Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face "How about this then?" Elijah would begin, a small forming. "You look in the fridge to see what vegetables you'd like in your breakfast and I'll get the coffee started." The older man would slide his hand across the counter over to the coffee tin. Its cool material was very welcoming to his touch. Caffeine was the quiet promise it bought him. Energy. A power source to give his batteries a boost to begin his day.
Elijah wouldn't waste any time. Hands busied themselves bringing all the needed components together. The sink would be turned on to begin filling the pot. As the water rose in the pyrex container the pitch would rise. Elijah had it memorized for how long it took to fill the pot to the correct dashed measuring line. Both the amount of seconds to inwardly count to and the higher pitched tone. The blind man would continue in his achieving of necessary items. The mugs, the filter, the proper amount of measuring the substance.
Meanwhile, Luca would find numerous items in the refrigerator. A testament to the people who had entered Elijah's life in the past few months. Before so many more people had somehow entered his family he'd been very lax with such things. But now with a precious little mouth to feed, having food in the house had become a much higher priority. Cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, peaches, strawberries; there was a fridge to be proud of inside.

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] As their tasks were laid out before them, Luca nodded once. Then, realizing the gesture would go unseen, answered aloud, “S-sure.” This was… going to take some getting used to, wasn’t it? He was’t exactly the most vocal person, much of the time, but those sorts of answers were exactly what Elijah needed. One day he might get the hang of it… In the meantime, locating vegetables was a simple enough task, and as the other magi set about brewing their coffee, Luca turned to do just that. Pulling open the door, he found the refrigerator to be quite well stocked with all manner of foods. Trying not to waste too much time letting out the cold, he picked through the selection carefully, pulling out some mushrooms here, spinach there, tomatoes, and green onions. And then, of course, there were the eggs themselves. That was a decent enough mix, he thought. With these items in hand, he returned to Elijah and set them down near the stove. “Where, ah, where would the pans be?” he asked, eyeing the cabinets uncertainly. He didn’t want to go rooting through everything aimlessly, but whichever one the earth magi directed him to, Luca would head for, pulling out a pan that seemed like it was big enough to set near the stove as well. This was where he stopped, however, waiting for the elder magi to take the lead, as the one thing he felt he was good for— retrieving the things they needed— had already been accomplished. These two are adorable This makes me excited for future plots >////< Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face The familiar gargling of the coffee maker was comforting. Assuring. It was hope in liquid form. A guarantee of energy to assist in taking on the day. It didn't take long for the aroma to rise. The older earth magi would inhale deeply with a growing pleased smile. By the gods who did not exist, there were few greater scents in the world. The smell of his daughter of course skyrocketed easily to the top of that list. Nasrin's perfume. Meals chef'ed together by Cherche and Kaveri. But coffee? Shortly listed below all previously mentioned. Easily.
So lost in his glorious coffee driven moment he was that Luca making his way around the kitchen, the sounds, were distant within Elijah's mind. Coffee had a way of melting away the world. Much to Elijah's embarrassment, it had even had moments where even Stella trying to get his attention hadn't been noticed right away. So long had coffee helped him temporarily allow the world's troubles around him fade away, it was a tough habit to break in current day. So it would take Elijah a moment to not only realize that Luca was speaking to him but also to realize what the words were trying to express.
"Oh, sorry." The earth magi would share an apologetic smile for not responding immediately. "The furthest right lower cabinet. Hands would busy themselves again as he would feel his way to the appropriate items that were needed to get breakfast on its way. The carton of eggs would be pulled over after pulling a bowl down from an upper cabinet. Crack would go the first egg. Using a fork to begin stirring, one egg after another would plop into the bowl.
The beginnings of omelet goodness. "Would you mind cutting the vegetables? I'm pretty slow when it comes to that. As well as accident prone." A grin would show as he took a moment to pull out a cutting board and knife for his guest. "So are you often a whiz in the kitchen? I'd have to admit I'm not much helpful in this type of setting. Burned myself too many times." He'd say with a chuckle.

