History won't With the riots being so fresh on everyone’s mind, it took a while before Alex could actually return to the University to continue with her studies. Due to the sheer chaos the fighting had caused, the students had been mercifully given a small break to deal with it all. Alex certainly had needed it. But now that break was up and it was back to the old grind.
Only, things weren’t the same. It was only thing to be trained for combat, and another thing entirely to actually have to use those skills in a real situation. One where it was highly possible to end up dead.
A scream came from the kitchen-
She shook her head, thoughts wrested away from the text spread out before her. The redhead had claimed one of the tables in the University’s library in order to study. However, there wasn’t much of that going on now. Gods. How many times was her brain going to replay that? That horrible noise…
Alex leaned back in her chair and rubbed one side of her face, mainly near the temple. Over the past few days she’d been getting better about it. Coping. Accepting the facts. But even so, she felt responsible. What if she had gone after them? What if she’d tried to save them? Could she have? Would she have died along with them? What about Daniel and the others?
Truthfully she already knew the answer. Yet her heart wouldn’t let go: those people had died due to her mistake. She’d been the one to tell them to get into the rooms, hadn’t she?
Green eyes stared at the book open before her. The text scrawled across it looked at, but unread. She failed to protect them. It would have been a death wish to try, but still. The redhead hadn’t been good enough.
However her mind went to the new equipment her father had gotten for her. Enchanted gear meant to protect her in case something like this were to ever happen again. In case even more violence broke out in the city once more. The thought that something as horrible as the riots might possibly break out again…A shiver went down the girl’s spine. No. Hopefully that would never happen again. But still…
If it did, maybe she would be better prepared to protect others next time.
Still staring without seeing, Alex’s gaze stayed trained on the book before her. However the girl eventually became aware of another’s presence at her mostly empty table. The redhead looked up, having to blink to pull her attention out from her own head. ”Oh, hello.” The redhead greeted politely, only a little bit startled from her own unawareness of her surroundings. Whatever emotions she'd been displaying were quickly smothered and replaced with a polite smile.

Classes had finally started once more since the interruption of the Riots. Upon revisiting the campus Delilah had heard many things from her fellow student about the violence that occurred by both sides. Everyone had a story to share, even Delilah herself was not discriminated when it came to the violent acts of an angry mob. Delilah had ultimately thought it the government's duty and responsibility to maintain the situation, but had failed utterly as a clash of beliefs was spurred into action. She had already survived one riot, but to live through another in Felici... Despite her dislike to the younger race of Demi-humans known as magi, she found more fault with the government who had handled the situation far more chaotically than it could had been. Since the initial riot it seems that Ethea's supposed attempts to make piece with the magi populace have more or less been a facade of equality. She thought back onto her father and how she had lost him to the first magi riot... she had grown more angry with how much of a detriment the magi were becoming to the nation. First the Riot from eight years ago, then splintering off into some terrorist organization?! Only to repeat the first riot. The more she thought about the more it frustrated her and the more frustrated she became the more snacks she started to eat in an attempt to cool her own nerves. Delilah already knew that she would have to catch up on her studies. Rushing past her fellow students with a quick hello as she munched on some cookies Sasha had made. By the time she reached the library to her dismay she found that her first pack of snacks were empty... thinking back on how she probably ate all of it. Oh well time to move onto snack pack number two... Walking in she quickly rushes to her favorite corner in the library having noticed someone else also occupying the table. Delilah didn't mind sharing the space all the much but it was becoming increasingly worrying the amount of distress this girl seemed to be under. She took a moment to unpack her things, but couldn't stop staring at her. After eating her... 18th cookie?! She decided to attempt to gain the girl's attention. Knocking lightly on the table as she was mid way through eating her 19th cookie until she was able to gain her attention and rather polite greeting. Mouth still full she offers the rather stressed girl a cookie from her second bag. After finally finishing the food in her mouth she took a breath and spoke "You seemed distressed, food helps me calm down so I don't mind sharing." She said politely hoping to ease the girl's mind. History won't Ah. So the girl had seen her distress after all. That put a crack in the smile she had. A little reveal to the emotions that had been on display (inadvertently) earlier.
But then Alex was surprised by the offering of a cookie. It was such a….sudden and spontaneous act of generosity that the redhead had to take a moment to register it. With her mind so deep in her memories of the riots, it stuck out starkly.
With a glance upwards, she saw that the other girl was obviously just trying to be nice. She’d seen Alex upset and was trying to help. Such a sweet thing managed to put a genuine, if small, smile on the redhead’s face. ”I….Thank you very much. I’ll only have one, but thank you.” Reaching out, she took the offered treat and took a bite. The sweetness of the cookie managed to lighten her mood somewhat. She did love food, after all.
”Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to be rude or anything. I was just….caught up in my thoughts.” That was putting it lightly. More like drowning in them.
A scream-
No. They weren’t doing that. Not while there was company at her table now. Using another bite out of her cookie as an excuse to compose herself, Alex glanced at her new table buddy. When had the girl approached? The redhead really must have been caught up with her thoughts to not even notice someone else had sat down with her. ”My name is Alexandra, by the way.” She figured she ought to introduce herself after the other girl had been kind. ”Thanks again for the cookie. I guess I didn’t realize how much I needed one until now.” She joked lightly.

