History won't A run really was in order for the redhead of late.
The redhead was a tall blur in the early waking hours of the day. She had a lot of steam to let off so she figured going for a longer run than usual was in order. Which met she had to wake up even earlier to go on her morning jog. Leaving a note behind for her father just in case she arrived later than she planned to, the redhead had set off. Without her little canine companion this time; it was too early to possibly bother Mogi with this run. So all on her own the redhead all but fled her house.
She really needed to think.
So Bjarga had appeared again. Nearly dead from the looks of it. Now the girl was staying over at their house for a night at Alex's insistence and her father's reluctance. Already the magi had been so very...strange that she'd left the redhead in a bit of a confused state after their first visit. Now? The magi had appeared again and Alex felt like she was through right back into that swirling state of thought. She'd been kind to the magi, certainly, but for her to actually seek Alex out in a city that would rather see her kind dead...
Eventually the redhead halted by the boardwalk to take a drink and stretch. She'd been out there for a while now, running throughout Felici. The sun was starting to rise up and she got to watch the light of day play out over the beach. It was a really pretty sight; all red and orange. Although that meant it would likely rain later in the day the scene was nonetheless beautiful. Since it was hot out Alex had long since gone down to the minimum attire needed for decency. Running was sweaty work, so she used her shirt as a sort of improvised towel while she stretched on the wooden path. The run had certainly helped clear her mind somewhat. It was still jumbled together but not nearly as knotted and complicated as it had been when she started. At least she could sigh with a little bit of ease rather than exasperation. Now all she'd have to do was make sure she got back home before Bjarga woke up or, heavens forbid, something happened.
A thought that certainly didn't make Alex a little worried all over again.

I'm just out to find the better part of me Dehlia was out doing her parkour, running from building to building, post to post. Dock to dock. The fishermen were used to her antics by now. What she did seem to have trouble with was watching where she was going. She was doing her regular exercise run in a sleeveless green crop top and black leggings when she jumped down from her perch on a building. She hadn't looked both ways though, and ended up crashing accidentally into someone.
Opening her eyes slowly, she groaned. And that's when her cheeks turned as bright as her vibrant red hair. She was accidentally feeling up someone's boob. She took her hand off immediately and scrabbled back on the concrete, mumbling her apologies over and over. Crap crap crap crap she hadn't meant to do that what was with her and bad first impressions? When she took in the full figure of the person she'd bumped into, she blushed brighter if that was possible. The woman was a redhead like herself, and was clothed in a workout bra...she'd gotten more action with this stranger than she likely had in her life!
"I am so so so so so sorry please forgive me I wasn't watching where I was going and I know I should but I thought I was safe and I didn't think anybody besides the fishermen or I frequented this area." That was still no excuse for accidentally groping a woman though. At least she hadn't squeezed or anything, right? Just an accidental hand placement. Gods, Dehlia was already in freakout mode. This person could give her the worst of times and she would be perfectly justified in doing so. | NOTES: Alright you asked for it... WORDS: 286 |