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Luca stood quietly after his question had been asked, waiting for a response that would not come for some time. Shifting uncertainly, he was about to ask once more when Elijah finally seemed to realize he had been spoken to. “It’s fine,” he murmured, smiling faintly to himself as he turned toward the indicated cabinets and retrieved a pan that seemed suitable enough for making omelettes. He was, however, a bit slower to respond to the request that followed. “I, a-ah…” It made sense, really, to have the one of them who wasn’t blind to handle the knives, but his own lack of knowledge left Luca lacking in confidence in his ability to complete the task as well. “I’ll… do my best.” It… couldn’t be that difficult, right? Surely there was really no wrong way to chop vegetables. Maybe. Trying to assure himself that even if he did slip up, he had healing magic at his disposal, Luca retrieved the knife and cutting board from the other magi, and set to chopping vegetables. “Not… really,” he admitted in answer to Elijah’s question, sheepish and uncertain. “I haven’t been in a kitchen like this since I was very young.” Back when keeping a home was still possible, even only for a little while. A few distant memories lingered of helping his parents to prepare some meal or another when he was a child, but it had been at least a decade since then. After a while he paused, staring down at his work while he wondered whether he’d cut everything too big or too small. The idea of “just right” didn’t occur in his mind, but at least he hadn’t injured himself in the process. “I think that’s everything…?”[newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face "Well that's alright." Elijah would respond to the answer his question had received. "Maybe you'll enjoy it now that you're given a chance." The older man would continue whisking the eggs, adding one after the other, as he thought. "I was never very good at kitchen ... activities." A chuckle would follow as nostalgia fogged over his gaze. "My wife always shooed me out. She said cooking was art and baking was science. Neither I was very good at outside of being a jeweler."
The fork would cling against the bowl as Elijah tried to get any excess egg to fall from it. "Who knows? It might become a huge hobby of yours. Gods know I wouldn't be adverse to being the test dummy of anything you whipped up." The pan on stove, Elijah would pour his eggs in and would motion for Luca to pop over. "Just sprinkle them into the pan. It's an electric stove so just turn it on and then we wait." A smile be shared with the zero magi as he stepped aside. "Sorry I can't do more. Cooking on the stove now is kind of hard for me now."
A stretch of arms above his head would follow. "I tend to just stick with the microwave when I'm by myself. Sorry that you more or less have to make your own meal. It just tends to not end well when I'm handling fire." Two more cracks of the neck would follow, one way and then the other. "Stella is going to love seeing you again." The man would smile as he stepped further away from the stove. What tended to be the best idea if history was meant to be remembered. "Do you know how long you'll be in Haven this time? Are you planning on returning with Ms Bazzi?" Elijah would laugh at his own jump of conversation. "Or is it too early to start talking about that? Sorry. I have a habit of jumping into business."

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] “Ah, well, maybe…?” Luca answered, shuffling in place. Maybe Elijah was right, but it was still a little strange, having all these things that were supposed to be mundane to get used to. And he wasn’t exactly the most confident in his ability to make much more than the simplest of things, but that was hardly new. “Maybe between the two of us, we can at least put together something decent…” That Elijah had been a jeweler was news to him, stored away for the moment until their omelettes were under way and didn’t need quite as much attention. “Let’s just see how this goes, first,” the zero magi murmured, chuckling. As long as nothing caught fire, and they avoided any food poisoning, he might be convinced to return to the kitchen another time. “And it’s… it’s alright. You’ve done what you can.” Slowly— perhaps far more so than necessary— he dropped the vegetables into the pan, stirring a bit with a spatula so everything looked evenly distributed. The thought of Stella made him smile, more genuinely than he had in quite some time. It would be good to see her again, too, although how he was going to explain to her why he’d been gone, he had no idea. Soon enough, though, the smile faltered and faded, chased off by dark memories. “I… I think I’m going to stay here for a while— if you don’t mind, I mean. I don’t, um… A-after everything that’s happened, I think it would be better to…” Chewing at his lip, Luca poked a little at the sizzling beginnings of an omelette. He was supposed to flip it at some point, wasn’t he? “Don’t… don’t worry about it,” he added in a small voice, “It’s fine.” Elijah Kingsley [newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

