The rain came down in droves. Embry frowned out her window as the rain streaked down it. She had her driver today, not really wanting to bother with it as she went around, making sure the business' of her district were taken care of. She was one of those representatives that prefers to take care of the people who were over her jurisdiction, even if it didn't exactly help her sometimes. She sighed as she grabbed her red umbrella. She was in grey slacks with a white button up shirt, her hair pulled into a pony tail. Stepping out, holding up the umbrella, Embry started with one of the many shops. The first few were quick visits, everything seemed to be in order in terms of paperwork and Embry had made her way down the block. It was pouring even harder now as she made her way to one of her more favorite shops. Sweet Nothings was a pastry shop that Embry was more fond of. It was a cute shop with an even cuter owner. And the pastries were very well made helped. Embry had never had a problem with the owner, Kerli, and that was the appeal of her shop. Embry closed her umbrella, stepping into the shot. It didn't stop the rain from trying to soak her with the few steps it took to get into the shop and Embry cursed under her breath, brushing off the stray droplets of water. Looking around, the sweet scent of baking bread and pastries covered her and Embry let out a contented sigh. This was like a guilty pleasure for Embry and she walked up to the counter, readjusting her bag on her shoulder, watching Kerli work. "You look very busy today, is now a good time?" They didn't have a pre-set appointment but it was the last thursday of the month, which was the time Embry always did her rounds at the shops, this one was a little special since it was the quarterly review, which, like the name suggests, only happens every 3 months. "It shouldn't take long, but these things can be tedious. If we need to schedule an actual appointment I can always come back." Embry leaned on the counter, watching the petite brunette. -- tag: Kelri Anderson

Oh Honey I’m gonna make your life so sweet ❤ Even though it was raining out, the smell of pumpkin would fill the streets of the district that surrounded the little shop known as Sweet Nothings. Though no one was sitting outside, the tables were uncharacteristically empty given the rain of course, the inside was filled to the back wall with people. Some of her regulars had even camped down on the huge stuffed animals in the kid's section. Obsidian was currently resting on the window, laying down and napping by the sound of the rain. Kel had gotten to the shop to make the pumpkin muffins early, and make sure the rest of the assortment of her baked goods were fresh. She didn’t have very many cakes today, but she did have an apple pie. September marked the beginning of the fall season in Sweet Nothings. It was time to bring on the pumpkin, cinnamon, and apple scented pastries. Anything and everything that would give a warm comfortable feeling to the customers that would enter into her little shop. Kelri adjusted her bow headband with a smile. It was one of her favorites because it added a little bit of cute to her outfit, even if she had to have her hair up and out of the way. She smiled as she checked out her watch. It had been a busy morning, and the rain hadn’t stopped her flow of customers into the shop who wanted something extra for their mornings. Tugging her apron down a little Kel smiled at the next person who came through the door as the bell chimed. Kel smiled as she set out the second tray of pumpkin bread into the display case. She was a bit busy, but not by much. Looking over to the person who entered she gave a smile. “I’ll be right with you!” She finished with the bread before she straightened her apron and walked over to Embry. “Well, it’s fairly tame right now, I was busy this morning. Students who wanted muffins, and hunters who wanted cookies.” She grinned knowing Embry would understand what she meant. It was nice that her mornings were normally extremely busy, and given it was a little later in the afternoon, the rush had slowed down. Kel thought on it a little and realized the quarterly review was coming up, and she supposed that was why Embry was here. Though Embry did tend to pop into the shop often enough, outside of official business. “No, no, give me a moment.” Kel gave her fellow woman a warm smile, and double checked to make sure everything was all set before waving Embry to a small desk in the back room of the shop. “What can I do for you today Ms. Delarcoix?” -tag: Embry Delacroix #words:458 - notes:Sorry for the delay, Operation Cupcake Flirtations is a go! - muse: n/a MADE BY VEL OF GS + WW