Delilah took a moment to sit and begin reading one of her books to begin her studies. Leaving the bag of cookies within reach of the young girl. When she announced she would only take one, Delilah could only reply "It's fine if you take more... I actually have such a sweet tooth that my maid packed bags of the stuff." She would have to work her body to get rid of the amount of food she took in, but it was worth it to enjoy such sweets. It was quite silly when the girl had started apologizing for such a simple formality. "It's uh... not a problem, really. It's understandable, everyone has something to say or think on since the end of riot. You really have nothing to apologize for." Delilah chuckled lightly trying to keep an eased expression. Once she seemed to start calming down she began reading her book on the olden language. She was half way to getting her Master's degree and she was determined to pass with flying colors. Returning her attention to the young girl, who had just introduced herself Alexandra. Reaching out to shake her hand as they exchanged names. "I'm Delilah, Delilah Morningstar... I believe I haven't seen you on the campus before." She spoke softly as she nudged the bag closer to Alex knowing the feeling of a thought or memory that won't go away. There have been quite a number that had showing this same issue among her own classmates. "It's no problem, its best to know yourself enough to keep things that can clear your mind. Honestly, my maid will be glad I'm sharing... I can be quite a glutton. At least that what she tells me, so be my guest and take as much as you need." She chuckles nervously remembering the amount of times she's surprised the few people that wanted to take her out to dinner... She wasn't all that against it, but eventually she had to stop having them pay for the food... Delilah would feel far too guilty if she ended up bankrupting someone because of her appetite. "Maybe we could go somewhere more noisy... using something as a white noise could help. Either way I'm sure we'll be able to catch up on our studies." Delilah offered to stay with Alex, thinking that her company might be able to keep her thoughts out of the gutter. Alexandra Caim

History won't Her maid? Alex found herself blinking blankly for a moment. It wasn’t an entirely foreign concept, truthfully, but she’d never met someone who’d so casually mentioned having a maid. However it was nothing to judge the other girl on. It had simply taken the redhead by faint surprise.
Calm down Alex did, though the girl was right. Everyone probably did have thoughts on the tragedy that had just occurred. Thoughts threatening to return to the less pleasant topic, Alex swiftly focused on other things. Like the bag being not so subtly nudged her way. Alex hesitated for a moment.
They were cookies, after all.
The redhead allowed herself to indulge in at least one more, despite her earlier words. The other girl seemed oddly persistent on letting her have some. At this point she didn’t want to worry her or come off as rude. ”Well, I’m still…relatively new, I suppose.” She mused while nibbling on the treat. Honestly, the past year had seemed to fly by so quickly. Already she was in her second year. ”It’s only my second year at the university now. The first one felt like it went by so quickly.”
Talk of appetite though had the redhead smiling a little. ”I mean, it’s not a bad thing to like food. Between my father and I, we eat for about three times the amount of people.” That was an understatement honestly. With how much Alex exercised and the fact her father was a hunter (unretired now, no less) it was a task to keep enough food around in the house for too long. ”Fortunately I actually want to become a chef, so it just means I get plenty of practice. That and get to choose what we eat for dinner, which is always a bonus.” Especially since the one time Daniel tried cooking had ended…..poorly. ”Though sometimes it’s nice to just eat something quick and already made.” She wasn’t made of endless stamina after all. Sometimes she could get tired, and grabbing a fast snack to fill her stomach was just what she needed.
Surprisingly though, as Alex figured she ought to actually get back to studying again, the girl mentioned them possibly moving to a place that was a tad noisier. The redhead blinked for a moment. While it didn’t matter too much either way for her, she knew absolute silence could be fairly stifling. Alex couldn’t help but feel curious, though, that the girl was offering to come with her from the sounds of it. How curious.
”We could, if you’d like. There’s a few areas for lounging that aren’t nearly as quiet, but aren’t loud.” She said. ”Though leaving isn’t necessary, if you don’t want. I hope I didn’t make you think we had to or anything.” The suggestion had come out of the blue. Or at least it had in Alex’s perspective. Had she made the girl uncomfortable?

