(Note: set back during the sunnier seasons so there can be actual peaches)
WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS EATING ALL HER PEACHES?!
Lelianna had noticed the sudden drop in her peach population the day prior. She'd been walking throughout her garden to start harvesting some of the fruit and vegetables she'd grown. Never all of them, since a lot of the animals around liked to eat them. It sort of worked as incentive to keep them nearby. Still, she usually expected to gain some harvest despite the animals chowing down. The Forest usually helped keep them in check itself when Lelianna wasn't there to make sure of it in person. But this?
Almost every single peach had disappeared!
Lelianna had stood there for a good ten minutes simply gaping at the barren branches before moving on to search throughout the foliage. A few still remained, but obviously something had thoroughly enjoyed itself if the number of peach pits on the ground were anything to go by. Grumbling, Lelianna collected the pits and some of the peaches before she carried through with her routine. This had happened before, and she'd learned that it was best to find the animal that had done the deed and put an end to it early before it starting getting worse. So Lelianna waited until the next day to go out early and once more patrol her garden.
Only this time she headed straight for the peach trees she knew still held some fruit.
Sneaking up through the densely populated domain that Lelianna helped plant, she closed in on the peach trees. Truthfully if anyone could actually see what was happening, it was pretty hilarious. Here was this earth magi with antlers sneaking through the bushes like some old-fashioned burglar. Not only that, but she didn't realize that a few leaves and such had gotten caught in her antlers in her attempts to sneak. What a ninja.
Anyways she did eventually make it to her destination and spot something munching away on her precious peaches. it was a...A goat? Maybe? Whatever the cause, Lelianna frowned and stepped out from the bushes as silently as she could while holding her staff. "So you're the one eating my peaches!" She said with a mighty huff and a number of leaves still in her antlers. "You sneaky lil..."

{ } Peaches were such a lovely thing to behold. Their texture was divine, their taste extraordinary, and everything about them was heavenly. There was not a single word within any written, spoken, or forgotten language that could clearly describe the Gods love of peaches. Peaches was what he considered to be his gift from the beings that lived here and that all orchards --- or at least one tree--- should be his to enjoy. Though, it seemed his casual snacking while watching the living seemed to turn into much more then that. He took to each tree and enjoyed their fine fruits of labor. Alas, it seemed on particular woman wasn’t too thrilled with his tiny bit of extra eating. He had told himself he would at least leave one tree be and he had done just that. But watching the people around the area had caused his great pot belly to rumble. Having took to the trees once more he was working on a peach, hunched over on the ground and enjoying his time viewing the things around him. Tatara was not startled or surprised when he was finally caught in the act of eating. All he did was turn his head to look over his shoulder at the woman. All three eyes blinked in unison. Ah, what a lovely woman with antlers with such a determined look in her eyes. Tatara offered the woman the most charming smile with his tiny imp wings flapping uselessly behind him. With a small chuckle, he disappeared before her though a rustling in the tree would indicate the God had not left her at all but merely took some cover. ”Ah, pardon me.” He said with a chuckle. ”It appears my greed has overwritten my intent but your peaches tasted so good that I had trouble stopping with just one. But have no fear, your crops will not be ruined. I replace what I take in due time.” He stated earnestly while large eyes peered out from the leaves above to look down at Lelianna. ”On my word, they shall be replaced.” A few peach seeds fell to the ground with a light thud.

...Tiny three-eyed winged goat man thing?
This was probably as far from what Lelianna had been expecting as it could possibly get. When Tatara turned to look at her, she essentially froze. It was as though time stopped just long enough for her brain to process the image before her and go: Um....what? What was she looking at? Whatever it was, it was smiling at her now? Now it was gone? "Ah- Wa- Ho- Whe- I-" Lelianna couldn't even form a full word at this point; truly this was the worst she'd ever gotten at communicating.
Which frankly was saying something!
Just when Lelianna's legs remembered that they could actually move, there was a voice coming from somewhere. Lelianna's head moved from side to side. At least this....person? was promising to replace all they'd taken in due time, but where were they?! Lelianna's answer came when a number of seeds fell out from above, some of them landing in her hair. "Wah! Hey!" She yelped, glancing up and spotting those strange eyes peering out at her from above. "I um.....t-thank you! I think..." She mumbled the last bit mainly to herself. I mean, the little goat man had basically eaten all her peaches. But he'd given her more seeds, so that was a definite plus! As Lelianna bent down to pick them up (and get some of the ones out of her hair) she realized something.
"Ahhhh....C-Can I ask what your name is?" She questioned, glancing back up. For all she knew this could be a Spirit! "I don't think I've seen you around before." Actually she was definitely sure she hadn't.

