Today's job was apparently to look for a restaurant called Rosethorn Hall. Apparently there had been a hate crime that had occurred there, and he'd been sent to file a report on it. It was grunt work, for the most part. Samuel didn't object to that though. He knew that the job had to be done, and if it was a hate crime he'd much rather be the one looking into that. Anything with magi really. He was more likely to give any magi involved a fairer shake. In this case the magi likely wasn't here. Ah there was his destination. He looked at the door. A symbol for tolerance. Samuel liked this place already. He walked into the establishment and up to the bar.
"Hello I am here to look into a hate crime that occurred in this establishment not too long ago. Would there be someone available to discuss the topic? I understand it's rather distasteful, but someone filed a report and so I'm here to investigate what happened regardless." The cyborg had a tendency to talk fairly officially. Some had even mistaken him as an android before, for whatever reason. In reality, he was just a man who didn't know slang. The only physical trait he shared with androids was his one bionic hand. He sighed, sitting on one of the barstools to wait. There was no rule that said he couldn't be comfortable while he waited for someone, after all. He picked up the drink menu to peruse it while he waited. Samuel would never drink on the job, but if the alcohol looked interesting he may find himself coming back. Besides which, this was this last job of the day anyways.
It occurred to Samuel that his superiors may have sent him to a bar/restaurant as the last job of the day to try to make him relax. They were always teasing him about how he needed to 'lighten up'. An expression that apparently meant not taking things as seriously, rather than the meaning of turning on a lamp as Samuel had first assumed.

[PTabbedContent] [PTab=Post] Holy sweet mother Arithelia today was dead. Yuki was happy that he was finally getting bar shifts. Usually they are the highest earning position in the restaurant, since they will have their rail as well as being tipped out of every check that orders drinks. However today he wasn't making shit. He'll probably leave this shift with maybe 20 bucks in his pocket. Great. So Yuki did what he always did when he was bored at work, he got on his phone. keeping the settings to have holograms turned off, He checked his messages. Couple of messages from coworkers asking about swapping shifts, a particular one was asking for "benefits" to their friendship but Yuki had no idea what she meant by that. He typed up a quick "I cant get you a raise or more hours" and kept going. No reply from his friend Hosokawa who moved to dagos long ago. he quickly typed in a :P to bump up the conversation, maybe he forgot to respond; Yuki was always doing that. After responding to the ones he felt like responding to, he looked up at the restaurant to double check their status. Nada. Looks like it's Social media time. You would think that within the time since its boom the designers of these social media sites would find a way to fix "the scroll". You know it as the endless scrolling you have to go through to find something interesting. and after a good ten minutes of just endless scrolling and liking things, Yuki was about to give up when he heard the restaurant door open. He immediately pocketed his phone and went to the computer screen to look busy. Bar Bar Bar, Come one Come to the Bar Yuki repeated his prayer over and over, itching to make some money today. There was definitely a breath of relief when he heard the bar stool get a nice rump upon it. Yuki turned to the newcomer and gave his usual first-time-guest greeting. "Welcome to Rosethorn Hall. Interested in trying out our Specialty.." Yuki paused for a half second and looked at the person in front of him, Male, Uniform, okay. "Old Amber Ale?" the pause wasn't noticeable, only long enough for Yuki's eyes to glance up and down. Similar to how one can quickly size up an opponent. And every customer was an opponent, a foe in the game of "give me your money". Unfortunately as the guest spoke it was apparent that he wasn't here for pleasure. Apparently he was a police guy, he spoke about an incident that happened not too long ago. But... "What incident?" Yuki said with a tilt of his head. In all honesty he had no idea what incident he could possibly be talking about. But surely he must be forgetting something. "I'm the Owners' Son so I might be able to help without getting my parents from the office." Notes: Sorry for the wait! Was that just a nice turn of phrase, or perhaps this was a good place to get certain food. Samuel filed that information away with a slight smile.
"No amber ale for me. Not yet anyway. I'm still on the job." What incident? Samuel thought it was a rather bleak outlook when a question like that arose. There needed to be clarification, racism was so prevalent.
"Magi racism. Apparently a guy was in here saying such stuff and you kicked him out in short order. Well...he filed a report about violence against him and I think my superiors thought it would be funny to send me." The guy in the department who judged magi and humans fairly with little to no racism. According to the human man, he'd experienced unnecessary violence just because 'they couldn't handle the truth'. Well his superiors had made sure he knew that he was on his own for this one. Samuel preferred it that way. This way, he could hear the other side's account and then most likely file this under 'complaints that were investigated but never turned up anything of substance.' A file that only saw the light of day when another complaint was added. It was a job for a low ranking officer, but Samuel didn't mind. It was somewhat mindless, and he'd rather handle it himself than have someone more racist file the report.