History won't It was in the middle of one of her stretches when Alex swore she saw something out of the corner of her eye. Was that a bird dive-bombing-- Quite suddenly the redhead felt a good deal of weight ram into her from above. That was not a bird! Whatever it was, the weight and momentum of it managed to knock her off her feet. Her reflexes kicked in and she just barely managed to get her elbows out to prevent her head from smacking into the wooden planks hard. Her arms instead took the damage, which elicited a hiss of minor pain from the girl, but it was far better than risk getting a concussion.
Her own eyes had shut simply due to the sharp pain that her elbows endured. A groan came from far, far too close. Yeah this definitely was not a bird. No as Alex's eyes opened she saw it was in fact a girl. A fellow redhead actually. Alex managed to blink once before she registered something warm on her chest. While violet eyes were just opening, green ones flicked downward. To the hand...on Alex's boob.
Oh my.
Dehlia wasn't the only one to turn scarlet. Alex felt a good amount of blood rush to her cheeks and set them aflame as the other woman scrambled backwards from her. Goodness this was a very...strange encounter. First Bjarga and now whoever this woman was. Whom Alex couldn't help but stare at, struck speechless by the impact as her brain was trying to keep up with what was happening.
The long string of hasty apologies was what finally got the gears in Alex's head moving again. Blinking rapidly a few times, she shook her head to clear it and sat up a little. "Oh it's...i-it's alright I'm sure you ah...didn't mean it." Only a little unsteady the victim of Dehlia's accidental aerial tackle got to her feet and dusted her hands and butt off. Then she took a few steps forward before offering Dehlia a hand up. "I'll admit; I've been dive-bombed by birds before but never...never another person." It rolled into a little bit of a laugh, trying for a joke to break the tension. The slight embarrassment Alex felt showed through the small and almost shy, sheepish smile she had on her face. That and the fact she could only meet Dehlia's eyes for a second before they skittered away. "It was...an experience I never thought I'd have."
Well if she wasn't awake before she definitely was now.

I'm just out to find the better part of me The only thing that slightly made Dehlia feel better was that the woman was almost as red as herself. And she was no longer talking about the hair, although it was striking also. Dehlia put a hand to her forehead and groaned. Then she heard the woman say she was sure she didn't mean it and Dehlia's voice made itself known without exactly thinking about what she wanted to say first.
"Hell no I didn't mea to do that." Hm. And then her mouth took off without her.
"Not that you're not attractive, but it's not like I go parkouring with the idea of literally running into random women and feeling them up." Then Dehlia realized what she said and she groaned again, closing her eyes in mental pain.
"Dehlia shut the fuck up you're bloody well making it worse." Yes she swore, everyone could deal with it. Dehlia was known to swear occasionally when she wasn't thinking too hard about what she was saying. Then she heard the woman joke about never being dive bombed by a person before and Dehlia sighed, standing up and brushing off her tights. She cleared her throat.
"I suppose there's a first time for everything. I'm really very sorry." She rubbed the back of her neck with a somewhat sheepish smile on her face. How could she smooth this over? Was there any possibility of doing so?
"I honestly didn't see you. I suppose I should look where I'm going, but I didn't expect anyone to be here on the port other than the fishermen. I..." She punctuated her statement with a heavy sigh.
"I don't suppose a coffee or two would be a step towards smoothing this over, would it?" The sheepish smile stayed on her face as she still rubbed her neck awkwardly. Yes, she felt extremely awkward. | NOTES WORDS: 307 |

History won't Oh. Well. That was...Those were words. Alex blinked once, not sure if she was being complimented or simply...receiving a comment. Alex certainly hoped the woman didn't go around tackling others to the ground and feeling them up. Though judging by the way Dehlia groaned and closed her eyes after saying that, Alex had a feeling the comment had been some form of word vomit. Which was understandable, honestly, in a weird situation like this. Tensions were still kind of high between them though Alex had tried to diffuse it a little.
Although the way the other girl berated herself was kind of entertaining. Enough so that Alex could crack a bit of a smile that wasn't entirely forced. Alex dropped her hand as the woman ignored it and stood on her own. She was apologizing and looking awfully sheepish for what had happened. Dehlia honestly hadn't seen Alex (which was kind of remarkable with how much her red hair nearly served as a beacon). In the end Alex was given an offer to go and get some coffee. "Oh! Well..." She lifted her wrist and stared at her watch. She really wasn't sure if she should do this but...maybe it would make the other girl feel a little better.
That and it was hard to pass up getting something in her stomach after the long run she'd gone on.
"...Actually that sounds great." Alex finished as she let her had drop to her side again. A smile was sent Dehlia's way, a little more natural than before. "I could definitely go for that. Oh! My name is Alex, by the way." Once again she offered her hand towards Dehlia. Whether she took it this time was up to her.

