her hips was enough to cause the woman’s entire face to become red. Looking down, she attempted to hide her face with her hair and found it not to be helpful as it was up. Immediately, she lifted her hands and pulled the hair tie from her hair and allowed it to fall. She was not going to let this woman see how badly she was becoming flustered but she did allow her hips to swing and flow like Diya was earlier. The feeling of the woman’s hips against her helped with the motion of her own hips and soon enough she was grabbing the hang of it. Yet she still felt flustered and felt the heat rising from her face.
Sophia’s hips continued to swing and flow in a motion that she liked. Diya’s own hips continued to help guide her but she was almost positive she had it. At this point, the blush that had formed was slowly dissipating and her mind had shifted to the feeling of her hips. “I think I got it though, really difficult if you ask me.” Sophia commented. The woman didn’t dance. Well, she did but it was more her friends forcing her to move the way they did when they chose to go out to clubs.
A smirk coated the woman’s lips as she tilted her head back slightly to look at the woman behind her. She was getting the hang of it and soon enough her shoulders were moving in a way that flowed with her hip movement. “The name is Sophia, how about you?” She questioned. Still a slur but Sophia was slowly getting herself out of her drunken state. She wanted to communicate, not be a flustered blabbering fool. The only way to do that was to force herself to become sober. Even that was difficult.

»For a moment, Diya paused, wondering if perhaps she’d overstepped her bounds on flirting with the smaller woman. It wasn’t an uncommon thing when alcohol was involved, but Diya was a woman who would never forgive herself for making another lady uncomfortable; she was better than your typical bar-hopping sleazebag, after all. She stopped her own dance, ready to make amends and apologies, only taking a breath when she felt the woman relax a little more into her.
“Ay, you okay, habibi?” She said gently. Not with a flirting tone or low, seductive whisper, but with a gentle urging that she was willing to stop herself if the woman wanted. Though it wasn’t long before the woman’s sway gave Diya her answer. Whew. With that worry on the backburner, she was free to enjoy her dancing once more.
She pulled back a little and looked down at Sophia’s hips with a grin. “Ay, not bad for a drunk Ethean,” she said with a laugh. “You’re getting the hang of it pretty quick! Maybe I’m just a good teacher, ha! It’s not easy, no, but you’re doin’ good, habibi! Keep it up, you’ll be turning heads in no time. Not that you don’t already, yeah?” She gave her a sly laugh.
Diya smirked back as she felt the smaller woman start working her shoulders into the motions and lean back to look at her. “Hadiyya,” she said. “Just call me Diya, ay?”
The Surajan was back to moving on her own, encouraging Sophia to either break off and dance at her own pace, or try to keep up with the expert (and she was certainly hoping for the latter). The song wasn’t going to go much longer, and there wasn’t any telling if there would be an encore or not. She had to get her dance on while there was some proper music for it! But that didn’t mean Sophia went ignored.
“You live in the city, Sophia?” Diya asked. “Shame I’ve never seen you at any of the bars; you’re pretty fun, you know that?”

“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be okay?” Sophia responded, pausing in her motions to tilt her head to look at Diya. She held a gentle tone. this was not flirting, low or any of that. it seemed as if she was concerned for Sophia but there was no reason. The woman went on, continuing to move and sway to give Diya the idea that she didn’t want it to stop. Hell no, she was enjoying herself too much.
As she continued on with a giggle, Diya spoke up how she was getting the hang of it even for being drunk. “You are damn straight! It’s called catching on!” Sophia responded with a heart-filled laugh. The woman was a good teacher. Well… When she thought about it, the fact she had to physically touch her and show her how to do so only helped it even more.
See, for Sophia, she was a hands on learner. “You are an amazing teacher,” Sophia said with a grin. The still slightly drunken Ethean looked up though when she mentioned she’d be turning heads in no time but that she hadn’t already. The woman was right too. She could see the looks, the stares. Her own friends she came with had spotted her and were staring with wide eyes and in awe over the fact she was openly dancing the way she was in front of hundreds of people. Yet she didn’t care.
“Diya?” She repeated the name, checking to see if she said it right and for a moment she squinted her eyes. “Ha… Diyya?” The drunkenly attempted to say her actual name in which she partially succeeded the first portion of it. She pronounced it ‘Die-ya’. Awkwardly enough she felt a blush cover her face. “Diya works better.”
Sophia chose to pull herself away from the woman. She knew they had been dancing together for a while and she wanted to face her now, see her face. Examine her looks. Any odd features. The way she would stare. Her eyes. Sophia wanted to see it all. Turning to face the woman, Sophia continued to move her body as she previously had done plus picking up some speed with a small smirk on her face.
“My home, you know? How about you?” She’d question with furrowed brows and with this time, the woman chose to take note of the color of her hair. Seafoam green. Something not many people could pull off but she could. It brought the features of her face to life, jumping at the woman almost. The shape of her face, the way her hair was cut. It just brought the woman to life.
Shit. What was she suppose to say now? ‘Oh yeah I’m underage that is why’. Was she about to fuck that up for herself?
That was not what she thought though. Drunken Sophia didn’t have that type of quick thinking so when the question rose, Sophia answered immediately. “I’m nineteen, that is probably why.” She chuckled.
Drunken Sophia wouldn’t know better. Now, if it were sober Sophia she would have lied and said something stupid like ‘oh my dog doesn’t like me leaving at night’ or ‘oh I take care of a child’ would have been more reasonable… Yeah well that was not said.
