spirit sighting
"Be purged in purifying flame." ➼ antagonistic roll ➼ rolled on mm/dd/2017 ➼ 381 words | Devastation. Ruin. Slaughter. These were the things that greeted the pair sent to investigate the small village. The flaming wreckage of once sturdy structures now stood as blackened husks with their insides bared to the world. The skeletal remains of a few vehicles littered the dirt road cutting a path through the village center. And despite the scale of the destruction the true horror lay in the sickly-sweet scent of roasted human flesh upon the wind and the charred husks of the men, women, and children that’d been too slow or simply unfortunate.
The blaze engulfing one building grew in intensity for the briefest of moments, shooting flames soaring into the night sky. It died down to its previous intensity a short time later only to be replaced by yet another and another. The great conflagration was bursting into flares in a straight line as though dancing to the whim of a pianist’s travelling fingertips. A concussive burst of heat and noise washed over the pair like a breeze, wildly ruffling their hair and kicking dust into their faces. Then, a shape erupted from a building on the far end of the town. A dog thrice the size of the average greyhound stood with its trio of heads lowered. Its stance was low and aggressive, matching the low, rumbling growl echoing from its chest. The three heads fixed the intruders with a menacing glare with eyes that burned like embers and bared teeth like daggers in a sinister snarl. Trails of flame burned harmlessly along the creature’s spine. The heat emanating from the monster was so immense that it distorted the air in strange ways.
The three heads reared back and unleashed a ghostly howl to the moonlit sky; the flames of the conflagration rose into towering pillars of heat and light, and lowered only in sympathy with the howl’s end. The heads lowered once again and the creature leveled a stare with those red-glowing orbs as it took the measure of his prey. They were mortal and he was the very incarnation of fire itself. He was king of these lands now, and they were trespassing upon his land; their punishment would be to be consumed so that they might further fuel his wrath.
They would be food. Nothing more.

[attr="class","oho"] don't even know what i'm fighting for just know i can't stop fighting. [attr="class","monalisa"]Oh, by the goddess... Orion had seen some pretty horrible shit in his tenure as a Hunter, but nothing quite so bad as this. The small town looked like it had been hit by a fiery tornado, with each building gutted by the blast. It was even worse than anything he'd seen from a Magi. No wonder the leader of this backwater country had needed help from the Hunter's guild. What he couldn't understand was why he'd felt the need to send the decidedly puny Magi with him. If it wasn't for the fact that she was his only back-up, he'd have already put a bullet in her. For now, it was best to keep thoughts of that nature to himself. From the look of this place, he was going to need the help.
He paused at the corpse of a child, his grip tightening on the gun in his hand as he looked down at it. Magic. It was always magic that did these sorts of things. He looked up again, sniffing the air for any hint of the perpetrator, and immediately regretted it. The scent of charred flesh was not the sort of thing that a person forgot, and he'd smelled it one too many times when he was tracking down terrorists in Felici. He couldn't smell anything beyond that stench. He wiped his face, snorting to clear it of the odor and wishing he'd brought a bandanna to tie over his nose and mouth.
A concussive blast of energy washed over him, and he was glad he had his elbow over his face, protecting him from the dust and heat. He lowered it as he looked toward the source. A massive creature had emerged from one of the buildings, and the sight of it made the blood drain from his face. A great, flaming dog with three heads. It was a Spirit. Had to be. The heat from it was so intense that he could feel it from this distance, which meant that fighting it would have to be a distance game. Pulling a rune from his pouch, he wrapped the small page around the barrel of his pistol. Fortify. In this case, he'd drawn up the rune to make his bullets hit harder.
"I don't suppose you have any distance attacks?" he asked, lifting his gun to aim at the beast.
He shot at its heads experimentally, his pistol barking loudly. At this distance, it would take someone with his level of accuracy to actually hit anything, but the rune would allow the bullets to maintain their force.