"I just need to hear another account of what happened please." Being polite was always a good idea.
"Nice establishment your family's running too, I must say." See? He could be friendly!

[PTabbedContent] [PTab=Post]Yuki adjusted the super baggy sleeves of his Mythic-themed uniform, rolling them up past his elbows as the copper spoke. The uniform was annoying at times, but the medieval style gave him and all the female servers chances to show off their chests with the loose and low cut shirts. And While he didn’t get the whole “flirting” thing, he did know that girls tended to tip him higher the lower his collar was. “Hmmm…..” Yuki hummed, placing his hand below his chin as he thought. It took a sec to process exactly what Mr. Popo was referring to. Magi racism in this restaurant…. Violence. Wait a sec.. Yuki hit the palm of his hand with his fist as he let out a “Oh I remember!”“Yeah, no, the guy was a total douche-nozzle.” Yuki said casually, he clearly wasn’t thinking about any repercussions of his tone or words from now on. Why would he? He clearly was not in the wrong; his parents even gave him a 50¢ raise for kicking out the douche-nozzle. “So this guy, he ate here with his family, wasn’t a big deal. And after I was serving a magi customer, I walked over to him to give him his check.” Yuki placed his elbows on the rail, getting nice and comfy as he spoke to the Five-O. “So I give him his check, and he grunts like something’s up. So naturally I’m like ’Is there something wrong?’. You know, doing my job trying to make my guests happy. And this guy goes all like.” His voice drops to imitate the man rather poorly. "’Yea there’s something wrong. Why do you let that Thing in here?’ So naturally I’m like ‘Woah woah buddy, this is a safe space for all races.’. And so this guy gets a good idea to threaten calling the health department thinking we have like animal hair in the food or something. And then. AND THEN! He tries to be all high and mighty like ’I wanna talk to your manager!’. “ He was interrupted by the ticket machine going off; apparently there was at least one person in the place that was ordering a drink. “One sec,” he said, waling over and pulling the ticket. He read the drink he needed to make and walked back over to the gumshoe. “So, at this point” He said, picking up where he left off as he made the drink. “ I’m downright pissed at the guy. You don’t come into my restaurant and start insulting my food, my employees, and my guests like that…” At this point, another server had walked over, waiting for Yuki to give her the drink she just put in for her guest. However, she had overheard the last sentence and decided to blurt out her own two cents. ”Yuki You’re always doing that! You’re the owners’ son not the owner. This isn’t your place.”Yuki frowned and placed the drink on the counter. “Shut up Alysa, I’m talking to The Man right now. The guy from last week called the cops apparently. Take your drink and go away.” Yuki spoke in a playful tone, literally shooing the server away with his hand. However, Alysa clearly understood the gravity of the situation. Her eyes widened as she mumbled a ”oh shit. I’ma.. just go..” and left. “Hmm… Where was I?” Yuki paused as he tried to remember, unless reminded, it would take about a minute for him to go “Oh that’s right! I was pissed!” And then continuing. “So. Naturally, people like this only respond to very dramatic show off things of power. So I totally flipped the table!. No joke, full on Flipped the table with the few glasses that remained on the table too. The guy didn’t get hurt. But he definitely left in a hurry.” He spoke as though he was truly proud of himself. That’s because he was. It was his fantasy to flip a table on a rude customer and for once he was actually able to do it. Glorious! Sure, he didn’t tell about the part where yuki Litterally threw the guy out of the restaurant. But hey. No need to go into that detail. Yuki wasn’t THAT much of a moron. Okay, he just forgot about that tidbit. Shh. Just roll with it. Notes: Woo that's a lot of blue. Legit. I wanted to find every name I could possibly use for a police guy and use it in one post. My favourite one was "Mr. Popo" POPO GONNA TEACH YOU THE PECKING ORDER B*TCH!! Sam thought that instead of lots of hate crimes occurring, perhaps the fellow was just a little dense. Maybe forgetful? Anyways, regardless of what the gentleman was, Sam still needed the report and the guy WAS still talking. He heard the guy call the hate crime guy a 'douche-nozzle'. What was a douche nozzle? Sam just looked horribly confused for a moment before resolving to think past that. He heard the story about the hate crime and gave a light grunt of disgust. These things actually happened regularly, and it had stopped amazing him how nasty people could be at their cores. How did people not think twice before letting this filth leave their mouths?
"Hate crimers pollute the air with their words." That was his view on the subject, and he supposed it would be less biased had he kept it to himself. But he kept it to himself ninety nine times out of a hundred. This was the hundredth time, so he just said it. A side of his mouth quirked up in a lopsided smirk when the waitress corrected the guy before him that it wasn't his restaurant but his parents'. That said, he'd heard 'The Man' and he thought that might be a word for the government and he sighed. Flipped the table, huh?
