"PPFFTWHAAH!!" Was the ever eloquent sound that left Lelianna's mouth. Swiftly dropping back down in the water, she glanced over to the bushes where she'd heard a sudden noise. With a certain amount of dread she watched and finally there emerged...a deer. Which promptly made Lelianna sigh and drop all the tension in her body.
"Jeez...you scared me half to death!" She scolded towards the animal. The deer, being a deer, only stared at her for a moment before trotting away. Lelianna stared after it with a glare but there was no particular bite to it. It was only a deer after all. Something else must've spooked it, or it was only wandering to find somewhere to drink from. Fortunately there were a lot of other open areas along the Loch, so it should have easy pickings.
Meanwhile Lelianna got back to what she was doing: actually trying to wash out her clothes and self while she was at it. There would always be that sort of earthy look and whatnot to it, but she could always try right? At the very least she'd scrub out the worst stains.
Unfortunately right as she was getting back to business she heard another noise behind her. Body tensing, she wasn't exactly sure what she'd find. Surely another deer, right? Peeking behind her, Lelianna hoped dearly she'd be met with another horned critter. "Are you the one who-"
That definitely wasn't a critter though.
"WAAHAH!!" Now Lelianna practically flailed in the water to cover herself up. Of all times why did she have to meet someone else now?! "W-Who are you!? What are you doing here?!" She squeaked, staying mainly submerged with only her head really showing. "Can't a girl get some privacy?!" Which, according to the lovely water vegetation around her, perfectly spelled a cry for help. Lelianna was suddenly aware her friends the plants had formed some sort of makeshift cover for her. While appreciated, Lelianna was now basically stuck in the water. "AH! Not what I had in mind!"

There's FIRE Dancing in my veins tonight, do you see it in my eyes tonight? Taran was in her male form today. Instead of her usual sweater, she'd opted for a red sleeveless shirt, jeans, and a pair of sneakers with good grip to them. And a navy blue baseball cap to keep the sun out of her eyes. At least she didn't have the sun shining in her eyes while she was lost, right? Stupid forest. Taran had asked directions from a magi friend, but it was NOT simple to get to Arecia Woods and even less easy to find the temple. She thought she'd probably gone off track, and she looked down at her map with a sigh, still walking. Well, she should have been looking where she was going because soon enough she was sputtering from walking into a spiderweb.
"FRIG! BLEH!" Once Taran got it off she looked around. As if she hadn't been lost enough, sputtering into the spiderweb had led her off the dirt path quite a ways. She sighed. She was lost. Well she looked around. What had her teachers always told her? Find water and follow it. She listened carefully. Unfortunately a trait she hadn't gotten was a wolf's hearing. Or even smell. Both of those would've been far more helpful in this situation. That said, she could still hear water of some sort and so Taran walked in that direction. She was about to whoop after finding the lake when she registered someone there. And then registered that they were naked with plants rushing towards them. And they were yelling at her. The shouting snapped her from the bit of staring Taran was doing. In her defense, it wasn't every day that you stumbled across someone who could use plants as clothing in a pinch. She closed her eyes as quickly as she could.
"Of all the friggin' ways I could get lost in the forest, it had to be the place with a naked chick!" The tone of the voice was rather miffed, actually. Not that the woman wasn't attractive, but it really wasn't the best time for Taran. Then it occurred to her. As far as this person was concerned, she was a pervy guy. Her fluffy black tail, freed because of being in the woods, drooped at the thought. Then it started wagging. Perhaps this person had more clue where she was going!
"Maybe I could get directions from you though...." Taran didn't realize that she was kind of pushing her luck doing that. She acted on whatever thought occurred to her. And her tail was wagging quite happily as a result.