I'm just out to find the better part of me Dehlia had caught that ghost of a smile on the other woman's face. It had helped her stop berating herself so completely. When she offered the coffee, Dehlia honestly wasn't sure whether the offer would be accepted or not. The other redhead would have been well within her rights to refuse. Dehlia wouldn't have blamed her considering what had just transpired. She had heard the hesitation, but then she heard the offer accepted and Dehlia couldn't help but have her eyes widen a bit. A positive reaction. And then an introduction and a genuine smile. Dehlia couldn't help but smile back, shaking the hand that was offered.
"Name's Dehlia. Just Dee's fine though. And...I really am sorry. But I...know a good coffee shop nearby?" It didn't come anywhere near making up for what had happened, but she was trying to smooth things over and was thankful that Alex was giving her the opportunity. She squeezed the firm handshake before letting go and walking, heading towards the shop. It had good sweets too, which would hopefully help. Unless this chick didn't eat sweets, which was entirely possible. But Dehlia was not assuming that because sweets woulkd have been very helpful in this situation.
When she reached the shop, she smiled. It was a small shop, sort of mom and pop. They were at the port, and it did lessen their customer base, but their food was so good Dehlia loved to stop by and support the business. The owners waved at her and Dehlia's face widened into a grin.
"Hey, I brought a prospective customer!" Then she turned to her companion.
"Their danishes are to die for too, if you like that sort of thing. Least I can do is pay for some sort of sweet to go with the coffee. If you want one that is. Up to you." The owners smiled at Dee and she shrugged.
"I'll have my regular iced cappucino and one of the lemon danishes thanks." Ooh looks like they were freshly baked. In fact, the whole shop seemed to smell of freshly made pastries. It was a special sort of heaven. There was a reason why Dehlia frequented the place after all. Fooooood. | NOTES: Dee's ruled by her stomach. Apparently. WORDS: 370 |

History won't There, that was better wasn't it? The girl returned the firm handshake and Alex finally got to learn her name. Dehlia. She seemed nice enough, all things considered. She even apologized again, which this time Alex could successfully smile off and dismiss. "It's fine, really. Mistakes happen. And I would love to see this coffee shop!" it would be a nice little change to simply order some food rather than make it. And honestly she was pretty dang hungry so there was no way she was saying no. Though when she got back home she could simply make breakfast for Daniel and Bjarga.
Hopefully she'd still be there, and unharmed.
Alex followed alongside Dehlia, comfortable in the silence until they got to the shop. It did wonders to calm her down from earlier and now the adrenaline was well and truly out of her system. When they did reach the shop her eyes lit up. It was absolutely adorable! That and the owners seemed to know Dehlia as she so easily addressed them. Which certainly drew another smile onto the girl's face. "I take it you come here pretty often?" She stated more than asked really. If that was the case, she'd trust whatever the other girl said. Besides, a Danish sounded awfully good right about then. Her stomach wholeheartedly agreed.
"Well, you're the expert here. I'll trust your knowledge. And thank you very much for paying." Normally the redhead would insist on paying for herself, but after what had happened she figured she could let the other girl due this to alleviate any guilt she might still be holding. Alex turned towards the cashier. "I'll have a regular cappuccino please, and a lemon danish too." Might as well give it a shot! Especially if the other girl spoke so highly of it. "I hope you're right about them." Alex teased slightly, glancing over at Dehlia before looking for a place they could sit. Consdering the early our, it was relatively easy to do so.

