APPEARANCE Pronunciation: Ta-Ta-Rah How the Culture Perceives Him: Much to his sadness, it seems every culture depicts him as some kind of skeleton who runs about with a dark cloak. That or of an old man who looked like he could of been ran over with a bike far too many times. Alas, there is very little he can do about this and how people seem to fear him. He just can't understand what is so frightening about dying and why its so dang hard to reap a soul. Really, its not the end but people don't seem to get it. He holds no statue as no one has ever built him one to worship him. Even though this might be true, the belief of death and the fear of it keeps him fully alive and strong. How He Actually appears: He is nothing like his statues and idealized poems of man kind. He isn't skin and bones, no in fact he is a pot bellied, goat legged, strangly horned, three eyed, imp! He isn't over 4ft, in fact he just stands at a poor 3ft and 7 inches in height. Many might ask him why he appears this way and in truth he merely shrugs. Because honestly, who is gonna follow and trust a scary looking dude? The friendlier, the better. However, when he doesn't feel the need to wear his impish self, he does have a more adult form. Taking on the appearance of a goat legged man with long purple hair and a small pair of horns from his head. Standing at a decent height of seven foot.
PERSONALITY
POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES Enjoy's Work: Tatara enjoys seeing a soul being reborn anew, and finds his job to be rather relaxing. Neutral Being: Unlike the other Gods, Tartara considers himself to be completely neutral. He is also quite flattered when someone worships him and might favor them---to a degree. NEGATIVE ATTRIBUTES Easily Annoyed: Tatara gets quite annoyed when a soul is stolen from him by another god. He finds that to be rather rude and stepping over their boundaries. He also dislikes seeing a finely crafted soul go sour. Easily Bored: Tatara gets rather bored and slightly discontent when a person begs not to move on to the next life. It's just tiring to hear the same thing over and over. WEAKNESSES Peaches: Tatara enjoys a good peach. Souls:Tatara is weaker when his souls are being messed with, be it through their own volition or another God's.
VERY BRIEF HISTORY If one bothered to speak to this particular God about his history he would merely shrug at it. He had been a God that governs over the souls of mortals that he can't even remember where he came from or what his purpose was before. All he knows is his lavender tree that he enjoy sitting under, carefully crafting souls and recycling them into new lives. As well as helping them depart their old. He greatly enjoys his work and the ones he has helped create.
SPIRIT GROUPIES These little spirits are known by many names across lore, languages, and cultures. Grim Reapers, Angels of Death, Undertakers. But within the religious sect of Tatara they are most commonly referred to as Guides. As Tatara cemented His role as the Deity who would orchestrate the souls' cycle, there was a species of spirit that came forward in order to assist the God they had become fond of. The Guides purpose are to, as the name insinuates, escort/lead souls to the required destination in order to be reborn. There are literally tens of thousands of these Guides that exist within the spiritual realm; always so quick to assist a soul back to the loving patient embrace of Tatara. This spirit has two forms. The first and most commonly seen, is their natural state. A transparent wispy being that glows a light blue. In this form they are content, peaceful, patient. Happy smiling teeny tiny faces crafted from calming white light. Small enough to fit within the palm of one's hand. However as kind as they and their task seem, there is a warning that should be heeded upon the day you meet one. You never want to witness the second form. The comforting soft hue of blue darkens and pulsates a dark purple. More expressive facial features will emerge to display their fury. Yes, if you see this form the spirit has been made pissed. These little guys become extremely violent, easily overpowering lesser souls to quite literally drag them unwillingly so as to complete their task.
RELIGIOUS SECT Preferred Offerings: Peaches, Incense Most Common Followers: - Spiritualist, Monks - Those seeking the unknown - The Occult Possible Blessings and Gifts: Starter: Detect Soul: The god of death and life has given you the ability to sense and see souls through walls up to 50 feet. Cleansing: The ability to temporarily absolve a ghost of all negative emotions or intent. The longevity of the effects range from minutes to hours depending on the Medium's experience. This has been used as a more pacifist option when dealing with dangerous entities in comparison to using Holy Water. Medium I: This ability allows a person to see fleeting glimpses into the otherworldly plane. At this stage these sightings may last up to ten seconds. These people have been known to catch a chance glance of a God passing but more likely these individuals will see ghosts of the dead and Spirits. Intermediate: Medium II: (Upgrade of Medium I) The person now has more control over these static fleeting glimpses of supernatural phenomena. Focusing, the individual is able to not only see but hear such beings up until a migraine forces the person to cease. This includes all of the before mentioned categories: ghosts, Spirits, and deities. Whether they take the time to talk to the Medium is up to their personalities. Exorcism I: The ability to forcefully eject a ghost from whatever host it was possessing, whether that be an object or an animal. Exorcising people is still beyond your current capabilities. This act does not seal that item or person from future possession. Blessed Peach Pit: When you have been chosen to enter into the service of Tatara one way or another you will find a blessed peach pit in your grasp. This pit cannot be thrown out and if you try it will be returned to you through some means or another. The pit serves as a "GPS tracking system" for Tatara or one of his minions to come and pick up the soul to move it into the next life and reincarnation. To do this the person in the employ of the God of Death must touch the pit to the ghost. Seeing as the pit originated in the Ethereal Plane, it is blessed to be able to touch ghosts even if they are immaterial. Advanced: Medium III: (Upgrade of Medium II) With this upgrade a character can now attempt to converse with these beings. The apparitions you see are now no longer a silent film. This does include all of the before mentioned categories: Ghosts, Spirits, and Deities. Whether they take the time to talk to the Medium is up to their personalities. Exorcism II: (Exorcism I) The ability to forcefully eject a ghost from a person. Obviously, this takes more experience and care. How fatigued your character is afterward is up to the years of practice they have. You are capable of creating a non-physical seal that will protect the person, animal or object from future possession for up to one month.