{ } Taters peered down from his perch to watch the young woman have trouble finding her words. Strange, he hadn't had that effect on someone in a very long time. Usually though that effect came from someone who was dead and realized who he was and where they might be headed to next. That was often a very long process of explaining things. Thankfully, Lelianna was not dead nor did she appear to be dying anytime soon from the looks of her.
His little hooves kicked back and forth as he remained in place on a branch. He smiled down at the young magi. "Hmm. Yes, well, I don't make it a habit to remain visible too often for mortals to see me. I like being unseen if I can help it or feel like it at the time." Idly he plucked another peach and nibbled on it. Her next question caused him to tilt his head.
"My name?" He seemed lost for a moment. "Strange, I believed your the one who often calls to me. I find it a bit strange you don't know me." All three eyes blinked at once as a smile touched his lips, a playful one at that. "But do please take a guess this might prove to be entertaining for me." MADE BY VEL OF GS

308 wordsTatara R u a wizard Harry?!
► So this day was certainly turning out...completely unexpected.
Seeing as he had given her back seeds to replant, Lelianna bent down to start picking them up. Hey, waste not want not right? As she did she continued listening to the strange...being sitting in the trees above her, occasionally glancing up every now and then. The fact he used the word "mortal" and being unseen made Lelianna think that she just might be dealing with some sort of spirit.
If the fact she was talking to a tiny three-eyed winged goat man thing hadn't already clued her in that this was probably not a normal person/magi.
When Tatara repeated her question, Lelianna glanced up. He almost sounded...lost? But now he was mentioning she ought to know him? Lelianna's face spelled out her confusion for a moment before she tried racking her brain for an answer and the expression turned pensive.
Someone she often calls to...
That tidbit alone was what got Lelianna's attention. There were only a select few that she could think she "called to." Since she already felt this individual was somewhere on the spirit scale. What with his appearance and using the term "mortals" to describe her. Then there was that sort of playful smile she spotted that brought a certain someone (or rather something) to mind. Lelianna took a few more moments to think before she hesitantly gave her answer. "Are you...You couldn't be....Arecia, could you?" She could still feel that familiar and comforting hum in the back of her head. Yet she felt the sense that the forest was being drawn to this individual in a powerful way. Surely that had to mean something, right? Or, even if she was wrong, that the forest recognized something in this being.

{ } Three eyes looked down in confusion while blinking rapidly at her at the moment. He, for a moment, wasn't sure if she was being serious with her answer or not and thus sighed softly. He wasn't sure on how to respond to her for the moment. Thus, he took to removing a few peaches from her trees and shoving them into his mouth for the time being.
Chewing on them thoughtfully he allowed the silence to take over during his munching. He wouldn't speak again until he dropped three seeds to the ground. "I am not Arecia." He stated simply while inspecting a few more peaces of fruit next to him. "I am Tatara." It was then that he glanced down at her to judge her expressions and what might come from her next.
He just hoped she wouldn't confuse him with Nevye next. He wasn't sure what might fly from his lips if she offered such a reply or using Kupeic either. He shook his head lightly. His small fingers plucked another peach from its home among the leaves. Standing, he walked back and forth across the branch was if it was just some normal even out floor rather then a lumpy, twisting, branch.