We need at least 3 bedrooms now XD Halp. We can do walkthroughs Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face After everything that's happened.
Elijah would be lying if he said he wasn't concerned or was in the very least not curious. Yes, he knew of the recent curfew law and the chaos that erupted afterwards. Even if he hadn't been there in person the news would have crossed his desk. Actual lives had been ended over the passing of that anti-magi legislature. If it had been a warning of what was to come ... the future was not a bright one outside of Haven's walls. Elijah was a father. The country's worsening conditions had not been lost on him. It was the Ethea his daughter was going to inherit after all.
But the older man couldn't help but think there was something more to it than that. There was another layer to Luca's anxieties. Something else had happened that he hadn't shared with him yet. Which was fine in itself. But as a friend who considered him family, Elijah couldn't help but feel protective of him. Yeah, he respected Luca's privacy. But ... dammit if he didn't want to know. Maybe he ought to pay that Ms Bazzi a visit later today.
"Hm?" Elijah would ask. "Of course I don't mind. You're family. You can stay here as long as you'd like." Speaking of Ms Bazzi, it seemed Luca wasn't planning on leaving the city with her. Fair enough. In all honesty Elijah was happy to hear this. Of course he'd support him either way, but the idea of Stella's Uncle Luca staying for longer and hence his daughter's rise in happiness, it was nice. Though it was also equitable to say Elijah would miss his company too. Yes, Luca was a softer soul but he was also a kind, sweet soul that had taken care of his daughter during a time he couldn't.
"We like having you here. We'd love to have you." Elijah smiled, meaning each syllable sincerely. "I'm just sorry I don't have a larger place yet for all of you." Luca. Stella. Pathos. The nights Nasrin stayed over. He'd gone from living alone for years to having a large household in, well, a small one bedroom apartment. "Actually, maybe you could help me with that. If you're willing of course." Elijah would rest his elbows upon the kitchen counter top as he smiled softly at the sound of sizzling food in the frying pan. "I've been trying to make time for apartment hunting but I've been so busy with work or with Stella. Would you be willing to help me find a new place for all of us? We've kind of outgrown this apartment. Heh heh."

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Though the answer was hardly unexpected, it was still a relief to hear that Elijah did not mind continuing to host him in his home. “You’re family”, he’d said. It would still be a while before he was used to hearing that, Luca thought, but at least it was a good thing to grow accustomed to. It was nice to be wanted, after all, even if his doubts remained about being needed. Gently as he could manage, the zero magi prodded the omelette a little more, carefully lifting part of it up to see one side appeared to have cooked through. Now came the tricky part; flipping the thing over without making too much of a mess in the process. Thanking the gods he at least had steady hands, Luca carefully edged the spatula beneath the eggs, until it was right in the middle. Then at a snail’s pace he lifted it up and flipped. A few stray droplets went flying, but for the most part the omelette landed where it was meant to be. Letting out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding, the healer decided that was enough of a success for him. “Well… I’m s-sort of used to not really having a roof over my head at all,” he replied, glancing Elijah’s way as the earth magi settled against the counter. “This… this is a nice change.” The sleeping arrangements were better, too, if a little awkward. It was unlikely he’d forget how he’d woken up earlier, but maybe once Surai had gone home he could finally convince Elijah to let him take the couch. Having never been apartment hunting in his life, Luca hesitated to answer the other man’s request, almost certain that he’d be quite useless in the endeavor. But… if nothing else he could try to be useful. It seemed better than giving up entirely. “I can… give it a try…?”[newclass=.joker]width: 360px; height: 140px; padding: 20px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .joker]background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4); -moz-transition: 3s all; -webkit-transition: 3s all; -o-transition: 3s all; transition: 1s all;[/newclass][newclass=.game]text-align:center; line-height: 9px; margin-top:10px;opacity:0;font:bold 10px Roboto; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-delay: .3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.game a]font:bold 17px Roboto; font-weight: 900; color: #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .game]margin-top:0px;opacity:1;transition-delay: .3s; -webkit-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.5s;[/newclass][newclass=.ninety]width:400px;height:180px;background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/VcCe39g.jpg?1);[/newclass] [newclass=.kikan]width: 65px; height: 65px; border: 1px solid #0; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 2; margin-top: -27px; margin-bottom: -39px; filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);-moz-filter: grayscale(100%);[/newclass][newclass=.ig:hover .kikan]filter: grayscale(0%);-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);-moz-filter: grayscale(0%); transition: 0.6s; transition-timing-function: linear;[/newclass][googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Open+Sans]

