Ok so at first glance for anybody, Lelianna probably looked like a compulsive buyer. Not to mention her lack of regular presence within Haven itself made her look like a random compulsive buyer. So all things considered this could very well be a lot of people's first glances of the tall redheaded magi. However the only people she was meaning to deal with that day did in fact remember her decently well. Mainly because she bought them out of every single seed they had to give her with a look of absolutely glee on her face.
To be honest it was kind of funny to see her getting so excited about, of all things, seeds.
But excited she was! Ever since her hermitude, she'd gotten good at mixing some plants together to make some herbal remedies and such. And given the fact her garden was a massive (and still growing if Lelianna had anything to say about it) growing mess, she could make quite a bit by trading with Haven the few times she showed up (typically for seeds and so she could actually interact with people). Herbalism and alchemy for the win. Either way, at the end of it all Lelianna successfully managed to get quite a large number of bags separating a number of different plant types' seeds. The look on her face was absolutely beaming despite the fact she had so much to carry it was getting a little hard to carry everything easily. "Thank you so, so ,so much! These are perfect!" As she cooed the words, she barely restrained herself from nuzzling the abundance of seed packets she held in her arms.
"Um, yes you're very welcome. B-but ah are you sure you can carry...?" The particular stall tender in question trailed off her question. Clearly she could foresee the inevitable issue Lelianna would face transporting all her purchases by herself.
"Huh? Oh no no! I'm ok, really!" Lelianna assured her with a smile. She was still riding high on her giddiness (seriously it's just seeds!) at the moment to really care much on the how. She got exactly what she wanted, so that was that. "Thank you again! These'll make excellent additions." With that and a final, cheery head bob, Lelianna started heading off. The poor stall tender took a step forward to stop her, but paused and ended up just shaking her head.
Silly little hippie.
Unfortunately for her though, the stall tender ended up being right. Lelianna was having a bit of difficulty handling everything in her arms. When one bag fell to the ground, she had a momentary heart attack. Fortunately the bags holding her precious cargo were strong. The downside was her hands were full, so picking this up was going to be...interesting to say the least.

As a habitual observer of the goings-on in Haven, Nobu prided himself in being able to recognize the majority of the magi living there, even if he wasn’t necessarily acquainted with them all. But even if he could not place names or very much personal information, he had become familiar with the habits of many. This aging earth magi left home at eight in the morning every day for a leisurely walk through the city. Those twin girls trotted along after their mother on the way to Arithelia’s temple every weekend. And the antlered woman with the long, fiery hair and arms overflowing with bags… Was new. Somewhat surprised, the lion fish magi paused in his wandering to watch her. Whatever she was carrying, she seemed quite happy with her acquisition. The vendor at her back, on the other hand, seemed more concerned than anything else. Given the sheer number of items the antlered stranger was trying to manage, it seemed she might have good reason to be. Not long after he came to this conclusion, Nobu found he was right to think so. A bag tumbled from the redhead’s arms— not quite the avalanche it could have been, but enough apparently to bring an amusing, panicked look to her face. Smirking faintly, he watched her consider her dilemma for a moment or so before starting forward. There was an opportunity to be had here, after all. “You seem like you could use some help,” he said as he drew close, putting on a charming smile. Stooping, he retrieved the dropped bag from the ground, and nodded to the ones still in the woman’s arms. “Unless of course your intent was to play a balancing game all the way home…?”Lelianna Varna

Great, how was she going to go about this? Lelianna glared down at the fallen bag as if it had personally insulted her. She didn't want to put down all the other bags because that would only take longer to get everything into her arms again. Maybe she could slip a few more into her satchel, or maybe she could ask someone nearby for help. She was just about to when someone apparently beat her to the punch. Letting out a little yelp of momentary surprise, blood soon rushed to her cheeks.
"Oh! A-ah...Y-yes I could use some..." She trailed off when he retrieved the fallen package of seeds from the ground. Then he seemed to be making...and offer? Lelianna blinked blankly for a moment. Then her gaze dropped to the burden in her arms. Yeeeeaaahhhh....Maybe she could use some help. But still, her home was a bit of a distance from Haven. She wouldn't want to drag this kind stranger off that far. "W-Well I um....I guess I sorta did didn't I?" Even though she said it in a mumble, at least she acknowledged it. Hey, she had been excited! That didn't always lead to the best laid planned after all. "Um...Are you....Offering to help?" She asked hesitantly, just to be sure. For all Lelianna knew, she could be assuming things.
And you know what they say about assuming.
"That's...That's really sweet of you." She flashed him a kind smile, but then grimaced. But um....I kinda live a bit far from Haven. Out in the woods actually." She explained. Which...Actually sounded a little strange and sad. Once again Lelianna felt her cheeks burn. "I-I swear it's actually pretty nice out there!" Not like there were wild animals like bears or something out there...
...Oh wait...