526 wordsTatara *internal screaming intensifies* ► Considering Lelianna had no idea exactly what or whom she was dealing with, she had actually been serious. She was guessing after all. Spirits indeed did live within Arecia Woods as far as she figured. And well as far as she knew this could be a Spirit.
One who was still eating her peaches!!!
Lelianna only huffed lightly at that, but she wasn't looking to pick a fight. Especially if it was actually a Spirit. She was aware of how powerful those could be. So for now she focused on gathering the seeds Tatara had dropped. Including the next three he dropped down; one of which hit Lelianna on the head. "Ow!" She yipped, glancing up and rubbing the spot that smarted. She would have said something but the little goat man's next words sort of halted the gears in her head.
"I am Tatara." ...Wait what?
Lelianna paused from where she'd put her hand on one of the depleted peach trees. Her power could help it regrow some of its fruit. However with what had been said she was...understandably distracted. Also confused. Also stunned. The expression on her face followed suit with such emotions, morphing through each one in quick succession before it all just got jumbled. It was really hard for her brain to start up again and process anything at the moment.
This was...Tatara? Could you blame her for her shock?
Eventually Lelianna found herself looking back up at Tatara, not realizing that her powers may have been making the tree she'd been helping overgrow a little. "T-Tatara?" She repeated. Wow, nice going. Very astute, wasn't she? Could it be true? He wasn't really....what she expected. Yet there was a source of power to him even Lelianna couldn't deny. Mainly because the plantlife seemed to be reacting to him in some way. She certainly wasn't going to ignore that
"I-I...It's an honor to-" Her words ended up getting cut off when a fully grown peach landed on her head. 'ACH! HEY!" Came the protest as she looked accusingly at the tree she'd been helping along. It had indeed regrown its fruit. However they were pretty dang big now, as well as the tree inadvertently, because of her influence. One of the branches, while she'd been distracted, had shift until a ripe peach was directly over her head.
Now it was directly on her head.
"You big....mean bark head..." Lelianna grumbled, pulling off some of the pieces of peach from her hair. There was that faint groaning noise from the branches treetops that Lelianna could identify as "laughter." Her cheeks were absolutely burning. Of all the times it had to embarrass her, it choose now!? Which reminded her. green eyes flew up to the tiny goat man before averting themselves sheepishly. "Ah....s-sorry sir...I-I mean lord...er, your...worship?" How did someone address a god? "Uhhhhhh.....S-sorry if I talked out of turn or a-anything I ah...I-I wasn't, um, expecting....anything like this."
As if finding a god could be a casual thing in any way.

{ } The God looked down at the magi with a look of mild interest. His thick brow was raised slightly while his third eye seemed to roll lightly on its own accord. ”Tatara.” He said again with a slight nod to try and reinforce the idea. But it didn’t seem like she was fully grasping the fact that a God was sitting in her tree, eating peaches, and not really caring about the day. In fact, now that he noticed it seemed like the tree was growing. With a small sigh, he jumped from the tree and fluttered down to the ground. As soon as his hooves hit the earth he started to walk around the young woman. In his hand was another peach as usual.
How in the world could one God eat so many peaches and where on earth did he put it? That, of course, didn’t matter so much to anyone nor Tatara who was now looking up. ”Might wanna move out of the----or not.” His sentence didn’t fully end as intended. The God had tired to warn the woman about the incoming peach but it seemed his reaction time wasn’t quite to par at the moment. He supposed it was due to the fact he ate too much. With a hand on his furry hip he turned his attention to the tree and simply watched it grow and grow.
He wondered how tall this tree could get now and how much bigger those peaches might become. Because at the moment it looked like some kind of demonic peach was being brought to life and he wasn’t at all sure how he felt about that. ”Ah huh,” Was his simple reply as his focus was clearly still on the tree. ”So, when are you going to stop making this poor thing grow?” He inquired off handly.

449 wordsTatara Darling you're fiiiiiiine ► Oh come on your godliness, could you blame the girl for being surprised? It was strong enough that she didn't even realize her powers were still extending towards the peach tree until after the winged little goat man was out of the branches and suddenly right next to her. Blinking and wiping the rest of the peach away, Lelianna looked over to see-- Oh jeez yeah, that needed to stop.
Immediately Lelianna turned off her magic, grimacing at the sight a little. She reached out once more but did not expend any energy into the tree to help it grow even further. "Sorry boo..." The hermit whispered apologetically. It was far bigger than the other peach trees now; it's branches extended out far and even moved around some of the other trees' branches too. At least the fruit was back, though they too had grown a little in size. Not horrifically but definitely there was a small noticeable size difference in comparison to the other peaches. The hermit sighed and and smacked her forehead lightly.
But then remembered: Oh yeah, there was a god present.
Turning back to Tatara the girl gave him a sheepish smile. "Ah...S-sorry. I just never really expected a g-god to be in my garden...ever, really." Nor did she expect said god to nearly eat her out of ever single peach she'd grown, but Lelianna didn't mention that little tidbit. Somehow she didn't think it would be the most wise. Instead she focused on the good bits. A god had eaten her peaches. That meant they had to be doing well and healthy right? "I'm...I-I"m glad you seem to like them though. That means they must be doing well if they taste good." hey even she could manage up a better smile thinking about that.
However something else was suddenly plaguing her mind.
If this was Tatara-- the Tatara-- then that meant he ruled the dead. Conflict filled her expression as she averted her eyes. She was debating with herself. Should she? Should she not? Was it too much to ask of a god? Was she breaking some sort of rule if she actually put the question out there? Shifting on her feet a little, the hermit's hands lifted to grab the upper part of her arms in a slightly nervous gesture. "I-I...I-I know it's probably not my place, Lord Tatara but um...I-I was wondering if I could...ask you a question?" The redhead managed to finally put out, glancing up with a mixture of terrible nerves and unsure hope playing in those green eyes and across her face.