Rynth sighed as she remembered her reasoning for arriving here... A student of hers had family with this island. The anxiety that filled the child she mentored had brought up a resolve to fight. That resolve was fueled prior to meeting the Hunter she had to work with. She wondered between the two of them who would have shot the other in the back first. Having recognized him from the memory banks of Jeniah allowed her to relax her normal illusionary reactions. The ability of enhanced smell would alert her to what sort of magic she would had been capable. So for the mean time the yellow glowing eyes and snake like scales that showed from her exposed neck and forearm weren't hidden by her illusions. Knowing full well that she needed to rely on her illusions within this fight. Rynth has prepared a few hovering speakers that were controlled by specific inputs with her gloves. Approaching their marked destination to be greeted by burning homes as well as the smell of burnt flesh. It was disgusting... But it didn't come to its worse until they encountered the corpse of a child... The horrid expression left on what was left on their face made her appearance almost flicker. Anger and hate filled her upon seeing the corpse, but she willed herself to take a good long look at the body... Feeling the sudden force of a heated wind jolted her back to reality as she did her best to clean up what dust and ash had hit her face. Had they been close to the source of that her ears would had definitely began ringing. Looking onto the source of a loud roar only for her to feel a mixed sense of hate and concern. The emanating heat was intense... She might have been able to regenerate, but no where as good as a practiced healer to deal with that intense heat. As ash began slowly falling she stretched her scarf to cover her face as she began to inhale the air around them. Hearing the Hunter speak to her for the first time since they've been paired up she spoke up. "Besides a gun... Nothing that will directly harm him, but he will fear us!" the burning anger that previously fueled her aided to her imagination. Soon a translucent snake began taking form around both Rynth and the hunter as they would soon disappear from the spirits vision. As the illusive snake starting becoming more solid in appearance Rynth retrieved three of her remote control speakers. It took only a few seconds as the two of the speakers moved out of the illusion to be hidden by the misleading copies of herself. "He will fear us!" In sync with her words the third speaker began emit the sound of a loud roar as it hovered above the both of them. Her two copies moving out to both their right and left with their guns raised pointing at their enemy. With her gun raised up from her own hand the words within her mind echoed 'Fear us!' As she attempted to force the emotion of fear onto the beast with her sympathy. Taking her first three shots at the creature, Rynth began walking to her left as she would do her best to maintain her distance from the fiend. @orion, DDos

spirit sighting
"Be purged in purifying flame." ➼ antagonistic roll ➼ rolled on mm/dd/2017 ➼ 382 words | The great fire spirit lowered itself below the trajectory of the projectile speeding towards him. He snarled as the shot gouged a thin, painful line through down his back. The snarl evolved further into a growl as the thought that this would be so much simpler under normal circumstances. He could’ve simply shifted planes and bombarded the mortals from the safety of a realm they had long since forgotten how to interact with. As things stood, the dealings of dubious gods would force him to stand his ground and fight the mortals as flesh and blood.
It would not change the outcome in the slightest.
He watched as the serpent formed and the pair of mortals disappeared with the less impressive of the two shouting something about how he would fear them. He felt the need to laugh at the arrogance his magic was translating for him, and would have if not for the slight twinge worming its way into his chest. Fight or flight; that age old instinct began rising to the forefront of his mind as his tail curled underneath his frame. It had been many years since the last time even the slightest inkling of fear and even longer since he considered the possibility running. The sheer audacity of his body’s attempt to rebel against him was infuriating; it forced the towering blaze of his wrath to rise to ever greater heights, helping to banish the fear clutching his chest.
He would not run. He would fight!
“I am fire!” the spirit roared back in the mortal tongue, each head speaking with a slightly different timber. “I am death! I fear nothing! You will be the ones to fear Me!” The spirit opened his mouths wide, revealing the red glare of the fire burning within him. Streamers of flame were dragged away from the surrounding blaze towards the gapping maws and they coalesced into moderately sized balls of radiance as each head took aim. Then, he would unleash the fireballs with a roar and send them careening towards the two false magi and their snake companion. Each of the fireballs would explode upon impact and then the spirit would charge the last place he’d seen the mortals, kicking up plumes of ash-laden with each fall of his padded feet.

