Rather than continue trying to insist that Lelianna really didn’t need to give him any sort of gift, Nobu relented with an amused smile, and let her putter about without protest. It would have been a waste of breath to try, judging by the look on her face. So, finding a free space on the wall to lean against, the water magi waited to see what she would come up with.
Eventually her eyes landed on the seeds, sparking with some sort of idea, and after being told to wait where he was, he watched her bustle out the door. In the time the other magi was gone, Nobu’s gaze wandered aimlessly over the cabin, lingering here or there for a while before moving on. Eventually, as Lelianna returned, he had to spend a moment or so stifling the laughter bubbling in his chest after her collision with the doorframe, but was distracted soon enough by the object she had in her hands.
The rose was unlike any he’d seen before, both in patterning and sheer size, and he leaned in curiously to inspect it as the earth magi walked by with it. He stared, too, at the woman’s admittedly odd interaction with the tree growing in her home, eyes widening slightly as the thing bent to her will. She was certainly a skilled plant manipulator, wasn’t she…? Even if her methods seemed… unique to her.
Then, at last, Lelianna presented the rose to him to be taken. “I suppose they do,” he agreed, flashing a gracious smile as he accepted the flower. “I’m not nearly the gardener you are, but I will do my best to take care of it.” Nobu stooped into a short bow. “Thank you.” Straightening up again, he turned to move for the door. “Now, I think it’s time I started heading back. It was a pleasure meeting you, Lelianna. Perhaps we will cross paths again soon, hm?”