I'm just out to find the better part of me Dehlia was quite clearly relieved when the offer to go to the coffee shop was accepted, but when the other woman had followed her and Alex's eyes had lit up, Dehlia felt even better. The shop was one of the places she liked to hang out the most. She'd had enough conversations to know that they were neutral in their views on racism. In their opinion, as long as someone bought someone and were polite, that was what mattered. Little did they know that what mattered to Dehlia was that a business be willing to look past external traits. That and they had awesome food. She heard Alex ask if she came here often and Dee nodded rather vigorously.
"I parkour down here at the port a fair bit, and I always get this ravenous appetite afterwards. I swear, sometimes I could eat a horse. And then sometimes I like to buy a couple of sweets to put in my lunch later in the week." She grinned.
"Nothing against Runic College cafeteria food, but these danishes are loads better!" Dehlia chuckled. She paid for her own food, and Alex's and then went with the food to sit down in one of the pastel upholstered booths. This one was a dark rose pink.
"And paying is the least I can do. I should've been looking where I was going. You'd think I would when I was moving from roof to roof to fence or whatever, but I get distracted way too easily." She rubbed the back of her neck somewhat sheepishly. She'd taken in the teasing tone and she raised an eyebrow.
"I like to think I have excellent taste. That includes ACTUAL taste you know." She said in a mock snooty voice to carry on the joke that was alleviating the tension, and took a sip of her iced cappucino. There was an art to not getting a brain freeze from it, there really was. | NOTES WORDS: 326 |

History won't It was kind of strange hearing someone say they "parkoured" down somewhere. Alex knew what it was and knew people did it, but it was another thing to hear and see it. However if it was as much of an exercise as Alex's running, then she could definitely understand the statement about appetite. "I can definitely understand the appetite." Alex answered with a laugh. "I'm usually the same way after exercising." And with the amazon woman, she exercised a lot. Maybe her desire to be a cook came from her constant need for some food.
At the words "Runic College," Alex immediately perked up. Wait, was this another student at the university? She waited until they had taken their seats before saying anything. "Wait, do you go to the Runic University too?" Considering it was a relatively big university, it shouldn't surprise Alex too much to met another student like this. Although this had been a particularly unique way to meet someone period. "I only just recently started going there. The food doesn't seem so bad." She certainly hoped not since she was going there to learn how to cook in the first place!
At the snooty voice, Alex couldn't help but laugh. It was much better to see this humor from the other girl than the sheepish embarrassment. Which was why with a smirk and a similarly arched brow, the amazon adopted a playfully aloof look on her face. "We shall see." Quickly before she dissolved into giggles, the redhead took a bite out of her danish. Almost immediately after the taste registered green eyes went wide before fluttering shut with an appreciative hum. Their little teasing joke was completely forgotten by the time Alex swallowed.
"Wow! That really is good! I'll have to see if I can find out how they made it." She was definitely glad the other girl suggested it! As was her stomach, which happily accepted the food as Alex dug in. Like father like daughter, she supposed.

I'm just out to find the better part of me Dehlia heard Alex say she could understand the appetite and she grinned. Yeah, she supposed that was probably a common thread with anyone who exercised a fair bit. She also noticed the interest when she mentioned the Runic University. Oh, apparently Alex was also a student!
"Yeah I go to the Runic University. You too huh? Nice!" Oh so Alex only started recently. Dehlia hit her forehead slightly with her palm. So much for being the cool upperclassman.
"Oh no I didn't mean the food was bad. But the sweets here are so good. And new, huh? I've been going there since I was eighteen so..." She was twenty four, and she was counting on her fingers to figure it out because she was bad at keeping track of time.
"Five years then. Although I have a sidejob so I'll only be getting my bachelor's this year I think." She really should get some sort of planner. But would she actually use a planner? Hell if Dehlia knew. Then she heard the exclamation and saw the expression on Alex's face on taking a bite and Dehlia grinned. Oh so she wanted to replicate the effect. Interesting, so the girl was a cook.
"Well you can ask. I don't know if they'll tell their secrets though. It IS how they get a good part of their business after all." But back to her companion being at the Runic University, because that was very interesting. She took a bite of her own danish, savouring it as she relaxed back in the booth, putting an arm on the back of the bench.
"What are you taking if you don't mind me asking? I'm taking Runic of course, but then also going for my bachelor in law." | NOTES: The truth about Dehlia's confusion is just that I have no clue. Halp. WORDS: 290 |