"The full report had him thrown out. But honestly I don't really blame you after his display. And the comment about the hair in the food." He'd write it up nicely.
"After all, if he thought there was hair in the food, he MUST HAVE wanted to leave anyways. You just gave him a...push. In future though, I suggest not using force. There aren't a lot of magi sympathizers in the police force you realize." Samuel smiled warmly.
"Also, I am not 'The Man'. That would unfortunately be my uncle." The politician. The jerk who thought magis were trash. Samuel was ashamed to be related to the fool. Samuel took a few notes on his notepad.
"Name's Samuel by the way."

[PTabbedContent] [PTab=Post] “Nice to meetcha Sammy!” he said with a big smile extending his hand for a hearty handshake. “I could tell you were a cool guy. Not many cops would be cool enough to sit at the bar.” Yuki was always doing that, instantly giving people nicknames whether they liked it or not. For yuki, it was a signature of friendship. If he gave you a nickname, it meant he liked you. Granted, he had one himself that he was not fond of. Double Standard? Yes. Did he care or recognize it? Nope. “Let me get you something for your trouble.” He said, smiling and walking backwards towards his well. “First drink’s on me. What’cha say?” Yukimaru didn’t really give him a chance to answer since he was already making the drink. He chose something not too expensive, just a tall glass of the Cider. He remembered he said no to the Amber ale, so perhaps a cider was up his ally. Besides, Yuki wasn’t a fan of ale. So if he denied it, he’d be able to drink the cider himself. He slid the drink in front of Sam and gave a smile. Yes, he did know that he gave him no choice. And it would be rude to turn down a gift, wouldn’t it? A point he would be sure to bring up if Sammy tried to deny his charity. The ticket printer started to go off, Yukimaru’s queue to get back to work for a little bit. “One sec man.” He said grabbing his hand towel from behind him and whipping off his hands. “Take a look at the menu while I’m making these drinks. We have some good food dude, shouldn’t leave without trying something.” The place was relatively quiet, only one other person had come in since Sammy arrived. The only noise was the clanking of glasses from Yuki. You could actually hear the music in the background, definitely a stylized approach to that medieval Mythic music. But it definitely fit the mood. I mean, the bartender was wearing a worn leather vest, a loose cotton shirt, and high boots, for gods’ sake. Yuki returned a bit later and returned to his nonchalant leaning position against the rail. “See anything you like?” he asked, ready to take his order. If he was given one he would put it immediately put it into the computer before continuing. “So You said Your uncle was quote unquote “The man?” I thought that was any sort of government person. Like cops too.”

He'd been called Sam as a kid, and Samuel. You'd think someone would've thought to call him Sammy before, even as a joke. But they hadn't. Maybe it was his lack of close friends, or perhaps his stiff personality that made people think Sammy didn't fit him. In any case, this guy nicknaming him made Sam smirk a bit. This guy was kinda fun just to be around. No wonder the restaurant did well enough to get away with throwing out racist customers. Then the guy said he'd get something for his trouble and Samuel arched an eyebrow. Then the guy said the first drink was on him and Samuel's face expressed the confusion and mixture of emotions. Other people could probably read him like a book. Friends and family had told him that before. A drink wasn't bribing an officer, he felt sure of that. He glanced at the clock briefly and found out it was a mere two minutes until he was off. It seemed the drive to the restaurant had taken more time than he had thought.
"Sure." No sooner had he spoken the word than the drink was placed in front of him. His eyes widened slightly at the speed, but he picked up the mug and took a sip. Ooh. "Ooh your cider's good. If everything else is as good, I'll have to come back." Then he was handed a menu. Just what he had been about to request, actually. He looked it over idly, with a content smile on his face. Funny that a hate crime had led him to a place he might grow to love. He remembered the waitress calling the guy Yuki too. Then the guy came back and asked if he wanted anything and Samuel nodded.
"I'll take a Glutton." He'd never thought he'd say those words, but hey, the food looked good. He loved mozza sticks, he loved onion rings, and he loved chicken tenders. Although mozza sticks were his favourite. And he hadn't had anything to eat since lunch.
"I guess it technically does refer to any government official, but I'm just a new detective. Whereas my uncle's a politician." Samuel made a face at the thought of his uncle.
"You want proof of government racism, he's a good example. Fortunately not everyone in our family thinks the same way. His philosophies did unfortunately get to his kids." He shook his head, letting out a long sigh.
"Anyways, he also likes to say that 'he's the man' to sound hip so there's that meaning to it also."