Although he wanted to grin, Nobu only allowed himself the same small smile on seeing the redness rising to the woman’s cheeks. The stuttering, cutely awkward, only worsened the urge, but somehow he managed. Nodding once, he waited patiently while she worked her way through an answer. “I see,” he half chuckled when she finished. “Seems a bit tiresome, but to each their own I suppose…”
At the question, the lion fish magi tilted his head to consider, and let out a thoughtful hum. Strictly speaking, he thought, he had made an offer to assist, yes. An indirect one, and certainly not purely out of the goodness of his heart, but still an offer. So, he nodded again and replied, “Yes, I suppose I am.” There, now. Contact established and seen to continuation.
While the redhead went on to explain more about her little predicament, Nobu merely blinked. All told, it was a bit surprising that she did not live within the boundaries of the city, but he couldn’t quite fathom why she seemed so embarrassed by the fact. It wasn’t as though she seemed to have much to hide. Perhaps it was just the way she was…
After a moment, finding himself mostly indifferent to the issue, he shrugged. “So much the better to help you then, hm? I imagine you would rather your trip home didn’t take days to finish.” Stepping forward, Nobu moved to relieve his new acquaintance of more of her burden. “Here. You lead, I’ll follow.”

Oh wow, he was actually offering to help. Still, Lelianna felt a little hesitant. She was wandering out into the woods. The journey was going to be a decent distance and if this man was from Haven (I mean why else would he be here?) than he'd have to walk all the way back. So Lelianna fumbled through her words to try and convince him she would be alright on her own and he needn't join her.
As usual though, she was pretty terrible at the actual "communicating" part.
He only shrugged and insisted on aiding her. Even going so far as to take some of her burden in his own arms! Lelianna blushed even harder, embarrassed but truthfully thankful. It was such a contrast to how much weight she'd originally been carrying! She would have tired out pretty quickly on her own for sure. "Oh! Um....W-well alright. It's this way." She said, leading the way out of Haven and walking into the treeline. She took a few steps before figuring it would probably be a polite thing to keep up conversation. A journey in silence would be awkward as hell.
Gods, did she even learn this man's name!?
"Ah, my name's Lelianna by the way." She said quickly. "I kinda forgot to, ah, tell you that..." She trailed off a little on that confession, but soon snapped back to it. "What's yours? Sorry I didn't ask earlier; you're helping me and I didn't even bother to learn that first."
Yep, definitely excelling in the social domain, our little hippie child.

The woman was getting rather red in the face now, wasn’t she? With no small amount of amusement, Nobu pondered just how long it would take until the hue of her cheeks matched her hair. Fortunately, he managed not to smile too much at her expense as they started off— a task made easier as he followed a short distance behind her. After a while, though, when he felt he was better able to behave himself, he did speed up to walk at the other magi’s side. He shot Lelianna a sideways glance as she introduced herself, and put on a fresh smile for her. “It is no issue,” the water magi assured her gently, waving off the matter with one hand. Such a nervous thing she was… An effect of living in isolation, perhaps? She had mentioned she lived quite far from Haven, which probably meant she was quite unused to social interaction. Unless of course she had a family out there, too, but somehow this one just didn’t seem the type. “My name is Nobu. It is a pleasure to meet you, Lelianna.” The lion fish magi spent a few moments in silence after that, eyeing their surroundings and the path he was being led along so he wouldn’t have a hard time returning to the city later. “I’ll admit I’m curious,” he started after a while, returning his attention to his companion. “Why do you live so far away from Haven? Not very social?” That hardly seemed like the only reason, if it even was one at all, but he was sure he would have his answers soon. Lelianna Varna

