He was struggling? How cute.
And ultimately futile.
At the hermit's mental command the vines grew even tighter around the semi-struggling individual. Truthfully there really wasn't that much they could do in their current state. The thick vines the redhead had grown were completely snaking around the young hunter, immobilizing all his limbs but for the barest little twitches here and there that he could get in. The skin that made contact with the vines blistered and festered from its venomous nature, making the still barely living human whimper in pain. Maybe she could have felt a little bad at the sound. However the redhead that stood before him only glared up at the trapped hunter, another, much less twitchy one lying a little ways away.
"Come into Arecia to kill even more of my people, will you?" As though the genocide wasn't enough. As though her parents weren't enough. The hermit was sick of these damn hunters continuously popping up in her life. They'd already done so much damage. What more did they want from her!? She was done with them taking things. "Not. In. My. Woods." Emphasizing every word with a stern grow, green eyes watched as the vines coiled up even higher. They wrapped around the poor hunter's head and...
Let's just say a watermelon could achieve the same result.
As the vines lowered the unmoving body to the ground Lelianna sighed. It was troubling to find more hunters wandering out in the woods. Clearly they still enjoyed hunting magi. And were getting pretty bold about it too; she'd been finding a few of them this year. More than she would have liked for certain. Rubbing her face a little, she looked down at the two bodies she was now left with. After a moment of debate, she eventually let out another sigh and looked around for spot to bury the bodies in. No point in letting them sit there, after all. Focusing, the magi began to move earth and create a pit to place one of the bodies in.
Just as she was starting to bury one, she heard something behind her. The redhead whipped around, the plants about her reacting to her high alert, as she assessed whether a new threat had appeared or not.

The Arecia Woods were not always kind to those who wandered their depths. Luca knew this well, but he also knew that certain herbs he needed for his remedies could only be found by exploring them. Most days, it was worth the risk, and more than that, he made sure to avoid the dangers as well as he possibly could. More often than not, given his many years of practice at running from all things dangerous, he did fairly well. Unfortunately, all luck had to run out sooner or later, and for Luca today seemed to be one of those days. He heard the voices first, filtering through the trees from a clearing he was passing by on the way back to the relative safety of Haven. In hindsight, approaching was the worst idea he’d had in quite some time, but approach he did, until he caught sight of three figures. One looked to be a magi, and was holding a man tightly in a bunch of vines she seemed to be controlling. And the third… The third was on the ground, not moving. Thankfully, the woman didn’t seem to have noticed him yet, as he had come up from behind her, and was now huddling behind the cover of a thick tree trunk. Before he could make a quiet escape, however, there was a horrible, wet crunching sound, and a large bloom of red spread across the nearby foliage. It took nearly all of Luca’s willpower not to vomit at the sight, and he quickly turned away, pressing a hand tightly over his mouth and his back to the tree currently hiding him. Gods above, who had he just stumbled upon…? Several shaky moments passed before he could gather himself enough to decide it really didn’t matter, and that he should leave the area as quickly as he possibly could. However, this was easier said than done. Not ten steps away from the horrible scene, Luca lost his footing on a slick patch of leaves, and fell noisily to the ground. Scrambling to his feet, he tried to keep moving before the earth magi at his back could catch him. Lelianna Varna (Feel free to grab him or something. ^^ ) |

► As green eyes leveled on the intruding figure...it was another magi. Who'd basically just fallen flat on his face. Lelianna simultaneously blinked and relaxed. At least it wasn't another hunter. However this magi was rapidly scrambling away, and he looked an unhealthy shade of green. What was...
Oh yeah. The bodies.
"Oh. Oh! Oh no no, wait! I'm not going to hurt you!" The hermit cried out, only now realizing what the man had walked in on. Oh yeah, meeting someone right after you'd just killed someone was surely a great way to make friends. Wonderful first impression, Lelianna. Truly the best you'd had so far. Lelianna ended up giving chase a little, the vegetation of Arecia responding to her wish and reaching out to grab at this other magi. Unlike the hunters who'd tried attacking her, these plants were gentle (albeit firm) in grasping the poor man who'd walked in on probably the worst time.
"Wait! Please! Oh jeez I-I'm really sorry you had to see that." Had he seen her...That would definitely explain his reaction. What she'd done wasn't exactly ah...pleasant to see. Even for her she didn't particularly like seeing that. By the time Lelianna caught up to the made she then realized what she was doing. "Ah! S-Sorry! I-I didn't mean to...Um wait a second." Stammering and now blushing slightly, the redhead willed the greenery to unwrap from Luca. That definitely was not going to help calm this guy down!
"S-Sorry. I ah...yeah...I swear I-I'm not going to hurt you. Those were hunters. B-But ah, yeah I...Sorry." She finished lamely. Wow wasn't she so good at this talking thing?