So it ended up being some random man Lelianna had never seen before (then again Lelianna hasn't really seen many of anyone before). To his credit, he did end up shutting his eyes and looking away. That and he didn't seem like he'd done this on purpose. However Lelianna wasn't really paying all that much attention. Her brain only registered the fact that someone had walking in on her bathing. What was her reaction?
Instinctively grabbing at her staff nearby and javelin tossing it towards the man's head of course.
That was before the plant decided to serve as her clothes and keep her in place. Seeing as she couldn't really move much, it served as the perfect thing to keep her in place and help her calm down. Only then did she realize the man had actually shut his eyes (not before staring for a bit, Lelianna had noticed that). Maybe javelin tossing her staff at his head was a bad idea.
"L-Look I'm sorry I- is that a tail?" Indeed there was a big fluffy tail wagging from behind this guy. Looks like another Magi had unintentionally run into her. Or maybe intentionally? Was this person from Haven? Wait, had someone intentionally sent someone to Lelianna from Haven? Now she was all manners of embarassed (which she already was enough of). "Are you from Haven?! Oh jeez...." Lelianna sunk a little further in the water and eyed the clothes she had nearby. "Um.....Could you just...give me a minute or two to get some clothes on?" Perferably ones that weren't made from pure living plant life.

There's FIRE Dancing in my veins tonight, do you see it in my eyes tonight? Taran's eyes may have been closed, but that didn't mean she wasn't aware of what was going on to a certain extent. She heard a whooshing sound and she wasn't sure which way to go so she ducked like crazy. She felt something go through her thick hair and Taran gulped. Good decision apparently. Good guess. "Can you like....NOT ATTACK ME?" Taran turned around and opened her eyes and she saw the staff.
"NO KILLING ME!" Then the woman noticed the tail and Taran's first reaction was to reach for her tail, but then she realized she didn't have to stuff it in the pants since the person she was talking to was literally covered in plants. Obviously an earth magi. She spoke about Haven and Taran was about to correct her when reason kicked in and Taran shut her mouth. If this person who javelin threw a staff at her thought she was a friend from Haven, who was she to disagree? Especially while the other person was still naked. She stayed turned around.
"Yes I too would rather you put clothes on. Not that your figure isn't nice but...this is a rather uncomfortable atmosphere." She cleared her throat before continuing.
"So you're an earth magi I'm assuming. I'm...not from Haven. I'm just very, very lost. I am quickly discovering that in the forest I have very poor navigational skills. I was actually sort of hoping you could help me, even though I just made an awful first impression." Taran didn't know whether the woman's first impression was good or bad. She supposed it depended on one's outlook.

Oh hey look at that, he could duck. At least Lelianna didn't feel quite as bad now that she actually hadn't hit him. Although now Taran had open his eyes again and turned to her, and there was the instinctual wish for something else to throw. "Could you CLOSE YOUR EYES THEN?!" Lelianna said hotly, mostly embarrassed. Although one point stuck with her, and she frowned. "I'm not going to kill you! Jeez..." She was a pacifist for pete's sake (not that Taran would know that).
When Taran turned around again, Lelianna started working on getting out of her friendly plant's grasp. A heavy blush had settled on her face, and what Taran was saying didn't help it at all. It only cemented the fact that yes, he had seen her. Maybe she wouldn't have felt so bad if the staff had hit him... "No kidding..." she grumbled, finally detangling herself enough to slip out of the water. Thank the gods she'd brought extra dry, mostly clean clothes. Who wanted to walk around in wet ones in this weather?
So by the time Lelianna had wiggled her way into her thick clothes, she'd discovered that Taran was in fact not from Haven and very, very lost. At least Lelianna wouldn't have to deal with the awkwardness if he'd been a Haven resident she may run into again during one of her rare visits to the town. "So long as you don't make it a habit of meeting people this way..." Lelianna mumbled a bit. But lost was lost, and Lelianna could at least have some sympathy for that.
Even if the person in question had seen her in a particularly...vulnerable state.
"Well...I guess that depends on what you're looking for." Now fully dressed, Lelianna walked past Taran to retrieve her staff. It was also a wordless way of saying "look I'm dressed now." With the familiar hard staff in hand, she turned towards her "guest" apparently. "Where do you want to go?"

