It was quite this fine night and it seemed like no other Hunter was about. Enki River stood hesitantly before the doors of the chapel. He was a man of faith but he was also fearful of his Goddess. He had been cursed by her and thus now he was often afraid to step foot into her house. Entering meant he was admitting his sins and still atoning for them as well as possibly having her decent upon him a second time. That alone frightened him enough to make him rethink his plan.
A moment later, he slowly pushed the large iron doors open and entered the chapel one step at a time. His hands casually rested upon his weapons. It was more for a sense of security then it was protection. No mortal weapon such as his could take down an angry deity. Though it still offered him some kind of safety. His feet carried him towards the masculine statue that rest in the center of the room. To his left and right where a few rows of pews that remained empty. A single light shown down upon the statue with a larger alter before it.
A mixture of recently lite incense remained and filled the air with a herbal scent. Random items scattered across its foundations which even included the skin of dead animals or objects that belonging to recent kills. River had nothing to really offer to his deity other then a single tooth he rested upon the alter.
He took three steps back and put his hands together, got on one knee, and bowing his head. He offered a small prayer to the deity. He had hoped she would forgive him soon and remove his curse. He had done her bidding for many years without even the slightest hint of being forgiven. Surely, she could not hold this grudge against him for so long? A long sigh escaped his lips as he concluded that maybe his sin was far to great but he would still try to appease the Goddess. Maybe one day, he would find her favor and be returned to normal.
Slowly, he cracked his eyes open at the sounds of something in the Chapel. Had she descended? Doubtful. He safely assumed it was merely another Hunter come to give an offering. But the distant growl of Aries, who had remained outside, made him rethink that idea.