Delilah was delighted to see that her fellow student was starting to relax for the moment. Troubling thoughts would plague her ability to be productive in a school environment, Delilah had been blessed by Irilys' sense of obsession with knowledge... or at least that's how she saw her ability to stay focused on the task. As Alex announced her status as an undergraduate, Delilah held a gentle smile feeling a joyous for having the ability to aid an underclassmen. "Well, it always feels like that in hindsight. My father would always say 'Tomorrow was a century away, but the past is always here to stay.'" Delilah had very fond memories of her father... every single moment she could remember she cherished and to be able to pass on his wisdom sparked her heart into a sense of passion. It was surprising to hear from Alex that both she and her father had quite similar appetites to Delilah. Feeling less out of place as she focused her eyes on her book, until she brought up how Alex was striving to be a chef... Wait... Chef?! Delilah had to replay the moment in her mind before finally registering the fact that someone she was talking to knew how to cook. "I uh... you want to be a chef? W-would... would it be too forward of me to ask 'To try your cooking sometime?'" Her words were coming off a bit awkward as she couldn't think too clearly with the possibilities of what kind of a foods this girl could cook. Wait stay focused on studying first.... delicious food later!
"I was just curious... I am a bit of a foodie, to put it lightly that is." Delilah recalled her late night studies filled with midnight snacks after midnight meals just to sustain her own body's energy. Once she took the time to recall Alex's mental tangent she was originally caught up in, Delilah proposed her question to move somewhere with more noise, but after Alex had questioned the reason it was fair to assume that Delilah had guessed wrong in a change in environment. "Forgive me, but I might have overstepped my bounds in assuming the silence of the library might have gotten you into the mental tangent." She bowed her head a bit in her apology as she felt a bit embarrassed to continue. "Just presume I said nothing, Hehe..." A bit of embarrassment flushed through her as she started feeling a bit silly for overthinking the situation. Using her study book to hide her own red face until it passed away. Alexandra Caim

History won't ”Your father sounds like a wise man then.” Alex replied with a smile. There was some truth to those words. Especially for Alex right now. The days felt so sluggish since the riots, yet it was like everything had happened over the course of just a few days. It had certainly sent the redhead’s mind for more than just a rough whirl.
Although the other girl’s reaction also sent her spinning for a surprise.
Green eyes blinked once or twice. She wanted to try the redhead’s cooking? Well that’s rather….forward. As a chef, however, it wasn’t completely alarming. Of course Alex would want people to actually want her food and desire to try. Yet this form of asking had simply…come out of nowhere. Was this normal? After the past week or so, any sense of “normalcy” the young woman once retained had been pretty much tossed out the window and into a shredder. And that was putting it nicely.
”Oh! Ah, I mean…I wouldn’t mind having a different opinion other than my father’s. He’s probably a little biased.” Plus when he came home after a hard day’s work, he probably didn’t care too much what he ate so long as he ate. Alex could relate: she got that way too after exercising in the morning. ”So I suppose that wouldn’t be too troublesome. Might even help me get better.” Any improvement she could make, she would take.
”It’s…It’s alright.” Alex said in response to the apology. Heavens above: the apology and offer were unexpected. As was this whole encounter really. Although it was a nice way to take her mind off things. ”It was honestly rather sweet of you to consider that. But really, you don’t need to worry about me. I’ll be fine.” The redhead assured with a small smile. The last thing she wanted was to worry someone else. ”It’s just been…quite the experience is all.”
To downplay it in the strongest way she possibly could.

(sorry for the lag) Delilah was happy to pass on a piece of her father's wisdom. There was something familiar about the girl before her now. The sense of horror that one had to witness and survive through. Her heart wanted to reach out to Alex, but such pains and traumas took time to heal. It was something that couldn't be healed over time or ignored for that matter. Thinking back on the first magi riot, she had recalled the sensation that everyone around her thought of her as far more delicate because of the experience. Normalcy was all that was desired... her android maid seemed to carry on as if nothing changed and that was a comfort she often needed. Following up with the idea of food, Delilah couldn't resist the allure of such delicious possibilities. When she had been accepted to taste test some of her later dishes, Delilah couldn't help but express her joy with giggle. Luckily she kept her mouth closed to hide away how enticing the idea of food was to her. Especially with how much her mouth was watering..... maybe she was thirsty. After all she did go through a bunch of cookies. "Well I'll gladly eat up your cooking. Thank you for allowing me to do such." After explaining her idea of moving and apologizing to Alex the sense of relief washed over the lavender haired student. It would probably be better to not act so cautious around her. "Well since I've inconvenienced you enough with my questions. I wish to offer my assistance in your studies." Stating the fact as she began to switch chairs to sit next to Alex, peering into what subjects she may be focusing on. Alexandra Caim