There's FIRE Dancing in my veins tonight, do you see it in my eyes tonight? The earth magi walked past her to retrieve the staff. It occurred to Taran that so far the magi friends she'd made in Ethea were earth magi. Not that she was friends with this chick. But...well it was odd she seemed to meet earth magi. She sighed in relief that the woman was dressed.
"I was told by a....friend...no that word's not quite right." She struggled in silence for a moment, looking for the proper word.
"A downright ornery magi man. Yes that describes him perfectly. Anyways, he basically told me that there was a temple to Arithelia in these woods. And so I came looking. But I have a feeling that the forest has seen I'm a fire magi and wants to play tricks on me." She shrugged.
"Also not that it really excuses anything, but I'm not some pervy guy wanting to peek at a girl...I'm...I'm not always a guy." Well that was lovely and awkward.
"I'm an ambiguity magi. So I guess...what I'm getting at is it isn't something I haven't seen before?" Then she hit her forehead with the palm of her hand and grumbled to herself.
"Goddess, that doesn't sound any better. I need to just shut up and get directions." Then her mind lit upon a joke.
"I can't be a complete guy I'm asking for directions, am I right?" She grinned, her slightly longer canines on display. And her tail wagging again. She looked back at it and arched an eyebrow. So much for hiding any emotions. Her tail wagging paired with a grin tended to make her look like a lovable wolf pup. Not that Taran was aware that those exact movements did that. But the last time her tail had escaped to wag, she'd been patted on the head so that was something.
"Oh. Right. I haven't introduced myself. I'm Taran. That would've made a far better first impression I suppose. Not that I'm worried about that considering you hurled a friggin' javelin at my head." Taran squinted in a glare at the earth magi. Her nervousness made her take the metal lighter from her pocket. She danced it across her knuckles idly, not opening it. She wasn't stupid she was in the middle of a forest.

A downright ornery mage. Now that was a peculiar way to describe someone. It was strange enough that Lelianna had to glance back at Taran with a slightly questioning, slightly amused look. She stood up a little straighter at the mention of Arithelia's temple. She did indeed know about that place. I mean, how could she not? It wasn't like she had much else to do but stumble around in the woods (I'm kidding I swear).
"Trust me, I'm an earth magi and the forest likes playing tricks on me too." Lelianna said with a wry smile. "Doesn't help that it's basically my next tree neighbor. Or....technically my house..." A few seconds passed while Lelianna considered this minor revelation. But it was minor and she had a weird pervert dog man talking to her.
Although apparently they weren't always a man.
And apparently they could be just as terrible at stringing words together as Lelianna herself was! Gotta hand it to them, that's impressive.
They were pretty good with jokes though. Even Lelianna felt the corner of her lips curl up a bit at that one. "I...I guess so." She's never met an ambiguity magi before, so really she didn't have anything else to go off of. Whatever the case, Lelianna got distracted by the wagging tail. Which was adorable somehow. She'd seen canines before so clearly somebody was happy. Or excited? Heavens to Betsy knows why.
"You walked in on me bathing!" Lelianna instantly protested, a blush and a glare coming to her simultaneously. "Besides, I missed. Though I don't know if that makes me happy or not now..." She grumbled low and under her breath to herself. Right after that she took a breath and stood up a little straighter. "Well it's....been...not the greatest of circumstances to meet you, Taran, but my name is Lelianna." She introduced herself with a little nod. "If you're really looking for the temple, I'm afraid you're not heading the right way."