Yeah Lelianna was doing great so far. Totally not making an absolute fool of herself. No, not at allllllll. While Lelianna mentally slapped herself on the forehead, she was a little glad he stayed behind her for a bit. It helped her collect her thoughts and hopefully stop herself from becoming even more of a rambling mess than she already was. By the time he joined her side-by-side, the color had moderately left her cheeks and she didn't feel quite so silly. She even managed to give Nobu a smile when he introduced himself. "it's a pleasure to meet you too. T-thanks again though, really."
After that they feel into a bout of silence. It was....a little awkward maybe, but that was probably just Lelianna. Considering she never really got used to actually, y'know, interacting with others. Fortunately she felt that familiar hum in the back of her head once they were actually in the thick of the forest. Clearly Arecia was watching her now. While she didn't know if she should be happy or worried about that, the familiarity was calming at the very least.
So she didn't leap ten feet into the air when Nobu spoke up out of the blue. She only flinched a little from not expecting it. "Oh! Well, ah, I..." Great now the color was coming back to her cheeks. "I-I'm not unsocial!" She protested a little. "I just...I've lived here for a long time, and I work with the forest soooooo....." She trailed off before giving Nobu a sheepish shrug. "IIIIIIII guess I just got used to it? Well, and honestly it feels like....home." More than home. She was drawn to Arecia Woods, that was no joke. There was just something.....special about it. She quite frankly did not want to leave any time soon. "A-And it's not that far." Said the girl leading them both on a trek through the woods just to reach her house. "Ah, but what about you? Why did you decide to live in Haven?" It would be fair to ask that question right?

Since Lelianna seemed so insistent on thanking him, the lion fish magi bowed his head as graciously as he could manage. “You are welcome,” Nobu answered her, still wearing his charming smile. “Thank you for allowing me along. I do enjoy meeting new people.” Only half hoping that would send her back into a stuttering mess— the sight was rather amusing, after all— he allowed the silence that followed to linger for a while. To a degree, it seemed to help. Her posture relaxed, and the color in her cheeks had mostly gone back to normal by the end of it. All seemed well… until their conversation picked up again, at which point the woman’s previous nervousness seemed to make a return. Nobu’s smile wavered, just a little, at the end of her answer. “Home, hm?” That, he could understand. “As good a reason as any to stay, hm? It is quite beautiful out here…”There was one thing, though, that the water magi hadn’t quite been able to wrap his head around, so shortly after, he asked, “What do you mean “work with the forest”?” Although the phrase itself sounded almost familiar, as he himself could be said to work with the rivers and lakes when he fished, in Lelianna’s case he couldn’t quite picture her meaning. After she had answered that, Nobu would move on to providing a response of his own. “There are few other places for Magi to live safely in such numbers,” he shrugged, careful to keep any bitterness or ire from his tone. “And I enjoy living among others— people are interesting to me.”Lelianna Varna

365 wordsNobu Charming fish boi
► Well he certainly is charming isn't he? Thankfully Lelianna was horrifically dense, so the "charming" aspect of his smile was lost on her. Instead he simply seemed kind, and Lelianna smiled back at him warmly. Though she did have a bit of color still on her cheeks. "I enjoy meeting new people too. Though, ah, living out in the woods makes it hard I suppose...." Yeah probably not the best place for her to live if making friends had been her goal.
Though the circumstances that got her there hadn't exactly given her much of a choice.
Though she had gotten a little nervous again when they started speaking, talking about the forest did help her relax a little. Because it was beautiful, and it was nice to hear someone say that and appear to actually mean it. So she was a little ok to answer the question nearly everyone she'd talked to so far had been asking her. "Oh! Well I, ah, just go where the forest tells me to when it needs help with something." She explained, hoping she was doing a better job then when she'd explained this the first time to that wolf magi (who she still wasn't entirely certain wasn't a pervert). "The forest sort of...talks to me, though it doesn't really use words. It's more of a feeling really, and then it guides me to wherever it wants me to go to help it." Hopefully that would prove a sufficient answer for Nobu. It was probably the best Lelianna had done to explain so far.
Ah yes right, magi weren't exactly well loved outside of Arecia. Lelianna didn't hear any anger or bitterness in Nobu's voice though, so it didn't create much of a tense atmosphere. "I do like everyone in Haven; you're all so nice whenever I happen to visit there." Even if she wasn't officially part of the town, a lot of the people there treated her just as well as though she were. It brought a warm, happy smile to her face. "Even if I'm not really part of it, it's always been lovely going there."

Well, at least he had gotten her to smile, in spite of whatever remaining nerves she had with the situation. That was something, wasn’t it? Nobu carefully maintained his own while she answered him, nodding along once she had finished. “I would imagine so, yes.” And if she went into the city as infrequently as it sounded, meeting people would only be that much more difficult for her. Briefly, he entertained the notion of whether she would meet anyone at all, otherwise, but soon found his thoughts directed elsewhere. Lelianna’s explanation of what she did was a strange one, admittedly, and it took some time for the lion fish magi to wrap his head around it entirely. The forest “talked” to her, she’d said, and told here where to go and when. How odd. Perhaps the local spirits had chosen to favor her, for some reason, or her magic put her extremely in tune with her environment. If he thought she might know, Nobu would have asked, but at the moment it seemed to him that even the earth magi only had a vague sense of why she interacted with the forest the way she did. In response, he simply told her, “I see… you have a fascinating gift, you know. I’ve not heard of such a thing before, even from other earth magi.”He flashed her another smile, the fins on his back flicking absently. “It is not difficult to find a sense of community there, no,” Nobu observed, for once perfectly sincere. “And it does us well to treat one of our own kindly, yes?” Lelianna Varna(ooc: Think they’ll be arriving soon?)