Embry gave Kelri a smile and followed her into the back room. She certainly was cuter every time Embry saw her. Clearing her throat, she sat down, crossing her legs. "Well, as you know its the last Thursday of the month, in which I come in and make sure all your permits are up to date and everything checks out. The normal boring stuff." Embry grabbed out some papers from her bag. "Of course, today is a little different because it is the quarterly review and I must have all your earnings from the last three months, along with the permits, and any issues you have had. Whatever vouchers need to be handed in as well from things that need to be fixed or have been fixed." The paperwork that needed to be done could have been done by anyone, but it wouldn't have been done right and Embry preferred everything be done right the first time.
Looking up at Kelri, Embry smiled. "Of course, I hope that next time we meet it won't have to be about business." Embry put the papers in a specific order. "And I will need you to sign these papers, since even though it is the quarterly review, it is also time for you to renew your contract with the building, since it will be up in a couple weeks, I thought we could just go ahead and take care of this now." Embry handed the papers to Kelri.
The smell of the sweet pastries in the shop made Embry relax a little bit and she clasped her hands on her lap. She had been feeling a little out of sorts lately, between all the work and stresses involved with it, and maybe a sweet pastry, or perhaps something sweeter like the shop owner would help cheer her up a little bit. Of course, Embry kept these thoughts to herself, no need to creep out the brunette. The thought almost brought a smile to Embry's lips as she waited for the brunette to get the paperwork she needed. Pushing her long blonde hair over her shoulder, she resisted the urge to pull out a cigarette.
She would never taint Sweet Nothings with the smell of her smoke at the very least and Embry tilted her head, curling her long fingers and placing her knuckles on her cheek. "Now, is there anything you need from me?" Embry was warmest with the brunette than any of her staff, part of the reason she did these meetings away from work, and if Kelri only knew that all she had to do was ask and Embry would probably get anything for the sweet brunette that she asked. The thought brought a smile to the politicians lips.

Kel smiled as she watched Ms. Delarcoix sit down opposite her. She had a feeling that she knew why she was here, but that was okay. Embry was welcome to stop by at any time, the woman across from the table should know that by now. “Ah yes. They should be.” Kel had spent more than enough time making sure her paperwork was all in order. Namely because it would be such a hassle if it wasn’t. Paperwork might not be her strong suit, but she did care about her shop. That much was important. Kelri gave a small smile to the woman before nodding. “Of course, here you are.” Kel grinned before pulling a small folder out of her drawer, yes she was pro-paper trail. On the folder in bright green lettering was the word ‘Important’ in all caps. “Ah,ignore the title, I do that so I don’t lose important things.” She flashed a smile over at Embry. “It should all be in there, and color coded, of course.” If there was one thing her mom had installed in her, it was the color code. So useful, especially in situations like this.
Kel tilted her head looking over at the woman. “You know you are always more than welcome to stop by.” She grinned over at the woman and had a quizzical look on her face for a bit. “Know what? We should totally hang out outside of Sweet Nothings.” She grinned and shrugged her shoulders. “As much as I love my shop, I also like to get out and about sometimes.”
Kel was more than up for girl time, especially if it would be with a friend. Turning to look at the contract that Embry handed over Kel frowned a smidge. “It says here that my rent is going up, is there a reason for this?” She didn’t really understand the politics behind property values, or taxes, but she did at least want a small explanation. She glanced over the rest of the contract, finding nothing else out of the ordinary. “Thank you for coming personally Embry, you really didn’t have to.” Kel smiled over at her friend and shook her head a little. “You are one of the only people who actually explain reasonings behind what is happening.” Kel really did appreciate the transparency that Embry provided.
Kelri knew that most of the government operated on secrecy, so to operate with someone who was known as transparent with her contacts, Kelri really did appreciate it. Kel smiled as she watched Embry fidget a bit. “Ah, one moment.” Kel grinned before getting up and going into her kitchen for a split second. She came back quite quickly and handed Embry something she knew the other would enjoy. If Embry were to accept the sweet, she would see it as a dark chocolate rolled wafer. They were mainly used in coffee, but hey, it was something to do with her hands. Plus it tasted delicious. If Embry would take a bite, she would soon find out it also tasted like hazelnut. “Here, you looked like you needed something to do with your hands, plus, you can try out these dark chocolate hazelnut rolled wafers I made last night. I haven’t even put them out in the shop yet.” Kel grinned as she took a small nibble of her creation, a look of pure joy crossing over her face. Yup, dark chocolate was the best.
Kel grinned as she looked over at the woman. She was always doing this, asking Kel if there was anything that she needed. Kel’s reply would always be the same. “Embry, you know all I need from you is a smile, and a hug.” Kel wasn’t the type to take advantage of the young politician. Kel stood and offered her hands out to the woman. Get ready for the hug Embry, it’s coming. “How have you been lovely?”
Time to turn the topic around to her friend.