Although he heard the woman’s cries filtering through the trees behind him, Luca didn’t stop for a moment to actually register what was being said. He needed to get away, and he needed to do it now, before… before… well, he really didn’t want to find out what. Watching the Hunter’s grisly end was enough to motivate him to keep moving no matter what. Only, he found that plan being put to an abrupt stop when something wrapped around one of his ankles, and sent him falling face-first into the ground. Letting out a half startled, half panicked yelp, Luca scrabbled in the dirt as he was dragged back, and then up by the vegetation entangling his arms and legs. Oh gods, this was it, wasn’t it? He was going to die here, with his head popped and his body left as food for scavengers or fertilizer for plants, and— “Oh jeez, I-I’m really sorry you had to see that.” Wait… what? Just for a moment, Luca ceased his desperate struggles to somehow break free of the foliage holding him in place and listened. The red-haired woman— the terrifying earth magi… She was apologizing…? What? Oddly enough, he quickly found that the stranger was also surprisingly awkward for someone who had just brutally murdered two people, even if those people were Hunters. Though his heart still hammered in his chest, Luca suddenly found himself more confused than frightened— enough so that he didn’t particularly notice the vegetation around him receding until it dumped him unceremoniously back to the ground. Just in case, he quickly scooted away once he was free, but for the time being didn’t get up to try fleeing again. “I… u-ummm…” he stammered quietly, not entirely sure how to respond. The usual “it’s alright” didn’t seem quite applicable here, and beyond that he really had no idea how else to answer. Lelianna Varna |

► Oh good grief, she'd really scared him hadn't she? Now he was looking at her like she'd grown two heads and the blush forming on her face flared horrifically in response. Then of course the vines had to literally dump him onto the ground like a sack of potatoes. "Ah! Sorry!" She said for the umpteenth time, shooting a glare at the greenery that had once held the zero magi. "Guys, be a little more gentle!" Chided, the vegetation almost seemed to...shrug? in apology. If something without shoulders could shrug. Or something not perceivable human in any way. But we digress.
As Luca scrambled back to his feet, Lelianna didn't take offense at the little extra distance he put between the two of them. If anything it only made her wince guiltily and look a little more sheepish. He really had picked the absolute worst time to stumble upon her. At least he wasn't all-out sprinting in the other direction. That was good! Right? Right...
"Ummm..." Great, looked like neither of them really knew what to say. Come on Lelianna, say something! A man just found you turning another man's head into paste. You've got to recover! "Y-you aren't, ah, injured are you?" Asked the hermit finally, shifting nervously on her feet. Put her up against hunters and she was fine. Make her talk to someone else? She was doomed in every way. "I-I didn't mean to drop you like that. It was an accident, honestly." Still didn't make it right. Quick, change the subject. "Ah...A-Are you from Haven? You didn't run into anyone else when you...When you came this way did you?" If there were more hunters about, they both could be in danger. Especially now.

He should be running, he thought. He should be running as fast as his feet could possibly carry him, before this stranger changed her mind about using those vines of hers to rip his limbs off, or show him the same treatment as that Hunter… But he was frozen in place, and in that moment couldn’t have moved to save his life. Fortunately for him, the earth magi didn’t appear to want him dead, and even went so far as to ask if he was alright— although it still took Luca a while to process even that much. “Wh-what?” Injured…? “Ah…” He cast a quick glance down, as if checking to ensure all his limbs were still in place, and back up. “N-n-no…? I don’t… I don’t think so…” How odd, that she seemed to genuinely care… and that she was almost more awkward than he was. It was enough to keep him from fleeing when he found he could get himself to move a little, shuffling uncertainly in place. “It’s fine? I, um…” Slowly, Luca found his heart rate decreasing, but it would probably still be a good while before he was able to relax entirely, even after he moved on from the area. “Sort of… I travel between Haven and Dagos a lot…” It was safe to tell her that, right? Maybe? “N-no, I hadn’t come across anyone before…” Before watching this woman crush a man’s head. Was there a nice way to say that? “… I… saw you, um…” No, it was probably best to just leave it at that so, nervously wringing the hem of his shirt, Luca left his reply at that. Lelianna Varna |

