See this is why I shouldn't be allowed a moment to think cause oh look more weird ideas.
Step Into My Parlor
Details:
A request for help has come in from Islein on the account of the disappearance of not just a group of middle-aged adults, but also the group of investigators assigned to find them. Not only that, but the group of even better equipped investigators sent after them have also disappeared. At this point the Islein population is concerned that whatever is causing these people to vanish might set its sight on the town next. So far all they know about the incidents is:
1) The original missing group had last been reported heading for the Ruins of Kendov before all communication (cellular or otherwise) was lost. When the search parties were sent after them, they too disappeared once they reached the Ruins and all forms of communication were lost.
2) Not one person has returned from the Ruins. Locals closer to the area reported seeing them headed that way but never returning. They also reported that other individuals who headed out that way have never returned either, and most recently there have been more reports of people vanishing in an expanding radius from the Ruins.
3) Wildlife in said radius have also been disappearing at a more rapid rate.
4) It is assumed, considering the most recent search party sent to investigate with heavier weaponry has also not returned, that whatever is lurking within the Ruins must be very powerful.
After weeks have passed with no new coming from any of the missing individuals that have gone to the Ruins, the Islein government has finally issued out a cry for help. They aren't entirely certain what lies within the ruin, be it humans, magi, or otherwise, but it's taking people and not returning them.
In truth the Ruins have been taken over by a rather powerful Spirit, who has transformed the Ruins into its lair. The Spirit in question is a sickly combination of humanoid and spider in appearance ( [reference] ) that has claimed the Ruins as its nest. Thick cobwebs line the walls and wrap around nearly every inch, creating an enormous web. Not only that, but the Spirit has cultivated and created it's own miniature army of abnormally large spiders that also live within the Ruins and obey the Spirit's every command. The reason for people disappearing is quite simple: the Spirit has been capturing anyone foolish enough to approach the ruins and using them as food both for the Spirit itself and the lesser spirits/spiders that infest the ruins with it. As their numbers have been increasing, the spiders have been growing more bold and have extended outwards to hunt both animal and man alike.
The risk with this mission comes mainly from the number of "spirits" or enemies players would face. Not only is there the spirit to contend with, but also the army of large arachnids protecting the nest. They will also be forced right into the spider's web, and thus entering its domain where it's strongest. An additional complication could also come from saving any possible survivors located within the nest, whom the Spirit may kill as the character(s) get closer to the heart.