Taking the paperwork, Embry smiled at the giant IMPORTANT on the front of the folder as Kelri quickly explained. She shook her head, looking through the carefully organized paperwork. "My dear, don't fret it's perfectly fine. You are so organized, its amazing." She put the paperwork in her tote, looking back up as Kelri continued talking. Embry smirked. "Sounds like fun, Kelri." A lot of fun. Embry let her mind wander for a second before Kelri's expression dropped a little, causing Embry to frown. When the brunette asked about rent, a sigh left Embry's lips.
The rent. Embry had tried to not have it go up this quarter, but with rising taxes, the government had had no choice but to raise rent on all business's in the area. She pursed her lips. "With taxes being raised, all the rent on the business's are going up, unfortunately. I'm sorry, Kelri. I tried to fight it." Embry had pulled some strings and it still hadn't been enough, and that made her feel worse, but she knew also that Kelri's business should be able to stand through the storm, it was so popular. Some other business's she knew would feel the hurt though.
Embry blinked as Kelri moved to the back then came back out with a plate with one of her creations on it. Embry blinked, accepting the plate with the sweet on it. Kelri was kind enough to understand Embry when she fidgeted and Embry gave her a smile, taking a small bite. Dark chocolate and hazelnut assaulted her senses and the divine taste made her eyebrow's rise. She set it down. "Those are divine!" Embry exclaimed. She couldn't believe how talented this young lady in front of her was, but knew that it was all well deserved.
Taking the brunette's offered hands, Embry stood up, setting the plate with the sweet rolled wafer aside and accepting her hug. Wrapping her arms around Kelri's slight body, Embry enjoyed the feel of her warmth. And her breasts pressed against her weren't so bad either. Embry pulled back, her hands on Kelri's shoulders. "You are my favorite, Kelri. So kind and sweet, like your lovely creations."
"Oh Kelri, you know. I've been busy as always, all these new regulations and with certain projects that take up my time. Not enough time to visit my favorite places." Embry winked, a rare grin touching her face.

Kel couldn’t help but smile over at her friends comment on her being organized. “I have to be organized. If I’m not the shop won’t function and I won’t be able to run the shop smoothly.” She winked over at the woman. “Of course it is going to be fun. We’re going together aren’t we?” Kel had every intention of their girls day being fun.
Kel looked up at Embry with a small smile. “I understand. I just wasn’t aware of why. Thank you for taking the time to clarify.” Kel grinned over at Embry and tilted her head. “I should be fine, but I’m a bit worried about some of the other shops in the area.” True the rich in Felici liked to spend money, but more often than not, they preferred to do it all at once rather than over time to help the economy. Kel had to laugh at the frown that came across her friend's face. “Hey, you are one of the only good politicians. All of us working people know you have our best interests in heart.” With that, she signed the document passing it back over to the politician. “It is nice to know that you have our backs though.”
Kel could only grin as she returned with her sweets. Of course they tasted good, they better after the work she had put into them. Grinning she watched her friend take a bite and chuckled lightly. The look on her face was one of pure surprise and Kel knew that Embry was enjoying the dark chocolate and hazelnut.Kel thought the flavors would compliment each other nicely, and from the look of bliss on Embry’s face she was right. “Yay! I take it you like them then?” She tilted her head a bit before smirking. “I was thinking of calling them Guilty Pleasures. What do you think?” Kelri had decided to name them after seeing many smokers come in and crave sweets Kel had decided to do a little marketing with it as well.
Kel grinned as her hug was accepted and Embry moved into her. It seemed like Embry needed the hug the most and Kel gave an extra squeeze to reassure her friend before she backed up a bit. “D’aww thanks.” Smirking she looked up at the woman and tilted her head. “I’m not all sweet though.” Cue the grumpy Kel face. “Nooooo I can be meannnnn and grumpy too.” Embry should understand that Kel was obviously joking and was just trying to lighten her friend's mood. “I am glad you like my sweets though. I spend enough time working on them that I enjoy the looks on peoples face when they enjoy them.” She smiled up at her friend. “It makes my day.”
Kel smirked as Embry winked her way. Winking back and putting on a fake pout Kelri tilted her head up at Embry. “All of these rules and regulation and projects make you seemed a little stressed.” She smirked. “Maybe it's time for a spa day?” Kelri certainly liked getting pampered and she had a feeling Embry would enjoy the visit as well. “I know a pretty good one we can go to, besides, who doesn’t like getting tipsy and pampered?” She gave a grin over to Embry before shrugging. “At the very least we can go get our nails done.”