There's FIRE Dancing in my veins tonight, do you see it in my eyes tonight? So the forest still played tricks on its earth magi.
"Yeah but they still had your back when you were in trouble, ready to be clothing. I highly doubt they would've done that for a fire magi. From my point of view it looks like they might just be teasing you like a friend would." Taran shrugged. That's how it looked to her anyway. Then Taran saw the lip curl up slightly. Yeeeeaaah she'd almost make the woman smile with that one. Score. Maybe her first impression would be able to be salvaged after all. Possibly. Taran wasn't going to put it down to finished just yet. Then she heard the woman's protests to the javelin claim.
"Yeah thank goddess you're a bad shot!" Taran put a hand to her neck and widened her eyes dramatically.
"Watch out magi, never mind the hunters watch out for the crazy magi with the javelin skills!" She gave a small chuckle.
"Regardless of what I did, you almost gave me a haircut. I'd rather not lose the top of my head thanks..." Then the woman introduced herself and said what Taran had feared: she hadn't been heading the right way.
"I thought so. I got turned around. Probably due to me walking into that spiderweb a ways back. Nasty things those are. Besides which, I'm not really used to navigating in forests...give me a city and I'll be able to find my way around pretty good. A forest...no can do. I'm fairly useless."

Lelianna opened her mouth to reply, but then paused. Taran...did have a point. And if she was being honest, she enjoyed the attention the forest gave her. it was like having a friend. Maybe a younger-yet-older misbehaving friend, but a friend nonetheless. Sighing, the earth magi couldn't find it in herself to fight the rueful smile from her face. "You....may have a point there. We've definitely been keeping each other company for long enough." Eight whole years in fact. Or was it nine now? To be perfectly honest Lelianna had stopped keeping track a few years ago. Really the only passing of time she paid attention to was whether it was night or day, or what season she was in. maybe the forest's own timelessness was starting to rub off on her own perception of it.
Speaking of which, back to the present. Because Lelianna was pretty (sort of) sure she was being teased.
Her face once more flushed, but instead of responded she just glared at Taran. How was she supposed to react!? Stand up calmly and ask what she was doing there? ....Actually that did sound a little better, but Lelianna was far from perfect. So sue her. "Razzafrazzamurmurmrmr..." Came the low muttering as she turned her head for a moment. She'd even debated if she would tell Taran her name or not. Might serve him right in a petty sort of way. Buuuut she decided it was fair enough. besides she would only last so long being called "girl" or "magi" (especially when they both were the latter. And...technically the former? Ambiguity magi, sheesh).
"A city?" It was the one piece of information that really managed to grab Lelianna's attention. It had been a long, long time since Lelianna had ever stepped foot in a city. Not like Haven but a real big city. At least, that's what she was assuming Taran had meant by the term. "wait, where are you from. It's been....It's been a long while since I've seen anyone from one of the cities all the way out here."

There's FIRE Dancing in my veins tonight, do you see it in my eyes tonight? The way the woman spoke about the forest was certainly like talking about an old friend. Taran thought her assumption was probably correct. She figured that this magi had been in the forest awhile. Perhaps one of those 'forest forever' types. Not that Taran blamed them. Arecia Woods was beautiful, and safe for the most part. A safe haven in Ethea. She heard Lelianna grumble to herself at Taran's joking and Taran's mouth quirked up into a lopsided grin. The person then questioned her mentioning of a city, and where Taran was from.
"Well we already established I'm not from Haven." Taran chuckled slightly before continuing to speak.
"I've been from all over really. Born in Ikigai even. But the city I'm talking about, the one where I live and work? That'd be Dagos City. I'm not stupid enough to hang around Felici with a wolf tail in my pants." She laughed fairly heartily.
"I'm assuming you mostly just go to Haven huh? You don't really seem like the city sort of person, if you'll pardon me saying." Maybe a hermit? A craftswoman?
"It works out that I live in the city because what I do for work is fixing vehicles and bionics. Forest living wouldn't work well. Not enough customers. Although I can see the appeal. It is a very beautiful place. Mind if I ask what you do for a living out here? You're a ways away from anything, really. So it kind of made me curious." She wore a friendly smile on her face.

