Silence hung over the two of them again, heavy and oppressive in the bright afternoon air. But what more was there to say? Nobu had said his piece, Lelianna was presumably taking the time to absorb it all, and between those two things what else could either do?
So the water magi waited, watching the redhead out of the corner of his eye while he prodded experimentally at the roots holding the lily pad to his side. It was something to do— a small thing to occupy him until Lelianna came with a response at last. He glanced up at her as he felt a hand settle on his shoulder, expression betraying the barest hints of old, painful aches behind a generally tired look.
She claimed to understand, told him she was sorry… Letting out a long, slow sigh, Nobu nodded quietly. Understanding was something he could accept, at least. “I suppose that is all I can ask you for; understanding.” Grimacing faintly, the lion fish magi pushed himself back onto his feet, and turned to Lelianna with an outstretched hand, offering help in doing so herself if she chose to accept it. “I hope they did, too. And that they received better fates in their next lives.”
Whether the earth magi would accept his help or not, Nobu looked away soon after. “… And… I am sorry for your losses, as well. I…” He paused and cleared his throat, but did not finish whatever statement he’d started. Even if he’d tried, it felt unlikely that he could have. “… Thank you for your help,” he went on instead, gesturing to the makeshift bandages around his torso. “I… hope we might meet again, soon. But for now we should be off, I think.”

(Figured this was a good spot to wrap up, if you want to do a closing post.)