[attr="class","oho"] don't even know what i'm fighting for just know i can't stop fighting. [attr="class","monalisa"]Orion's eyes narrowed as his... ally... created an illusion to confuse and frighten the Spirit. Gods, Orion hated zero Magi. He would have to remember to stay away from her, however they needed to work together. He didn't believe for one second that she wouldn't turn on him the second that she didn't need him anymore. He kept his weapon leveled at the Spirit, his mind racing over what he had seen. It had tried to dodge his bullet, and had almost succeeded. He'd never even heard of a Spirit that could be hurt by a gun, but this one had dodged. Was it possible that this thing was flesh and blood right now? How was that even possible?
It didn't matter. He would take advantage of it, if it meant keeping himself... and the Magi, he supposed... alive. It was rising again, whatever the Magi had tried to do, and he had a bad feeling that this thing wasn't going to be thrilled about the attempt to use magic on it. Think... Think. His bullets would contribute, but how was he going to finish the job? Mythology told him that a hydra could be killed by destroying the heart, not the heads. But he doubted mythology had much basis in reality. Besides, this thing wasn't a hydra, however many heads it had. Still, perhaps attacking the heart was the best option.
The creature spoke, and it became clear that it didn't appreciate the Magi's words. Orion personally wished she had kept her damn mouth shut. The thing was dangerous enough without being angry on top of it.
Opening its mouth, it formed fire in its throat and held it there, probably building power or pressure. When it loosed the attacks, Orion dodged with a mighty leap, rolling across the earth to find shelter behind a gutted building. He glanced around the corner, frowning at the monster. Taking aim, he shot at each of the heads twice, aiming for the eyes, his mind going over which runes he would need to use. He had a number of them at his disposal, already drawn up, but anything more specific would require time and a distraction. He had no doubt that the Magi could provide a distraction.
For now, though, he would see if he could kill it with bullets. While he worked at that, his mind would be conceiving a plan for the Runes it would take to put this thing down. The ones he had were useful, but none of them had the power that he needed to kill something of that size.

With the roar of the beast's anger as it drew fire. Rynth knew she would have to move away from its fire as well as most of her speakers. Making herself invisible as she ran to the closest building to remain out of the blast radius of the creatures attack. Only now looking back to see the Hunter make his own leap to safety as they seemed to be temporarily separated. The distance of his leap was definitely inhuman and she wasn't about to run out into the open just to catch up. Reacting in no time to respond to the attempts on her illusions. Rynth had to convince the spirit then illusions were real before she would attempt sympathy on the damn thing. Utilizing her ability in illusions to have all of the mirages dodge as best as they could. Letting their existence melt away should see the fire pass through any of their forms. With no prior plan or experience working with one another. This may end up being more dangerous only because they wouldn't be able to communicate. 'Shit! The Damn spirit had to make things harder.' she thought to herself. Creeping around the corners of the building she had her gun at the ready waiting for her opportunity to take a shot at the beast. Having prepared the hover speakers to let erupt the sound of a gun shot whenever she pulled the trigger. Rynth was nervous having not faced an enemy like this before... One that either had abilities akin to a fire magi or more likely greater than that due to its unknown age. Thinking on it more she desperately wished the hunter would fight the damn creature with his sword... Although the blistering heat that radiated from it was more than reason enough for both of them to stay away. Looking out as she cloaked in invisibility in an attempt to locate the Hunter and the beast. @orion DDos

spirit sighting
"Be purged in purifying flame." ➼ antagonistic roll ➼ rolled on mm/dd/2017 ➼ 310 words | The spirit loosed a frustrated snarl when his teeth snapped upon nothing more substantial than air. Blasted mortal! He heard the bark of the pistol long before he felt searing pain of one of his left most head’s eyes bursting. He yelped in pain as his own inner heat hiked in temperature and melted the remaining projectiles before they met his flesh. While the injured head shook itself from side to side, the remaining two heads snarled death at the worthless mortal that had dared to harm him. He sniffed the air in search of his prey. Though the smell of charred flesh was nearly overwhelming, there was a new scent being carried upon the scorching winds.
He turned the gaze of all three heads on the source of the scent and gathered another trio of fireballs in their mouths, which were launched in sequence in an attempt to lure the mortal into the open. He would then charge at the sound of running feet or any other attempts to flee, braying his anger at the one who had harmed him.
“Where are you, cowards!? Your tricks will not save you from me! I smell your filth stench!” He breathed fire as he ran, bathing the area immediately in front of him in gouts of flame. Whether or not he caught the mortal in his attack would be irrelevant as he attempted to return to the spirit realm only to find some force prevented him from doing so. He snarled his frustration as he instead sought safety in one of the burning shells to gather his strength. Bathing in the flames granted him a flush of new vitality that suffused his entire frame. With his energy restored, he would burst through the blackened remains of a wall, eyes and nose wide and searching as the building collapsed in on itself.