Moving around Kelri and leaning against her desk, Embry thought about the name that she had given for the sweet creation. It was quite fitting, and would become Embry's favorite if the cute shop owner kept selling them. It would also go along with what this place really was to Embry, which was a guilty pleasure. The blonde gave her friend a smile. "It is quite perfect." She nodded in agreement.
Kelri's grumpy face caused the young politician to cover her mouth, hiding a snicker that was threatening to come out. "Oh, my dear, you mad would truly be a sight to behold." They always say its the sweet ones with the feistiest temper. This thought intrigued Embry and she wondered idly if she would ever get to see Kelri truly angry. The thought left though as Kelri kept talking about going out.
At the mention of a spa day, Embry perked up. She wasn't fond of really getting pampered by other people, preferring a simple soak in her tub. But maybe it was overdo. And seeing Kelri in just a towel was quite a tempting treat for her. The thought made Embry smirk a bit and she tapped her chin. "Well, I can make some room in my schedule for a spa day. You pick the place, my treat." Embry gave Kelri a smile. The politician would love nothing more at that moment then to spend the rest of the day at the sweet shop who's owner had caught her fancy. But business called.
She looked at Kelri. "Would you like to grab a late dinner tonight when you are done working?" The politician was wondering if maybe taking Kel out to eat would be a good idea when the words had come out. She gave a friendly smile. "You work so hard, you deserve to be treated." The thoughts of how Embry could treat Kelri ran through her mind a little, but she kept herself cool and quickly banished the thoughts. Truly it was just a friendly dinner, and Embry enjoyed spending time with the little shop owner.

Kelri watched as Embry moved around her desk with ease. It was fitting how the representative seemed to just fit behind a desk. To be honest, it made kelri want to take her friend out into new situations, rather than only interact with her inside at a desk of some sort. She smiled when Embry gave comment to her Guilty Desires. “Thanks.” Kelri gave a small head tilt before looking over to her friend. “I figured they would be good for smokers, or someone who wanted a cigarette.” She smirked. “A healthier for your lungs alternative if you will.”
When Embry responded by laughing at her Kelri only intensified her grumpy face, turning it into a pout. Once the puffy lips happened kelri leaned back on her heels to put her hands on her hips and lean forward. “Oh you don’t even know.” She smirked before her posture returned to normal, and tilted her head. “I do try not to get angry though...” There were reasons for that that Embry wouldn’t know and Kel wasn’t exactly willing to put forward at this point. Let's just say it reminded her of her dad too much. As much as she loved her father he had anger issues that he desperately needed to work on.
Kelri smiled as her friend perked up at the mention of a spa day. She would say that the two were long overdue for one. Especially given how rarely they got to see each other. Kelri knew that in order to keep friendship they needed to meet every once and a while outside of work. Besides, Kelri did genuinely enjoy the time she spent with Embry. They had been friends for a few years, and Kelri genuinely enjoyed the woman. Maybe in another life they could have been something more than friends, but she had been convinced long ago it was better for the two to remain friends. Especially after seeing the look in her mother’s eyes when she heard what Embry’s job was. It held prestige in her family and Kelri never wanted to take advantage of her friend. "I’mma pick the place, and it will be my treat.” The woman looked over at her representative with a sly grin. “I’m more than willing to pay for this one, especially when I’m the one taking you away from your busy schedule.” There was also the fact that Kelri was not going to give her mother any ammunition. She tilted her head towards the woman. “You can pay next time.” Giving a slight giggle she held her hand up to her mouth biting on her thumb a bit. “This ensures we will be doing girl’s day more than once.” MWAHAHAHAHAHA was the inner dialogue of the baker. “I’m diabolical, I know.”
At the invitation of Dinner Kelri gave a slight nod. “I’d be down, as long as you are okay with a late dinner.” As it was a weekday Kelri’s shop didn’t close until 9 at night, and she was staying at the shop the whole day. Sweet Nothings was her baby and she really was a workaholic. “I know its late.” Kel wouldn’t feel bad at all if Embry wasn’t able to go, and she was more than willing to reschedule if the politician couldn’t make it. “Awww sweetie, I could say the same to you!” She gave a dimpled smile towards Embry and went up to give her another hug. “You’ve been doing a lot of good work lately. I’ve been keeping up my holo-scrapbook.” Kelri liked to keep tabs on her friends and family. “You should know the first chapter is almost complete.”
Cue the smirk that would follow.