History won't Ok Alex had to laugh a little at the facepalm Dehlia did. Least she’d lightened up and now officially the tension between them was essentially all gone. Yes Dehlia was a student at the University. An old one, from the sounds of it. “Five years? Well, glad I got to meet someone who’d know the campus better than me.” Hey it was a pretty big one. Beautiful too, if she was being honest. It really was nice architecture.
“True…” The redhead sighed a little but continued eating. it was amazing and she sincerely wished she could somehow get the recipe. “If worse comes to worst then I’ll just have to come back here and keep getting these until I discover the secret. Maybe take a few home with me, while I’m at it.” She certainly wouldn’t mind and she doubted Daniel would have much of a problem with it too. And if he didn’t like the sweets, well that just meant more for Alex after all right?
“Oh I’m going into the culinary arts actually.” Alex admitted, taking a sip from her drink. It was still piping hot but Alex loved that. “I just…I really always loved cooking so I thought I might as well go into it for a job. Maybe it’s not the flashiest thing, but I find it fun.” She was just glad Daniel seemed fine with it despite that not being the highest paying job you could get. “What about you? What made you interested in law?" Alex hadn't even considered that before.

I'm just out to find the better part of me "Yeah. I kinda love the Runic University. So many chances to learn so many different things." Dehlia's face broke into a gigantic grin, sort of like that of a child. It only stood to reason because she had a sort of childlike wonder when regarding knowledge and learning. She smiled at the appreciative words of the sweets. Dehlia was glad Alex liked the sweets as much as she herself did. She heard the answer culinary arts and she smiled.
"It's nice to find something to work at that you also have fun doing." That was one luxury Dehlia could not afford. Her debt meant she had to find something that paid well. Something thatwas useful to her employer too. She had a feeling that had she taken something they hadn't been satisfied with, she would not still be studying at the Runic University.
"Well part of why I chose law was because there are a lot of criminals who need to go away. And there are honest people who need help. But...I have to admit my main reasons for taking it are not nearly that noble." She chuckled at herself and rubbed the back of her neck.
"Lawyers make good money. And I need money. Plus a degree in law is useful to my boss, and he's the one paying for me to study." She shrugged. Her debt. The thing that was weighing her down. The reason she had had to take that fifth year. She had a job to pay it off. Or at least the interest.
"But besides that, knowledge is something I seem to crave. And magic, I mean that's the sort of thing that sounds too good to be true, right?I want it!" She laughed. She'd been jealous of her brother's magic once upon a time, and now she sort of had her own. | NOTES: All my characters revolve around money I see a theme XDD WORDS: 321 |

History won't Oh hey look at that: someone else who actually liked learning. Now that was a curious thing to behold. While Alex didn't quite have an expression to match the one Dehlia had, she was definitely smiling wide too. "It's definitely a great place to learn. I'm really glad I got accepted into it." It was such a prestigious place. Truly Alex was surprised she'd gotten to go. More so though because of the major she wanted than anything else. Luckily her dad was very supportive so she got to go anyways. "My dad really helped me there." The redhead admitted freely with a now fond smile. "The way we figured it; if I was going to be doing it for he rest of my life, I might as well be doing something I love." That was her main reasoning anyway. Daniel seemed to agree with it, or at least accept it, so to the university she went.
So her companion was fixing to be a lawyer, huh? It was nice to hear she wanted to help people and put criminals away. However it came as no surprise that there was a secondary motive behind it. Money of course! Alex had to laugh a little. “Lawyers do make good money from what I’ve heard.” The girl responded with a shake of her head. Course, they often got a bit of a nasty reputation for being sharks too. There were pluses and minuses for everything; Alex’s job of choice was no different.
Still, it was kind of funny hearing this girl talk about it. She seemed to be pretty enthusiastic. Ambitious? Well Alex hardly knew her well enough to decide that. “I can understand why you’d want both.” Really she could. Though her own reasons for learning rune magic had more to do with learning an extra way to defend herself and others. That and depending on what happened with her father and the Guild, Alex felt she should at least prepare her options. Who knows? Maybe she’d follow his footsteps. But that was a conversation she wasn’t about to have with a stranger. Who had accidentally groped her.
Yes, we still remember that.
“Runes are very interesting. I haven’t even seen some of the more advanced ones gets, but they’re still very cool! I’d love to learn more, though I have a feeling I’ve got quite a ways to go before I’m at that level.” hey she was smart, but Alex hardly felt she was some super genius to advance so fast. “Luckily I love to learn to.” She added with a grin. “So I think we’ve got that in common at least."