[attr="class","oho"] don't even know what i'm fighting for just know i can't stop fighting. [attr="class","monalisa"]Damn it, only one of his shots had landed. The heat from this beast was enough to melt a metal projectile, which was disheartening to say the least. He would have to rely on his Runes, if he was going to survive this. What did he have to counter fire Magi in his rune inventory? Ice pillar would probably damage the thing, but how was he supposed to set that Rune, if he couldn't get close enough to the beast without burning to death? He would have to set it elsewhere with a Delay rune, and get the beast over there with other runes, or a trap. His mind raced over the options as he tried to decide on the exact combination of runes that he would need to write up for his plan to work.
In the meantime, he needed to set up a safe zone, somewhere he could work without being killed. That would mean a Spirit Ward, but he didn't think that the rune would do much about the ridiculous amount of heat that emanated from the beast. Little solace it would be if the thing burned down the building because it couldn't get inside... That made a Magic Shield a necessary addition. But as he was planning all of this, the Spirit was hardly standing still. It was a dog, and it seemed to have the sense of smell to go along with it. That would make this all a bit trickier. He needed to find a building that was still standing.
He peeked out, looking around to find a suitable candidate. All that he found was that the dog was somehow absorbing the flames, healing the minor damage he'd managed to do. Damn it all.
Pulling a rune from his pouch, he placed the Mark rune on the wall he was hiding behind and sprinted across the street, diving for cover behind another ruined shell of a building. He had the other half of the Recall rune in his pouch, in case he needed to dodge quite far very quickly. But there was a building a few houses down that looked like a promising candidate, and he crept toward it, knowing that he would need some time if he was going to draw the runes that would protect it. He'd never had need for a Spirit Ward rune before, but thankfully he was practiced with the theory.
"Buy me some time," he hissed as he passed the Magi. "I have a plan."
Once he got to the building, he started drawing up the runes he needed, working as quickly as he could without sacrificing precision. Because losing an arm to sloppy rune-drawing was the last thing he needed right now... The Rune had Spirit Ward as the central symbol, but he added Shield and Magic Shield to the outside, to ensure that it really was the safehouse they desperately needed. Not a second later than was possible, Orion affixed the new rune to the wall of the building.