Ikigai? Had Lelianna heard that name before? Probably not, being the non-knowledgeable hermit that she is. Dagos City, however, even she knew about. Felici as well, so she could understand Taran's comment about having a tail (even if the wording was...interesting). It was honestly pretty cool to meet someone from the city. Lelianna couldn't remember the last time that had happened (as if she regularly got visits anyways).
"No, you're right about that. Haven's within the forest and I....Well I can't really leave it." After all her years living in the forest it just felt so much like....home. If Lelianna left it now it would just feel so alien. She'd gotten used to the constant presence of Arecia woods. "Anyways, the Temple's over this way. I can take you there since my house is on the way. At least then you might not walk in on anyone else naked." She shot back with a bit of a raised eyebrow. See? Lelianna could do it too (she totally can't). Once that had been stated, Lelianna picked up the rest of her mostly dried clothes and headed off in that direction. Her home was sort of on the way. She could pop in and drop her laundry off. She gave a little glance back at Taran just to see if she was following before paying attention again.
During that time, it looked like Lelianna would have some company. Despite their rather rocky start, she actually perked up a bit at chatting with someone else. She really was pathetically starved for human interaction sometimes, I swear. "Oh it's soooo beautiful out here." Lelianna assured her with a now beaming smile. This sort of topic was definitely her forte. "When it's spring time and all the flowers get to bloom and the woods truly wake up; gods it's so gorgeous. All the vegetation gets to come back to life and start anew." She said with a wistful sigh. "A-And then there's the summertime too. You'd be amazed at how active the woods really can get around that time. Not to mention colorful! Fall can be like that too, with all those reds and oranges...Even winter has it's beauty, cold as it is..." Little did Lelianna realize she went off on a bit of a ramble and now currently gazed off into the distant scenery with a longing and tiny smile on her face. Even her hair had responded, tiny flowers starting to bloom from some of the strands in response to her excitement. Until she realized Taran had actually asked a question and she's totally forgotten.
"Oh! B-but um...Well I take care of the forest." She explained. Jeez was she really that bad she just went off like that. Now her cheeks were pink again. Wonderful. "Ah...make sure the trees are healthy and transition between seasons; replant new vegetation in areas it might've died or gotten torn up by any number of things; monitor and eliminate diseases when I can so they don't spread..." Ticking off each point on her finger helped take her mind off her own embarrassment. At the end of it she shrugged. "It's a lot of work but....I love it. nature does most of the work but I just...y'know, help it along I guess."

There's FIRE Dancing in my veins tonight, do you see it in my eyes tonight? She couldn't leave the forest?
"Wait you don't like have a house arrest, only with the forest right? You could leave if you wanted to, right? You aren't literally tied down?" Taran was curious. Like she could understand the earth magi not wanting to leave, but the wording was odd. Taran was glad Lelianna didn't mind bringing her to the temple. She'd have doubtlessly gotten lost again had she been left to her own devices in the forest.
"Thank you for that. Although I doubt anyone would be as relaxed in the forest as yourself, taking a bath." Taran rolled her eyes. She couldn't help but let her sass out sometimes. When the earth magi started getting excited and describing the beauty of the forest, Taran just smiled and watched. It was nice to see someone so passionate about something. Even if Taran couldn't understand the excitement about the forest, she could understand excitement itself so she knew how it felt. Wait did she just say 'take care of the forest'?
"Aren't forests sort of made to take care of themselves? Without like human or magi intervention? I mean as long as it isn't logged I think it's fine, right?" Taran arched a single eyebrow. Although she supposed some forests might get droughts and stuff and therefore need taking care of. But Taran knew that nature was pretty much self-sustaining. Didn't everyone learn that?
"I mean it isn't like crop rotation. Forests sustained themselves and took care of everything for millions of years without our help or intervention. Diseases are just a form of natural selection. I like your passion for what you're doing, but the trees seem to do fine on their own.