I'm just out to find the better part of me It was nice to meet someone else who was energized about learning. Dehlia's mind always yearned to learn more. There was a reason why her parents had taught her all they had. It was because she had WANTED to.
"My mother taught me that if you are given the opportunity to learn, you have to make the very best of that opportunity. And I try to follow that as closely as possible." Her studies at the university could not be wasted. It was not an option for her.
"That and like you, I'm amazed I was accepted. I have to learn everything I can while I'm there. Because once I'm done my other studies, I won't have the luxury of keeping on learning Runic at the university necessarily." She just wouldn't be able to afford it. As it was, she was deeply in debt to her benefactor and employer. She smiled at the mention of Alex's father helping her. Good, so her mention of her mother wasn't out of place. Her father on the other hand was not someone she was going to mention. There was no telling who was listening. She heard the other girl speak about how she could see why Dehlia would want both. Dehlia rubbed the back of her neck.
"It tends to make the world go round. Or at least some of our worlds." That was a better thing to say than 'I'm in debt up to my eyeballs and I'd really like to be free of it one day', right?
"Yeah I really want to learn some of the more advanced ones too. Being able ot defend yourself is definitely a skill I like to have. My parents taught me that too." She grinned.
"And hey, we have the university in common too, even if I am technically an upperclassman or whatever." She had no idea where the girl was at with the runes though. Perhaps they just hadn't noticed each other in class. Although Dehlia found that unlikely considering they both had bright red hair. Oh right!
"Oh and of course our hair and heights. We have those in common too." Dehlia was 5'11" after all. She took a sip of her drink idly. | NOTES WORDS: 371 |

History won't Alex had to smile a little at that. "She sounds like a smart woman." That was definitely a good motto. Though it made Alex pause a little bit, considering that she didn't have a mother herself. Or well, she had but most of her memories of the woman was fuzzy at best. She remembered red hair and...that was really it. it made her a little sad, but usually the feelings she got from those memories were warm ones. So that must've meant they were good ones, even if the details of why were hazy.
Her attention went back to Dehlia swiftly. She was sympathetic to what she gathered from Dehlia's words. Alex was pretty lucky that Daniel had enough money to allow her to attend the university without much trouble. Though money couldn't buy her an acceptance, so that part was honestly a surprise she'd managed to somehow achieve herself.
"It does." The younger woman agreed albeit a little dryly. "Which was part of the reason I was a little worried going for culinary arts." Fortunately she had a very supportive father. That definitely made things a lot easier for her in comparison, maybe, to others who'd want that.
Alex had to laugh again. "My father taught me too." The amazon admitted with a grin. "He definitely wanted me to be able to protect myself, especially with how busy he tends to be." Daniel couldn't be there all the time. So why not give the girl some real bite behind her? In the form of a spear of course. An knowledge of a martial art style literally meant to kill.
Now this part Alex was a tad curious on. They were the same height? hair color she could understand, but height? She hadn't really noticed it when they were walking over to be honest. She'd been a tad more focused on the fact a stranger had come crashing out of the sky, toppled the amazon over, and (accidentally) groped her. "Really? I haven't really found anyone else that's my height." It wasn't said a s a challenge: Alex was genuinely curious. Girls rarely came in her height. And if her doctor was right, the redhead wasn't done growing apparently.