Seeing the spirits reaction from the bullets brought a bit of relief to her… it could be harmed by conventional weapons. To her dismay however it was at minimal only to puncture the surface of the creature’s body. Rynth grit her teeth considering the possibility of running away. They weren’t fighting this creature on their terms, but were trying attack him on his territory. While this had been the job, her whole being had been screaming to run. Individually she would had been out matched and would do everything in her effort to escape, however she had the aid of the hunter. A cold comfort that the death of herself may come from something more familiar than the heated jaws of this spirit. Hearing the creature howl his scornful words prompted her to keep moving behind cover. Making herself invisible any time he had turned in her general direction. It sent chills down her spine once she spotted that the creature would start relying on his sense of smell… She had been prepared for tricking the sense of smell of a hunter, but she wasn’t sure how effective it may be with a spirit. Rynth wouldn’t have to worry for long as it seemed that the spirit was focused on the hunter… so long as they didn’t stay close to one another he should have a harder time locating them both….. The magi’s train of thought stopped in horror as she noticed the hunter run right past her with the request to buy her time! OH, DAMN IT ALL TO HELL! Rynth internally screamed as she had all of her hover speakers return to her. The Magi would have to be quick as she began stripping off her jacket, long sleeve shirt, and hat. Leaving her in her tank top as she clipped each article of clothing to their own speaker. This would slow down the speakers a bit, but it would hopefully draw the attention of the hound. Having the illusion of her fully dressed self hide away the speakers. Running to a new location as she lifted the headset’s microphone to her mouth. To speak in a mocking tone to the creature “Hehehe… did the little pup get hurt by mere human? Maybe that’s why the goddess abandoned you?” the echo of the machines matched perfectly to all three of her false images… Rynth would do her best to have her illusions dodge his attacks as the burning cloths would alert him to their nature. spirit sighting
"Be purged in purifying flame." ➼ antagonistic roll ➼ rolled on mm/dd/2017 ➼ 597 words | Sniffing the air told the spirit a number of different things. The first of these was that his quarry had evaded his fiery assault, which only stoked the ever-growing flames of his rage; he longed for a fresh burst of charred flesh to fill his gullet and these mortals were particularly stubborn in their insistent desire to cling to their meager lives. Their impurity was a blight upon the world. They needed to be purged in flame so that the destruction visited upon them could make way for fresh growth.
His ears flicked towards the sound of running feet and he turned to lob another trio of explosive balls of fire in the direction. He was annoyed when there was no cry of pain as flesh blistered and peeled away from bone. A growl resonated deep in his chest as his frustration continued to compound upon itself. The need to fill his belly with mortal flesh was near overwhelming at this point. He attempted to shift back to the plane spirits called their own, but he infernal block was still there. Again, he spat a curse in the olden tongue at the spider and his games! What right did he have to interfere with the cleansing!?
His thoughts were interrupted when the female mortal spoke and, for once, his rage cooled to a simmer rather than a great conflagration. He watched the fleeing images of the woman with each of his three heads as the surrounding blaze fell to a more natural level. “The Goddess never abandoned us. For years, she fought for our sakes as the mortals ravaged the land to fill the hole in their chest cavities.” The sound of padded feet could just barely be heard crackle of burning wood and the crash collapsing buildings. The trio of heads swiveled freely, searching for prey.
“And then the war was over, and the Goddess created a new race to bridge the divide torn open by the old wounds. Your race.” He swiped a paw at one of the many charred bodies lying about and sent it flying as though it weighed nothing.
“But as time passed and your toys grew in importance, you forgot the lessons of that time. Your favor shifted from your mother’s teachings to the petty creations of your mortal cousins. We did not abandon the goddess. It was you that abandoned her.” Far in the distance, the lighthouse was beginning to fail. The spirit knew not what it was that he was feeling, or why, but it seemed as though some great weight was lifted from his shoulders. His lips pulled backward in a canine approximation of a smile as he began to fade from sight.
“And now, you will pay for your betrayal with your lives.” The last thing to remain in sight was the hellish glow emanating from his teeth. Now cloistered safely away in the spirit realm, he could easily see the magic originating from his goddess’s traitorous child. The sting of the woman’s words was still fresh upon his thoughts as he slowly padded his way towards her. He stopped less than a meter away and leveled a three-headed glare at her before reappearing with flame building behind his teeth, obviously planning to purify the magi.
In the center of the town, a pillar of light shot skyward and sent ash and dirt swirling into the air. The pillar gradually shrunk in size until it disappeared in its entirety. In its place was a sword that floated several inches from the ground in complete defiance of gravity.

[attr="class","oho"] don't even know what i'm fighting for just know i can't stop fighting. [attr="class","monalisa"]Time... he needed time. One of the biggest failings of combat with runes was that it took so long to draw one, and Orion knew just how much could happen in the span of a few seconds, if you were in the middle of battle. He would just have to hope that Cindy or Sara, or whatever her name was... He would hope that she could hold her own while he was occupied. The Spirit couldn't get in, but that didn't mean that it would do something similarly horrible, like making the area around the shelter too hot for him to consider leaving. His hand moved swiftly on the page, as swiftly as he could go and still be accurate with his strokes. He glanced up as he heard the Spirit begin to speak, but he tuned it out. He had work to finish.
Spirit Ward was the central rune, with a Reverse rune attached to trap the Spirit inside of the structure. It would destroy the building, no doubt, but it would also make sure that the Spirit was where he needed it to be at that one moment. He stacked the effect by adding the Pull rune and specifying that it worked only on Spirits, in case the ward wasn't enough to get it there. It would be voice activated, so Orion wouldn't have to be in the place for it to work. That was key. Don't be on fire. Really, it was the key to the battle strategy in general.
The second rune he drew was a lot more simple. Ice Pillar. No doubt the Spirit could melt the ice, but the rune always began with an enormous burst of cold water, and that was sure to hurt the damn thing. He glanced out, and was alarmed to see the thing was fading from sight. What was going on now? It turned invisible? Yep, it turned invisible. He pulled one of his previously drawn runes out of his bag and attached it to his skin. Identify magic. At this point, all it did was show him the glow of the supernaturally created heat. It wasn't enough. He'd have to move up his plans. He finished the Ice Pillar rune with a Pressure Plate rune, specifying that it would go off when in proximity to a Spirit.
Positioning his two runes, he tore off the one that had shielded the building and pulled out the Recall mark. He pressed it with the palm of his hand and found himself back at the side of the building where he had started. He was about to activate his attack when he noticed a brilliant beam of light, and he looked down at the ground where it touched the earth. What the... A sword? His own wouldn't do much good against this dog, but maybe that one would have better luck? No time.
"Activate Lā!" he shouted. If the Spirit was pulled into the building, the Ice Pillar rune would go off. If not, running for the sword would be suicidal.