Nothin' else seems to hurt like the smile on your face The sounds of the frying pan's sizzling contents was comforting in an odd way. It was the promise of upcoming food. It wasn't quite on the same level as the bubbling coffee maker. But still. It was soothing. It was fascinating in all honesty how his other senses had skyrocketed after coming to terms with his visual disability. The smell and sounds of every mundane action added color and vibrancy where it used to not.
"I'd really appreciate it." Elijah would respond. Luca's shy acceptance of the asked-for task was much appreciated. "I want to get a place that will work for all of us. It's just, shopping in general is more difficult now. It's hard to purchase a new shirt, much less a whole new home that I want my daughter to be safe and happy in. You know?"
The earth magi would feel his way to the usual cabinet. Up on the second shelf they were. Down came two dinner plates in preparation for the omelet that sounded to be nearing its finished fluffy state. "Well, you'll get used to it, Luca. You're family now. Your home is ours." The man would pull out the necessary silverware to partake in their meals. "I know we need at least three bedrooms. But other than that, I don't know much about what you two would like to see. School districts, parks. The help will be really nice."
Breakfast would finish in near time as well as the coffee would conclude brewing. It would be during a sip of his hot beverage that Elijah would think back on those many many mornings where he'd have a similar process but alone. Stella, Luca, Nasrin. He was no longer alone, was he? It was odd. But nice. The coffee, the omelet, the company. There seemed to be a permanent smile etched onto his lips. It was nice. All of this was nice.

[attr="class","ig"] [attr="class","kikan"] Though the man probably hadn’t intended it to be so, his expression of appreciation only seemed to further cement Luca’s sentencing. He was almost certain he would be of very little use, but now they would be stuck with him anyway. But… perhaps if he was lucky Elijah and his daughter might manage to find some use out of him anyway. He could always hope. “I’ll… I’ll do my best to help,” the zero magi murmured, sounding about as wholly uncertain as he felt. The omelette was almost done now, he was fairly certain. It had solidified nicely, and the vegetables within had settled at a fairly even spread. Some spots had begun to brown a bit, but if he recalled right that was okay as long as they didn’t get so dark as to be burnt. “I, ah…” Once Elijah had plates out for them, Luca would turn off the stove and move the pan to a different burner. “Thank you, Elijah. This… it really means a lot.” To have a home and a family after so long… It would be a nice change, he was sure. “… If it’s not to much to ask… it would be nice to be sort of close to the clinic,” he tried tentatively, carefully sliding their shared omelette from the pan to the plates in as evenly-cut halves as he could manage. “… I’ll probably be here a while so it… it would be nice to be useful somewhere…” With the omelette safely transferred, Luca set the pan aside again to cool while they ate. Elijah’s plate was retrieved first, pressed toward the other man with a quiet, “Here’s yours.” Then he would take up his own, watching in nervous silence to see what the earth magi thought of the breakfast he’d managed to make and where he sat before making an attempt to dig into his own half.