353 wordsNobu welcome to the garden ► Yeah judging by Nobu's expression she hadn't done the best job explaining what her connection to Arecia was. Now to her credit, she didn't really know how to describe it. Mainly because she didn't fully understand it herself. It had just...happened one day. She wasn't exactly sure when the forest had opened up communication with her. It had been so subtle, she couldn't pin down an exact date to say "oh here's when I could 'feel' the woods around me." That would've been far too easy.
Blushing a little bit at the compliment, Lelianna could only shrug. "I....It's.....I'm sure there are others who could, ah, do it." Surely she wasn't the only one Arecia sought out to communicate with, right? She wasn't that special. There were so many magi out there, there had to be someone else that could manage something as odd as this.
Nodding with a smile, Lelianna could easily agree with him. Though she also liked to treat others well too, though it was rare for her to ever meet anyone but magi out in Arecia. Came with being a hermit, she supposed. Anywho, the rest of the journey (whether or not they made more small talk) went by pretty fast. Lelianna was keeping up a brisk pace in order to reach her home. Though before they found that, they came upon her garden. She was extremely familiar with it, and it was easy to see the signs of when it began. Suddenly the forest became thick with a plethora of different plants. The moment Lelianna was within its perimeter, she relaxed. Her posture became better and her walk easier. She always felt a lot better in here.
"It's just up ahead!" She said cheerfully. Soon enough her home would come into view: a cabin that had basically been taken over by nature once again. with trees growing around and into it. It was a lovely home though; even if the front doorway almost always hit her antlers. "Thank you for helping me carry everything."

It was not hard to tell they were wandering into a new place in the forest, even if he wasn’t quite as familiar with plants as Lelianna seemed to be. Scatterings of undergrowth gradually gave way to lush patches of herbs and flowering plants spread out beneath the trees— a garden, Nobu guessed, albeit a somewhat haphazard one. There was a change in his companion too, he noticed, as they walked into the area. The stiffness in her posture all but vanished, and the smile on her face lost any remaining traces of discomfort. Even more than the rest of Arecia, this was quite clearly the earth magi’s home territory. Then, ahead of them, a cabin appeared, almost hidden beneath the greenery growing on and around it. If Lelianna hadn’t been there with him to tell otherwise, he might have assumed the place was long abandoned at first glance. It was a bit easier to see that the place was well lived-in on closer inspection, though, as Nobu followed her toward the door. “You are very welcome,” he replied, flashing the antlered magi a grin. “Thank you for allowing me along.” For once in his life, he was perfectly sincere. Though a little awkward at first, their journey had been pleasant overall, and the destination was rather marvelous to observe. Even if he wasn’t quite ready to take up the mantle of a hermit himself, he was beginning to see why Lelianna might like it out here, given all that she had grown for herself. “Where shall we put these?” he added a moment later, nodding to the bags of seed still in his arms. 448 wordsNobu Can I pay you in fruit? ► Oh right they were carrying things! "Oh, right inside!" Lelianna answered. Nobu had been so kind to help her carry everything this far; she should hurry up and let him put everything down! leading the way the hermit headed into her cabin (making sure to duck and not let her antlers hit off her doorframe while a guest was present).
Much like the outside there was evidence of nature reclaiming the wood used to create the original cabin. Lelianna didn't have much need to decorate since Arecia had essentially done it for her. Bits of living wood had invaded the cabin's structure, and in one spot a fully grown tree had actually grown up and broken through one of the walls and the building's ceiling. However its thick trunk made up for the missing bit of wall, morphing its growth to fill in the blanks. It's foliage did the same, with the hole in the ceiling getting replaced by a thick tangle of branches and leaves. Speaking of branches, they ran through the cabin along with ivy and moss. Here though showed some signs of the earth magi possibly tampering. Much of the living vegetation and wood along the walls had been fashioned into naturally grown shelves; no doubt shaped by the redhead currently placing her haul of seeds down on a nearby table.
"You could place those right here." Lelianna said with a gesture to the table. However her eyes only flickered over Nobu as they moved on to search up high in the branches crisscrossing around the ceiling. Thank the gods whomever had made the cabin had made it pretty tall! Finally green eyes settled on what she was looking for. Lelianna brightened and walked over to a certain branch. "Stewart! There you are!"
As she reached up, the redhead gently pulled a tiny sloth off the branch she'd approached. The little critter had turned its head to her when she called out. When she tried to grab it, it willingly let her pull it away from it's previous perch. Now instead it gradually wrapped its arms around Lelianna's shoulders as she walked back to Nobu. The smile she gave the sloth was full of fondness as she held it. Soon enough that gaze moved up Nobu.
"Thank you again, really. That probably would've taken, ah...far longer if it was just me." Even she could confess that, if a little sheepishly. "I need to give you something in return though! That was such a kind thing for you to do, helping me." Already she was looking around with a slightly focused frown on her face. Surely she could find something of value for the nice man.