After initiating her distraction to hear the beasts voice had piqued her curiosity. During the genocide and the events after Rynth had used her illusions as well as her words to push the buttons of many foes to pull them into a more favorable position to kill. While she had no prowess in a fight she always had the ability to rely on another and now she would rely on a Hunter. The words of this spirit made her wonder if he had chosen to spare the lives of the people here... Could he had been reasoned with... If it was possible it is far too late... Memories of her student's crying out for her as they perished in a fires and under the boots of hunters flashed within her mind. To remain focused she kept her eye on him from behind a building. The fact she had gotten him to speak so loudly and so full of conviction had seemed like this would be going into the usual bait and kill tactics she was used to. To hear the beast spit the words of contempt at her kind showed her that her people weren't quite welcomed by the goddess's first borns or the humans they grew with. It was only now that she looked onto the spirit with horror as he faded from her sight.... "Shit... Shit..." She reaches down to her side in a hurry already deduced that it was by no illusion that the spirit of fire had faded from her vision. If he wasn't there he wasn't physically there at all... In a panic she rushed to pull out her gun and call upon her machines. In her panic and fear her eyes and head race all around herself... Having a frightful taste of what her illusions could be like on the receiving end. Ultimately to see the spirit appear out of thin air from the corner of her eye made all sense of fighting to disappear. There was no fighting this she could only run. On instinct and practice Rynth attempted to blind the spirit temporarily with nothing but blinding white to fill his vision. Her instinct was to run to where ever the Hunter was. Attempting to weave in and out of buildings to keep herself out of the hounds line of fire. DDos, @orion

"Be purged in purifying flame." ➼ antagonistic roll ➼ rolled on mm/dd/2017 ➼ 505 words | Fear. He could smell it wafting off the magi like the scent of spring flowers driven by the winds. This was the proper reaction him in all his terrible glory; this was what all mortals should feel in his presence; this was the proper respect that all mortals would show as he torched their homes and their bodies before he devoured their souls. His goddess wouldn’t welcome his efforts to cleanse the world of the blight that was the mortal world; he did not care for it was the necessary path to take if he was to see her return to her rightful place.
It was in that moment that he saw his vision fill with painful white just as he made to breath fired on his prey. He roared after the fleeing footsteps as he tried to shake his heads free of the white filling his vision. Damned magi and their trick! He would burn them all for the arrogance of this single woman and her blasted human companion! There would be no blood, no bone, not even ash when he was done!
His vision eventually cleared enough for him to see without effort and his eyes all but burned as he searched for a victim upon which he could vent his wrath. He turned his head to a building that seemed a far more interesting target than any other and charged through its outer walls with little regard to what was inside. Each of his three heads swung wildly in search of the source. The rightmost head was the first to spot the small slip of paper that had drawn his attention to the building. He snarled at the thing. He knew well enough the branch of humanity that practiced with that… abomination. Too late he noticed that there was yet another slip of paper near his feet when he barreled through.
A pillar of cold water raced skyward from beneath him, drenching his coat and snuffing the flames lining his body. He howled miserably as his inner flame died to an ember that barely sparked with life as he stumbled away. Then, the water began to freeze and a new spike of pain was driven in to his head cavity. He summoned flames from the adjacent buildings to the structure that entrapped him. When the fires proved insufficient in extinguishing the mist that arrived in the wake of the melting ice, the spirit summon the blaze from another building. And another, and another, and another. Soon the blaze that had once encompassed the entire town was focused upon a single building that belched smoke and ash and mist. The building and much of what was inside was unable to withstand the onslaught and collapsed in on itself, spilling the spirit trapped within into the open. He faded from sight to the safety of his home realm, coughing ash as his inner flame guttered again and again as it attempted to reignite itself.
“DAMN YOU, HUMAN! I WILL BURN YOU UNTIL NOTHING REMAINS!”
((DM Notes: Damn, he's mad.))