Embry let a small grumble out. "I wouldn't let you even think of paying, Kel." Embry would ensure she didn't pay, or if she did, that she would get reimbursed. The politician had her ways. She stared at her friend, and smirked a little. Diabolical didn't even begin to cover it and at the exclamation of doing more than one girls day, Embry gave Kelri a sly grin. "Of course, I'll pick the place next time." Embry had a couple of thoughts about where they would go, not all innocent. Kelri was cute enough that Embry's smile softened a little bit.
"Of course I am ok with a later dinner, I wouldn't have asked, silly girl." Embry gave her an exasperated look and looked at her watch. It was already getting later in the afternoon, and she had one more stop before she would come back and get Kelri. "I'll pick you up here around...oh...9:30?" She tilted her head, her long pony tail falling over her shoulder as she smirked at Kelri, placing her long fingers under Kelri's chin. "Wear something cute." With that and a laugh, Embry picked up her bag. "See you soon, luv." She walked out the door, moving to her car and getting in.
Kelri certainly was interesting, and Embry couldn't wait to have dinner with her tonight. It was going to be fun. With a smirk, Embry sped off, moving to her final appointment of the day. She would try and finish it up fast and get ready for the dinner with Kelri. Where would she take her, somewhere fancy? Somewhere simple? Somewhere the girl might oggle over the desserts. Maybe a restaurant that was more elegant than fancy, intimate. The thought made Embry laugh out loud in her car.

| ◀ | [attr="class","PrettyInPink"] Kel would roll her eyes at the politician’s insistence of her not paying. It was honestly a little bit stupid in her book. She was perfectly capable of paying! Sometimes she thought Embry used her money a litttttle too loosely, but she wasn’t going to bring it up again. Especially since it would just result in a present off. Again. Which just ended up in a stalemate anyway more of the time. She wasn’t going to incite that again. “Fine,” would be the short response. The baker’s cheeks would puff out in response and a look of pouting would come across her face. “Next time let me pay though.” She was adamant in this because it established that they were equals. Kel didn’t really like to be, as Embry called it, spoiled.
Kelri’s pouting face would smile at the reassurance her friend gave her. Then her friend looked at the watch andKelri would shake her head with silent laughter. “Always a busy bee you are.” Kelri was well aware of how busy the politician was, and keeping that in mind she was more than happy that Embry chose to keep her in company. For the politician to take the time to eat a dinner with her friend, and well to be honest it made the baker feel special. She was glad that Embry was her friend.
Kel would nod at the time that Embry had set forth. “Works for me, it should give me enough time to get home, shower, and come back.” Contrary to popular belief she didn’t live at her bakery. Just sort of mainly resided there. “I will see you then.” The woman would nod and laugh as Embry held her chin. “Well duh! What else would I be wearing?” The smirk was strong with this one. “Of course I’ll wear something cute.” That most certainly was a given.
Kel watched appreciatively as Embry would walk out the door and exit the restaurant. Tonight was bound to be fun, but first she had to get back to work and make it through the day. She would do so as best she could and would leave the place to her friend. Wherever the two of them went, they were sure to have fun, no matter the occasion. Either way she was looking forward to the night.