► Wow she had really shaken this guy up huh? The amount he was stammering was even more than what the hippie could achieve. Well, okay it was more like equal to what she typically stammered when super nervous. And she couldn’t exactly excuse the fact that he had caught her at a bad time. Still hearing him stammer so badly made her want to calm him down.
It was quite the rarity when she wasn’t the one stammering away at conversation like a child wielding a cumbersome stick.
luckily he seemed ok! Lelianna didn’t spot any injuries on him and he didn’t report any. He simply looked terribly shaken after walking in on the earth magi…cleaning up the woods. or making them dirtier, technically. Buuuuut let’s not linger on that. because clearly that was the point of disturbance for this other individual. It should with how he trailed off on the topic nervously.
it pained Lelianna’s heart to see she’d scared him so much. To the point he was acting as though she’d give him the same treatment! Plus she was a tad embarrassed to be caught doing that. No matter what form she took, she hated worrying others. “I…yeah…um…Look I really am sorry you had to see that.” She apologized again, averting her eyes both shyly and sheepishly. “That’s not…usual. But they’d come in and started destroying things and killing animals and I…I stepped in. I didn’t want them finding Haven or any of the other magi that wander through here. Still I…I’m sorry you got to, ah, watch that. I’m at least glad they didn’t find you first and hurt you.” She had no idea of this magi’s combat capabilities, but based off the way he was acting the earth magi wasn’t sure how he would have handled himself if he’d gotten caught. Things might have ended differently; who knew?

Even under the influence of his own terror, Luca could tell that it was a sincere one. Although he was still well away from calming down entirely, the realization was still… something. What, he couldn’t say, but it seemed like it might be a good thing. The zero magi nodded meekly along to the redhead’s explanation, eyes darting away every now and then. To an extent, he could sort of understand why she had acted the way she had. Almost. The particular method of dealing with those men, those Hunters, though… that he still couldn’t bring himself around to, and if he managed to sleep tonight without visions of the incident playing through his head, it may very well be a miracle. But that was an issue for later. “I, it’s… um…” Nope, it still wasn’t fine, but at the moment his brain wasn’t producing any better responses. Even so, he could at least agree that he was rather fortunate not to have encountered the Hunters first, all by himself. That never ended well. “Uh… M-me too…” Nibbling his lip, Luca tried to think of something more to say, but as he so often did, failed miserably… Until he remembered a question the earth magi had asked him earlier. “You… you’re not hurt either, are you? I could… I could try to fix it, if, um, if you are… I… I’m a healer, so… w-well, you know.” She hadn’t looked like she was in too bad of a shape, but he had been a little busy running for his life to really notice earlier. ► They were both a really talkative, well-spoken bunch weren't they? Lelianna might have giggled a little at the oddity of running into someone else who was just as prone to tripping over words. That is, she would have if she weren't aware of the reasoning behind this man's hesitation. yeah giggling right now would probably not be a good idea. She held it back and instead focused on this random individual.
"Me?" The earth magi had to repeat. Oh right, she had been the one fighting those men. Lelianna took a moment to look herself over. Which...did make her cringe a little. There was blood on her but not hers. No wonder this guy was scared. She looked like a butcher just coming out of the shop. Which was, in a macabre way, slightly accurate? However after checking herself for any wounds she miraculously didn't find any. She'd been fairly lucky this time around not to get injured. or at least injured heavily enough to report it to this man.
"I...Don't think I've got any wounds. Or at least none that are major issues." The druid reported after her assessment was finished. then she looked back up at Luca and gave him a small, appreciative smile. "Thank you for asking though. I know I'm...Kind of scary right now." She admitted honestly. That or she was at the very least intimidating. "Were you heading back to Haven? Or Dagos? I could at least escort you there, or to the edge of the woods. I don't know if there are any other Hunters in the woods right now. I wouldn't want you getting hurt." It came out sincerely and there was a bit of concern in her eyes.

Luca was mostly sure of that, and nodded shortly once the earth magi had answered him. “You, ah… you’re welcome…” he replied, trying a smile that turned out to be more of a grimace than anything. Though he was far from the squeamish sort, given his line of work, that was still a lot of blood she was covered in. And even though the woman had proved relatively friendly thus far, he wasn’t quite certain that he should agree that she did indeed look rather frightening just then, and so kept his mouth shut on the matter. After some hesitation, he answered her next questions with a small nod and, “I w-was headed back to Haven, yes… I— ” The younger magi paused there, biting his lip while he considered her offer. It certainly would be safer to travel with a strong companion, but… well. “I… I appreciate the offer—“ he began, only to stop before he reached the “but” he’d originally intended to tack onto that statement. A late-night conversation with a friend of his had come to mind, as had the thought that perhaps he ought to take what he’d said then into consideration now. Drawing in a slow breath, Luca finished the reply he’d begun. “And… if you’re sure it wouldn’t be an issue, then… I wouldn’t mind having you along.” Once he had heard the earth magi’s response, he would start walking again. It would be alright, he was certain. Sort of.