{ } Taters stood silently by, observing the trees incredible and rather unnatural speedy growth. It seems this earth magi was well in tune with nature to a frightening degree or she just needed to learn to control her emotions better. Huh.
Well, at least she could make the tree grow more peaches and that alone made the God extremely happy. His attention returned to the magi with a smirk on his features. Ah yea, no one ever expected a God to grace their presence. Especially, him as his meetings with mortals often involved with then crying, screaming, running, or just flat out whining. "They are quite well."
Amusement crossed his childish features from her sudden anxiousness. Clearly, she had something to ask of him and her little shifting of the feet was a clear indication of it. Tilting his horned head to the side he decided to see what she might be needing of him.
"The floor is yours, as mortals say..."

366 wordsTatara 8 years I've been wondering... ► Having a God comment on your peaches being quite well was a good thing, right? At least Lelianna thought so, and she'd take that little tidbit to heart. Besides, it wasn't like she was running into gods left and right. But she was getting off topic and already the question forming in her head was starting to bubble to the forefront.
Fortunately Tatara seemed willing enough to hear her out. Which was good! Though it still took the redhead a second or two to get words to leave her lips. The subject she wanted to ask about wasn't exactly...easy for her. "Oh! Ah....T-thank you." She said first with a tiny grateful bow to him. He was being nice listening, after all. With one last pause to bit and worry at her bottom lip, the hermit got talking again.
"Um....E-Eight years ago during the....during the riots both my...both of m-my parents were..." The words she nearly used got stuck in her throat. Cut down. Green eyes started to water subconsciously. Maybe that was the right way to describe it, but it wasn't the way she wanted to. It was too harsh. Too painfully close to her memory. "...T-They both died." She finished quietly instead, her voice holding a bit of shake to it now. "I-I buried them and everything but I just wanted to know...D-Did their souls pass on to you?" Now she finally raised her eyes back to Tatara instead of addressing the ground. A few tears were escaping here and there, but Lelianna wasn't aware of them. "T-They aren't wandering are they? Or refusing to pass on? Their souls are s-safe aren't they?"
Her parents had been slain in a whirl of chaos and slaughter. Even if the redhead could bury and give their bodies a proper ritual, he couldn't do anything about their souls. It had been a little question that had gnawed at her heart for 8 years now. Never knowing if her parents had gone into the cycle again or were somewhere out there, resentful and angered enough by their deaths to continue as ghosts.

{ } Having finally ignored the peaches around him he took to gazing at the young magi. She certainly was something else, especially with her degree of skill of making that tree grow. He had to wonder if she was left alone for a fair amount of time if she could create a whole forest on her own.
A part of that actually terrified him to a certain degree by just picturing the chaos she could probably cause. Clearing his throat he returned to listening to her speak rather then focusing on her skills.
He stood there in silence as was his habit while taking in a person and debating his own personal thoughts. In the end he concluded an answer that was most fitting for this kind of inquiry.
"They have played there part and have moved on quite willingly. Worry not, child." He smiled brightly at her as he looked back towards the large tree. "Though, I would be far more concerned on those peaches and the possibility of them killing someone like a coconut..."