Hefting his portion of Lelianna’s hoard of seeds, the lion fish magi followed her inside dutifully. Much like the exterior, the interior of the cabin was covered in plant life, and smelled just as earthy and fragrant as the garden. Ocean-blue eyes trailed over tree bark, ivy, and moss with clear curiosity. It made him wonder just how much of the place his companion had grown herself, and how much had already been there whenever she’d settled in. As instructed, Nobu moved to the table to deposit the bags he carried, paying little heed to what the earth magi was doing until she called out. Glancing up, he blinked after her as she strode across the cabin floor. Who on earth was Stewart? His eyes narrowed, and if it hadn’t been for the movement of the little thing’s head, he might have missed its presence entirely until Lelianna picked it up. Apparently, Stewart was a sloth. An uncommon creature, as pets went, but oddly enough he seemed to suit her. “I wonder if we should start making a tally,” the water magi teased as he was thanked once again. “You seem rather fond of that phrase… But, again, you are welcome.” Now that his arms were free, Nobu offered her a short bow. “Oh, you really don’t have to worry about repaying me,” he tried to assure her, straightening up once more with a warm smile on his face. “The pleasure of your company was reward enough.” Lelianna Varna

615 wordsNobu You are friend now; there is no escape ► Stewart just glanced curiously at Nobu for a second before turning it's head slowly away again. It was more interested in the girl it was currently using as a perch. Lelianna, on the other hand, was actually paying attention to the other magi. Which ended up giving her another blush at his tease. Okay yes she kind of was thanking him a lot during this whole trip. But he'd been so helpful! She couldn't help it. Much like how she couldn't accept his response for a reward. Lelianna huffed a little, trying to wrack her brain. "No no, I'd feel awful if you came all this way..." She trailed off as her gaze once more swept through her house. Come on Lelianna! Think! What would be a good...Ah ha! Her eyes halted as she spotted her bag of seeds on the table. A lot of them had been flowers and the like, along with a number of other plants. Flowers! People like flowers right? "Oh! I know! Here, ah," She started backing up, Stewart still with her, as she went towards the door, "Please wait here for just a moment!" With that she ran out the door. She knew exactly what flower she wanted to grab for the helpful magi! Since she knew exactly what she was looking for, it didn't take all that long for Lelianna to find it. Soon enough considering where she had to go, she returned to her overgrown cabin. Not before hitting her antlers off the doorframe in her haste of course. "Ow! Jeez..." Came the grumble for a moment with a glare before she continued inwards. In her hand she carefully held a patch of dirt. And from within that patch of dirt sprung out a single, colorful rose. It was red and white in strips; one of the roses she'd managed to combine the colors of through some cross-breeding. It looked very healthy and bigger than a typical rose, though not enormous. Carefully she made her way over to one of the living sections of her walls. As she did Nobu could see that Stewart had been rearranging to now cling to her back sort of like a backpack. "Please, hold on just another moment!" The redhead requested over her shoulder. Then, to the living wood along her wall, she said: "Could you make me a small cup, please?" It took a second or two, but with Lelianna's power involved the wood stretched out and morphed until it had formed something of a makeshift cup she could put the flower in along with the dirt. After that she very carefully broke the piece off while murmuring her thanks to the wood and giving it an almost fond pat. Only after that did she walk over to Nobo and present the gift with a proud smile. "Here you go! I-I, ah, thought the colors matched you." Her voice was a little shy as she spoke. it was hard to miss Nobu's unique hair color, but truthfully it was nicely unique. Much like the flower she now extended to him to take. "I-It might not be much but, um...It's the least I can do. It'll grow into a bush if you plant it outside! T-The flowers will all match. Ah...just make sure to water it well and give it a good amount of sun, a-and it should do great!" She instructed. This wasn't a bad gift, right? She really couldn't think of anything else at the moment but she didn't want him leaving empty handed! "Tha-" She just barely caught herself. "I-I mean...I hope you like it."