[attr="class","oho"] don't even know what i'm fighting for just know i can't stop fighting. [attr="class","monalisa"]He didn't see what it was that had made the Spirit recoil from the Magi, but he felt oddly relieved to see her run off, not devoured. It was probably just his relief that he wouldn't have to fight the damn thing without any chance of back-up. However many runes he could throw at this beast, without the time to write them, he wouldn't have any chance to use them. He couldn't expect to get lucky again with the beast choosing to talk for a while instead of attacking, especially if the mouthy one of the pair wasn't helping. At this point, it seemed that the illusion had distracted it badly enough to give the female Magi a bit of extra time to get away. He didn't dare move from his place until he saw that his Runes were beginning to have an effect on the three-headed spirit.
Orion couldn't help but smirk with satisfaction as the beast burst into his trap, and it went off. The agonized howl was enough to tell Orion that he couldn't wait. It was time to go for the sword. He had his own, but he had a feeling that this one might be a bit more effective than his, especially considering that his was specifically designed to combat air Magi, not fire magic of any kind. He sprinted across the clearing, stopping in front of the sword. He hesitated briefly before gripping the weapon by the hilt and attempting to take it from the place where it seemed to float in mid-air.
He stopped in place and ducked when he saw that the flames were bursting from the buildings, all flowing into the structure where Orion had trapped the Spirit. It seemed that he'd chosen the right element to hurt the thing, although the ice hadn't stayed solid any longer than he'd expected it to. It was trying to re-invigorate itself using the flames that were already in place, and hopefully that meant that the thing was on its last legs. When the building collapsed, Orion's face paled. He was caught out in the open, and the Spirit wasn't inside any longer.
His face hardened. It wasn't on fire. Now was the only chance he was likely to get. Whether he had his own sword in hand, or the magical one, he took a Fortify Pull rune from his pouch and added a few more strokes to the page, specifying that it would work only for Spirits, and that it would activate on a voice command. He placed it on the ground and took a stance that would skewer the Spirit if his rune worked. He braced himself, knowing that if this failed, he'd be inches away from a seriously pissed off Spirit. Hopefully, this move wouldn't be suicidal.
"Activate Lā!" he said one more time.

Rynth hadn't ran with this much effort since the eight years ago. The sense of fear and desperation that she relived would soon fade once she had found a place to hide herself from the sight of the spirit. She clutched her chest attempting to catch her breath as the sprint exhausted her. Collecting herself as the magi had regained her composure. Looking around herself to find that her machines have found her, the Magi clutches onto her chest to look out upon her surroundings as the threat of fire was still around them. Or at least it had been... Look upon a rare sight as the spirit was drawing upon all the fires as it howled in pain and agony. As sound of water and fire conflicting with a loud hiss. "So the hunter laid a trap out..." She thought to herself out loud as her eyes were drawn to the sword that was hovering. It wasn't long until she spotted the human who seemed to be frantically preparing for a final stand as he seemed to aim the tip of the blade within his hands directly at the spirit. Looking back to where the spirit was supposed to be. As it slowly ebbed away from her vision sent out a great amount of alarms. Rynth already knew she would likely be unable to out run this beast... her continued existence was dependent on this human's survival. Although her survival was dependant on the hunter. She had already risked her own life for him once. Like hell she was gonna do it a second time. Instead she kept watch from a distance. Her anxiety catching up with her finally as looked to the around trying to be wary of where the beast may show up. Her free hand clutches her chest as her breathing becomes far heavier than before. With her gun at the ready she prepared to fire upon where the beast may appear. Her intention to blind it once more and hopefully allow her as well as the hunter the opportunity to kill the mutt once and for all. In this instance she wouldn't be an exact repeat of her illusion to escape from the beast. Rynth had remembered the feeling... The experience of losing consciousness. The moment the beast would appear his vision would slowly be drawn away from him as if it were simply an image being pulled into the darkness. DDos, @orion