378 wordsTatara Oh thank...you? ► It was like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
Lelianna visibly sagged. Not with exhaustion, but simply with relief from the god's words. As the emotion registered within her and a question that had been plaguing her for years was finally answered, the earth magi's legs simply buckled and she sat down on the ground with a graceless fwomp. "Oh thank you." She breathed, doing her best to wipe away her tears. They weren't ones of sadness now, but rather ones of joy.
Her parents had passed on. They weren't stuck as ghosts for gods only knew how long, bound to wander the earth. Spirits wouldn't end up eating their souls for a tasty snack. They'd get another chance. Hopefully one with a much happier ending than the one they'd gotten this time. As sad as Lelianna was about their passing, at least she could find comfort in knowing that they'd be alright in the end. That was important.
As Tatara spoke up again, Lelianna raised her eyes. She was doing her best to quench the tears. it was...a little hard. Hey when you worried about the state of your parents' souls for years it was going to take a little bit to shake off that relief. Still, at least she could muster up a genuinely happy smile for the god before glancing up at the newly hugeified peach tree. "Oh! O-Oh I'll take care of that." She promised through sniffles, doing one last wipe of her face before trying to gather herself. Come on girl. You're sobbing before a god. Have at least a little dignity.
"I'll remove the peaches so they don't end up falling on anyone. I'd feel horrible if someone got hurt by one. I'm sure the animals will love the peaches though. You could take some too, i-if you'd like." It was...weird to make an offer like that to a god. Technically speaking Tatara could simply take whatever he wanted and Lelianna wouldn't have a say in the matter. He was a god. But still, might as well, right? "I-It's the least I could offer, since you answered my question. I'm...I'm really glad to hear they're okay."

{ } Tatara looked away from the tree and back to Lelianna with a small smile. She felt lighter and he was certain her own soul found a bit of peace knowing that the ones she cared so much for had passed on. In fact, they had moved along quite a long time ago and it was such a shame for her to have suffered with that question. But alas, mortals where a strange bunch and if they had been a tiny bit normal they would always go with him without complaint. Too bad that rarely ever happened it was always a challenge to get someone to move along.
Turning towards her fully he approached the poor woman on the ground. Using both hands he carefully brushed her hair out of her face, smiling as sweet as a peach tasted. ”You are welcome and now rest assure that all is well and move along without such fears.” Reassuring her that all was well in the world he couldn’t not help but to chuckle. He was not laughing at her or her feelings but at the sudden lightly blub that went off above her head at the mention of the trees.
Again, he glanced up at the branches and mused on something for a moment. ”Thank you, but I will not take any today, however, they would make such wondering offerings for me in the future. I do rather love peaches. Did you know its my favorite fruit?” Pulling away he walked up towards the tree and sighed softly. ”Yes, please so that. I have no intention of trying to tell someone that they died from a peach. Actually, that would be a pretty interesting way to go actually. I wonder how someone would feel about that?” He seemed to ponder on this for a long moment before finally laughing away the mere notion. Surely, no one would die from that anytime soon.
Spinning on his hooves he took to gazing at the magi before him. ”Are there any other question you wished to have answered while I am here? I would be more then happy to inform you that peaches make a great pie as well…there is this thing called sugar and it makes it taste very good.”

441 wordsTatara Thanks for your patience! ► It was kind of startling to feel someone part her hair. The only ones who used to do that to the hermit were her parents. When her antlers were first growing in, they'd caused plenty of problems for the magi's thick mane of red locks. It was Lelianna's mother who'd finally helped her daughter keep her hair out of her face. For the most part anyways. She looked up at Tatara and managed to smile for him. "T-Thank you, Lord Tatara." The magi said earnestly. At least she knew her parents' souls were safe within the God's hands. Who knew? Maybe she would get to meet them again one day.
Doing her best, she managed to regain a little composure. It was a very emotional moment, alright? The hermit had face a few things by the time she'd retreated within the woods to begin her hermitude. One of the few things that had always remained on her mind was the fate of her parents. This was a very heavy subject for her. Though perhaps not as heavy as it once had been.
If someone had told her that the God of death enjoyed peaches as offerings, Lelianna would have been...very confused. That or that the God looked the way he did. Honestly this whole encounter in general had taught her quite a bit about the God that she'd never in a million years have considered. Like the fact the God could make her laugh. That certainly helped lift her spirits a little as she stood back up. "I...have a feeling they'd be surprised." Death by a peach. Yeah that didn't exactly sound like the best way to go out. And definitely not the way you want others to hear about. Lelianna would take care of it later.
As for more question? The hermit truly couldn't think of anything else. She offered him another smile, this one a bit stronger. "No, Lord Tatara. You've...You've answered the only question I'd ever wanted to ask. Thank you again." He'd already, in her eyes, done more than enough for her. How on earth (ha) could she repay him? Well he seemed to like peaches so... "Um...I know it's probably not saying much, Lord Tatara, since you're a, ah, god and everything but um..." C'mon Lelianna, get to the point. "Ah...Y-You can come here whenever you like. Y-you already can!" She added quickly since this was a, you know, god. "B-But ah I just- I wanted to...I-I wanted to just m-make that...T-To say that out loud."
What a wonderful stuttering conversation.