Here was a perfect example of how Lelianna knew what she wanted to say, yet the words she stringed together accidentally came off wrong. "Oh no no no no! No I'm not, like, a prisoner here or anything." She said quickly with a shake of her head. "Jeez I'm bad at this. No it's more like..." There was a pause as Lelianna actually tried to think about how she'd put this. "It's my home, and I just...Just really don't want to leave. I'm not trapped here, I-I mean I can leave at anytime but..." There was a little flash of memory that made Lelianna wince. She immediately clutched her staff a little tighter and averted her gaze from Taran for a second. "I don't really have fond memories from outside these woods." Lelianna finally answered quietly. That was all she'd say on the matter.
Because yet again she messed up her wording. This time she groaned and facepalmed. Would this whole "communicating" get easier with time or something? I mean here she was being lectured by someone from the city. On the forest.
"No, I know that. It's not like...I'm not like some babysitter or something." She tried to explain. "I know the forest is independent. That basically all of them would be. But this more...guides to me where I'm needed." Hopefully she was doing better this time. "I mean it doesn't, y'know, exactly talk to me. It just kinda, uh...kinda just nudges me? Or pushes me in the right direction and takes me to a problem it wants me to fix." Here Lelianna turned her head towards a tree and frowned for a moment. "Or slaps me on the ass, apparently." She grumbled under her breath. "But, ah, yeah. Usually it's basic stuff."

There's FIRE Dancing in my veins tonight, do you see it in my eyes tonight? "Well I thought I'd check. I figure you might not be a prisoner exactly, but I guess there's weirder things that have happened. Like house arrest, or forest arrest. Something like that might've happened." Taran shrugged.
"I guess I can understand reluctance to leave home, even if I've never experienced that reluctance myself. I wanted to leave home as early as possible...although I did have the reluctance to leave the Magi Training School where I learned to use my powers." Yes perhaps her school had become her home. She kept meaning to travel back there. Maybe she would once she learned more about her powers. Teaching was a definite possibility. Perhaps she could even secretly teach magi here in Ethea. Even though that was very risky, it might be worth the risk. Fire magi needed a pacifist teacher so that they could overcome being viewed as more likely to be terrorists. Taran believed in pacifism wholeheartedly. She heard Lelianna speak about not having good memories outside of the forest.
"I won't pry, but I think I sort of understand. I would probably feel similarly about Ikigai had I not spent time at the school there. My family life was not ideal." That was understating it, for sure. But she didn't want to scare her forest guide away with personal issues. Lelianna explained further about the forest and Taran's eyes lit up with understanding, and a smile.
"So you like making sure the forest gets everything it needs to be healthy. Just in case. You're like a caring friend, mothering. Making sure your friend is okay, right? I understand. Our connection to our element is like that I think. You with the forest, me with my flame. I like being able to feed my flame, making sure it is strong.

A Magi school? Now this was new. Lelianna looked over at taran with newfound curiosity. "A Magi school? Really?" With all the tension (and former hostility) towards magi in Ethea, Lelianna could hardly imagine a school for them to develop their magic being anywhere in this continent. "I'm guessing that's on...Ikigai? The only school I've ever heard about was one for some of the humans." She'd heard a few bits and pieces on the Runic school, but really the only knowledge Lelianna held was of it's existence. Nothing more really.
"I'm sorry to hear that about your family." It was said with a great deal of sincerity. Lelianna had mostly fond memories of her parents. In no way, shape, or form had they been perfect, but they were still good. They just....didn't make the greatest decisions was all. But Lelianna had long come to peace with their deaths. "At least you had the school though. I've never been to one." Honestly she wondered what it would be like. Most of what Lelianna had learned had been taught to her by her parents, herself, or the woods she currently resided in. She wasn't even done learning either. Arecia Woods had much more to tell her, in it's own unique way.
Looks like she managed to make sense this time! Lelianna practically beamed when Taran seemed to get it. "Yeah! Although I don't know if I'd be Arecia's mother or anything, but we're kind of like friends. I always feel better when I'm around them." With that she took another gaze out towards the woods, and this time she didn't glare playfully. She smiled, genuinely and warmly. It really had become her home after all those years, and she had a sneaking suspicion it always would be. "I haven't met that many Fire magi though, I'll admit. Especially not, well, out here. Fire and Trees ah...don't get along all that much from what I know."
